I listened to this for first time on a flight, looking out the window to azure skies, above the clouds etc.....and I did cry. Its stunningly beautiful and was just perfect for how I was feeling returning home 😢❤
Did an open chair today for my Dad, lost him in 97. Even Counsellor was overwhelmed, told me afterwards to look out for signs, take comfort. This played from Algorithms. The lyrics, my first sign before I've even gone to sleep. Thankyou ❤
I love the way you take a momentous occasion that has become a historical relic or a page in a book and bring it to life. You take what’s generally been regarded as an event of significance but in many ways underplayed by dry reporting or simplistic acceptance of a milestone of achieving something that was just a thing on a timeline and bring it to life with an element of wonder and humanity - you show us again that these things were achieved by someone with vision, tenacity, hope, fear, bravery and all of the fantastic qualities that make us explorers of wonder. In these times of division and violence it’s great to hear through the negativity and revisit the beauty of those wonderful pioneers.. you should play this music out over the top of the riots and maybe subliminally the Neanderthal spirit of the violence and ignorance could be rebutted or mitigated.. hey i am a dreamer.. gotta dream but thanks to you i get to re dream past events be great to re imagine future stories and influence them.. love your work x
Been listening to this since day one and it just gets more beautiful each day. Not PSB's normal sound but very much like Every Valley which gets better with each listen.
Another pivot on the musical path when straight ahead was easy, you’ve chosen to go left field again. As much as it implies flight, I’m getting wonderful notes of “the wicker man” from it 😍
Electra is unmistakably PSB; this track is.....Dido? Maybe Enya? Lovely song, but not PSB for me. Still, I have every album of theirs thus far, and will buy 'The Last Flight' as soon as it's out. Perhaps this track will grow on me.......................
Ngl this made me think "please stick to playing with soundbites, guys" - kinda shitty wanting an experimental band not to experiment but this is just the kind of flat indie pop everyone else was making when PSB were making Spitfire - hopefully its a blip
Not for me, sorry. I very much prefer when there is no singing in your music, not saying this isn't a great voice but it doesn't separate you from many others, some will like, just not me this time. I've heard some other tracks on the Album which I like so most likely to add this to my collection when released.
I understand where you're coming from, but this track is (to me) a big improvement on Electra, which felt a bit like PSB by numbers. They have a tricky balance to strike between keeping a trademark sound and evolving. While this track is a big departure from their signature sound, I'm hopeful it will sit nicely in the album alongside more typically PSB-sounding tracks.
Totally disagree. This is such a narrow minded opinion. PSB have used vocals previously. Obviously they have a fairly unique and distinctive approach to their sound, but there's nothing wrong with diversifying occasionally. This sounds great 👍
"I've heard some other tracks on the Album which I like.." Interesting. Do you mean the new album? What tracks have you heard apart from this and Electra?
