PTX Mad World was the best cover of this song ever! Pentatonix got mad singing skills! My first time hearing Matt really sing. Comment below with your thoughts on their version of this classic. ☮️💜
I absolutely love this song! And I agree this is definitely the best version. My daughter and I waited on the release together ❤ Matt is making the low bass notes. And if Matt is singing, Scott takes over. Sound of Silence is perfect to hear Matt's mad skills and voice. And Kevin is absolutely brilliant in there too! Papaoute is also great! Will be waiting for that one. Keep it up! Love your reactions
Some more PTX music you should check out, Wizard Of Ahhhs by Todrick featuring PTX, Sound Of Silence, You're A Mean One Mr Grinch, and all their Melodies. You should also check out some Superfruit music to focus on Scott and Mitch and Avi's solo music! If you want to be shocked with Mitch's range you should check out their cover of Defying Gravity on Superfruit and to see his rapping skills check out their Royals cover by PTX and Feeling Myself cover on Suprrfruit Enjoy the journey of the talents of PTX!
This version gives me all chills around my back! Matt with his low voice is quite impressive, but if you want to be really blown by him then you should react to [OFFICIAL VIDEO] You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch - Pentatonix ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6KdLcd-sUQA.html . Also I recommend you to react to [OFFICIAL VIDEO] The Sound of Silence - Pentatonix ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gdVjVtpr55M.html . Whatever you chose I will still give you other recommendations. ;)
I believe Matt brings some "sauce and flavor" for the group, wheras Avi has always struggled with HIS NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND FEEL NATURE WHEN HE NEEDED A BREAK! His current career is all AVI AS WE WOULD LIKE HIM TO BE...HAPPY WITHIN HIMSELF!!
Kevin is a tenor, Matt is the bass. But when he sings the lead, Scott will sing the bass line. For example, Hallelujah, when Avi is singing, Scott is hitting those low notes in the background. If you want to hear more Matt's singing, Kirstin's singing and Scott's lower register, the sound of silence would be a very good choice.
Stark, lush, haunting, luminous. Did you notice that after "When people run in circles, it's a very, very mad world," the figures behind them started walking backward? I love that.
Mitch always looks stunning but he is the stand out in this one even with fewer lines. He does look right through you. His lower register is so smooth and the harmonies with Matt are gorgeous. Kirstie is amazing at the end as well.
This one makes me sway back and forth and close my eyes... I remember this song by TEARS FOR FEARS in the 80s ! Loved it then, but this version is even better ! Love PTX, !!!
If you want a whole lot of Kirsten, check out "The Wizard of Ahhhs" -- Todrick Hall featuring Pentatonix. Kirsten plays Dorothy with Scott as the Scarecrow, Mitch as Tin Man, Avi as Cowardly Lion. Todrick plays the Wizard of Ahhhhs. We all need Kirsten as Dorothy. An incredible mashup of songs with the classic Over the Rainbow. And just seeing a few seconds of Scott, Mitch and Avi as munchkins is hysterical.
I think you should react to the wizard of ahhhs by todrick hall and pentatonix. It’s amazing and sooo creative! Also, their cover of “can’t help falling in love”. It’s gorgeous! And “new rules x are you that somebody” is amazing.
I was like oh come on you heard Matt sing in Sound of Silence. But then I went and checked and no your not suffering from memory loss. Lol. You absolutely need to hear Sound of Silence.
Yes. Every person in Pentatonix is good enough to be THE lead singer in their own group. But they are great because of 2 things. One, they have stuck together for so long. Usually, that much talent doesn't stay together for a long time. And two, Ben Bram. He is their arranger and the behind the scene 6th member of the group. He has Grammys with Pentatonix to prove it.
1st of all Kirstin looks stunning!!, Mitch may have one of the best voices ever recorded...daaaaaammmmmnnnn.. Matt bass, Scott when Matt sings. There sound is so tight. Matt can't replace Avi, Avi's bass would shake your chest but Matt has done a spectacular job on his own. Some of his bass lines are so intricate.an example Can you feel the love tonight, listen to his bass line in that...it is remarkable. Scott is easily one of the best Pop vocalists out there. Pay attention to Kirstin and where her vocals are placed. She is there usually when they want to power up. love the reaction man!!..wow I'm still learning about this group, it's almost obsessive!!!
I would love to see you react to Can't Hold Us (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis cover). It doesn't have Matt but its one of my faves. They have so much fun doing this one and you really get to see everyone's individual styles. Its amazing.
Loved your reaction. In my opinion, there hasn’t been a song they’ve done that they haven’t gone and made the Absolutely Best version of. I truly adore these incredibly, insanely talented kids (I’m 63 years old and they drew me in years ago). I believe they could rearrange the “alphabet song” and it would be another Grammy for them.
@Shauna, you are SO right!! Have you heard them singing from 1-5 for preschoolers? It’s adorable! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0b-v-wMR69k.html
Karen...Oh my gosh, how ironic. lol. Thanks so much for linking that for me, I had no idea and it was so much fun to watch. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to link it.
Check out Sound Of Silence, Matt had a great lead in that song and Scott did the bass. Also, You're A Mean One Mr.Grinch . Matt sung the whole lead with Scott on the bass . Great reaction and Thanks for giving Matt the respect he deserves 😁
Run to you or On My Way Home are awesome. Dreams is also incredible. Honestly any of their songs are just as good as each other. Mr Grinch is awesome for Matt. I also saw them in concert earlier this year before the lockdowns all happened... just as awesome in person as they are in the videos and on their albums.
Great cover of this song, don't know if anyone mentioned the background visuals but they show the shadow faces of the entire group during there different parts
First Mad World Reaction!! Congrats!! So, reading other comments, you now know Matt is bringing the low bass. Kevin is tenor (he sang in Imagine, remember? Also in Mary Did You Know) Kirstie sings in Mad World! (You need to react to Rather Be!) Mitch & Matt brought spectacular harmonies the likes of which we’ve never heard so clearly before! And I heard some harmonizing bell tones like in New Rules/Are You That Somebody! Now... let’s talk about the shadows of each member walking behind them when they sang... did you notice at some point they started walking backwards? Interesting.
She shadows are a cool reference of a thing that happens in the movie this song is known for, Donnie Darko. If you haven't seen it, I totally recommend it!
When they were on their world tour they recorded many offerings. Well worth your time to get acquainted with their individual personalities. Bonus; Lots of Kirstie time!
For more Matt, do The Sound Of Silence. He has a full verse in that. Matt, who replaced Avi, is a fantastic bass and like Avi, has a great range. Kirstie also has a full verse in that.
If you want to hear Matt sing lead listen to PTX sing You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. Scott sings bass on that as he typically does when the usual bass (Avi or Matt) is singing lead.
The bass is Matt, Kevin is actually a tenor. When the bass sings the lead (is it Avi or Matt), Scott sings the bass. Scott has a crazy range! React to their cover of Sound of Silence, there is some more Matt and the song is just perfect.
Okay, so out of the last 4 or 5 songs they have put out, this was my favorite. I also have loved this song before and they did it justice. The first time Kirstie sang, I thought it seemed a bit out of place, but the second round she did was great. Matt was great in this. Probably, when Matt is singing, Scott is likely doing the bass, as he did in Hallelujah when Avi was there. Definitely a valid song for this day and age. Sad things haven't changed in that regard since the original came out.
Matt was in happy now. In fact happy now is an original song written by matt.. Great reaction. Why? I'll tell you why. Because you're an awesome reactor. I like that you speak into the camera and make us a part of your review And you really get into your review and the song.
In so many reactions, not just to PTX but others, you always mention something you'd like to hear/see in the vid, RIGHT before it happens! You end up calling it every time, lol
Matt is the bass. What is amazing is Matt's voice and his interaction with Mitch early on. Note how this tends to stay in a very low/mid range with very little high notes. I love it.
Hi from Australia Love your reactions, this is one of the best covers I have heard. You need to react to Sound of Silence, Your a mean one mister grin how,or even happy now ( just to hear Matt doing some bas drops). Have been a fan of PTX for years and really enjoy their music. I agree with you they are frigging ALIENS. Keep up the great reactions. Hi to all the Pentaholics out there. You might also like Can you feel the love and Say Something, they both highlight Kristen's magnificent voice and range.
I enjoy your reactions!! I agree with the songs everyone suggested. So many great ones to choose from. I'm in love with this new cover.. just stunning.
What a great cover and the timing!!! I feel like they’ve just reached into my soul. I hope everyone and the world gets better but meanwhile, i will comfort myself with PTX’s music. 🤗
If you are really looking for suggestions of songs by PTX, I recommend "Can You Feel The Love Tonight". The harmonies will blow your mind. If you must interrupt for copyright purposes, go back to before you paused it and be really careful about pausing near the unbelievable end.
This version of "Mad World" is from last year's Season 1, Episode 1 of "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist", which turned out to be my favorite TV show (it's supposed ti return with a Season 2 at some point). Unfortunately, the network doesn't allow video, so this is just the audio of the short clip. I say that because the visual of actor John Clarence Stewart (lower left corner in the picture) singing shows the sorrow, pain and anguish behind the idea of the scene. If you ever have the chance to see it, it's the very first episode of the show. And if you love movie musicals, you'll want to watch the whole season. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8WC4C2g8REI.html
It's a challenge for my 70 year old ears to keep up with your speech, my ears are like 1.5 beats behind haha. Love the challenge and love your reactions man, keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!
**S T U N N E D** I knew it would be good, but when Matt came in at about :18 seconds in, I GOT THE CHILLS, then at just shy of 2 minutes when Mitch sang Stare Right Through Me, I choked on a sob. Thanks for your reaction. Can't wait until you dive into the Sing Off performances.
I could have sworn, you heard matt, in sound of silence? it could just be me.... My life was in turmoil when this came out, I loved tears for fears, and this is a brilliant cover, for a world in turmoil, but their voices, make it that much better
You should really listen to You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch by PTX. Matt takes the lead and truly demonstrates why he has earned his spot with this group
