Description: Continuing our investigation into public opinion regarding the war in Ukraine, Kyiv Post correspondents once again took to the streets to gather firsthand perspectives on another contentious issue: Should Ukraine launch counterattacks against targets within Russia? This time, we expanded our scope, conducting interviews in two cities: Kyiv, Ukraine, and New York, USA.
Surprisingly, despite enduring the horrors of war for the past 17 months, Ukrainians, when asked, predominantly express support for retaliatory action by their country. However, they stress that any strikes should avoid civilian targets and residential areas.
Conversely, residents of New York City appear to oppose such retaliatory actions within Russia, fearing the potential escalation of the conflict and its transformation into a global catastrophe. Discover more insights by watching this video.

Amazing piece!! Thank you for this. I literally think about this exact question every single day. I'm all about passive and peaceful resolution. I don't believe in war at all. But here we are again and, we KNOW for a fact that peace and pulling out while returning the children and helping rebuild the countless damage done. Peace submit isn't possible in this situation. Putin will not give up. I've determined they should do ANYTHING they need to end this, taking every precaution not to risk nuclear escalation. Sadly, very sadly for the Russians, who have been kept in a state of fear of everything for so long already and now they will probably have to suffer even more for decades due to the power hungry Putin. The iron curtain is LITERALLY coming back up right now on several boarders. It's time to act and put an end to the fear mongering of Putin's bs propaganda and willingness to force-conscript people who don't believe in this war. They're threatened with long prison terms or death if they don't turn up or go. If they try to hide or run from danger at the front line they are murdered by their own. They aren't even collecting bodies so they can refuse to pay the families. It's not just Ukrainians that have suffered immensely in this. They're they ultimate victim, of course. That is very clear. But, what's happening in Russia to the people there isn't ok either. Their elections are fully rigged. They need a chance to fix that. Taking the war inside Russia lines is sadly the worst idea, but it's for everyone in the end. They don't care how badly they destroy the planet, countless crimes against humanity, ecocide, genocide, mass rapes, mas graves of civilians. THEY are Nazis in this scenario. And, they need to be neutralized.

Americans seem to love that silly phrase "poking the bear". How would they feel if their homes were under attack from missiles every day? Of course Ukraine has the right to attack strategic targets in Russia. Particularly as Ukraine is not deliberatly bombing civilian targets as Russia is. Yes!

There are enough legitimate military targets in Russia within the range of Ukrainian artillery to keep the Ukrainians busy for some time to come. Let them strike military bases, logistics centers, munition storage sites, training facilities, transportation systems, etc. And more luck to them. слава україні!

Imagine your neighbor shooting at you from the window of his living room and the police tell you to care for yourself but forbid you to shoot back at his house and use shovels to stop the bullets, instead.

Regarding the "SAG-AFTRA on Strike" T shirt man's comment "don't poke the bear", my understanding is: President Zelensky's primary responsibility is to protect the lives and well-being of his people. The phrase "don't poke the bear" is often used metaphorically to caution against provoking a powerful or dangerous entity. In this context, it suggests that avoiding actions that might escalate tensions and lead to conflict is crucial. President Zelensky's role is indeed to prioritize the safety and prosperity of his citizens. The decision to join NATO and any actions taken during international relations should ideally be weighed against the potential human cost. Tragic outcomes, such as the loss of young lives in war, underscore the importance of diplomacy, conflict prevention, and thoughtful decision-making to safeguard the lives of the people he represents. These young men deserved to live, have families, and witness their children's growth and education. Their sacrifices for a political idea are heartbreaking and call into question whether the results were worth the cost. It's a reminder of the significant responsibility that leaders bear in their decisions, especially those involving the lives of their citizens.

Yes, the ruZZians need to feel the pain of this war too. They're currently too sheltered to care. Make them care.
