But you can. To add 360 photos: go to the location on Google map. Scroll down to Photos & videos, tap on Add media, then switch to Upload tab. The problem with this method is, although you do see your blue dot, it will not show up on the proper GPS coordinates. Also, if you have multiple uploads, you will not be able to connect them to form a SV tour, which is the magical feature on the old SV app.

Agree, if you remember the mess and chaos when google introduced AI auto connections. It seems they don't have any decent engineers to go forward or even fix the bugs that they have. But honestly we could live with the bugs, better than nothing, like we have now. About GPX files, the best way is to record it separately on another device, e.g. your phone using Android App something like GPS logger by BasicAirData, or on a proper GPS tracker tied to the camera pole. I don't like that I can't edit the frames that Google take from the video to make a blue line. I want to remove myself from the picture, and I don't want looking at the top of other peoples heads. There is a possibility, we can make a MP4 video using 360 images, and fire that into Google Studio, it works.

Mapillary only support single frame pictures, not what Google calls "photospheres" which is 360 photos, and allows photo linking in which you can create tours. The real contender to Street View app is GoThru, but it is subscription based.

@@thibaultmol Yes, sorry about that. I haven't looked at Mapillary in quite a while, didn't know that 360 view is possible now, and quite impressive too. However it seems that 360 photos over there don't quite look as sharp as Street View. Is there too much downscaling and compression? Is there a way to preserve picture detail? I'm thinking of getting an X3 for its insane 72MP.

@@Gamera_360 I think most of the submitters on Mapillary use the GoPro Max which makes decent 360 photos but not as good as google's.

Where did you shoot? Mind giving a few examples?

Did you have any problems with the GPS coordinates when uploading to Google Street View? Or do you use the optional Insta360 X3 GPS Smart Remote (makes sure GPS is captured)? Maybe you can share some experiences with me because I'd like to use this summer to combine riding my bike and take 360° videos for Street View and this is why I need to make sure that GPS works lol. 😅🚲

@@schouwen-duive-manu1726 I was unaware of the Smart Remote -- sounds like I NEED one (camera-alone results have been wonky). In November I shot hours of roads in Baja California Sur only to be rejected by Google for inadequate GPS coordinates. Subsequently I tried leaving my phone on (no sleep) and placed it on the dash with a clear view of the camera and the sky, which seemed to do the trick. Silly me, I thought the Insta360 X3 handled the GPS duties. Thanks again for the product suggestion!

Why not use 360 cameras? They go for a fraction of the cheapest Android phone around. Your question should be, which camera? For that, find a camera recommendation video. The benefit of a camera, such as a Mi Sphere or Gear 360 is: a picture can be shot in less than 10 seconds. With your phone, 6 minutes or more. And consider: most people disregard the basic principle of 360 photography, which is the phone's lens should be the center, not the shooter. That means you have to set an anchor point for the phone. Even if you're extremely careful, in many occasions the stitching would still fail, because your app can't handle dozens of tiny picture frames efficiently. Sometimes the stitching simply isn't possible due to SV not able to select the correct 1x lens, instead it defaults to wide angle, and there's no way to switch it. There are also other Android phones that suffer from drifting camera frame problem. Another reason you want to shoot with a proper camera is, a lot of places you visit absolutely demands an actual fisheye-equipped camera. E.g., copy and paste these Chinese words "金宝危楼" on your map. That's a full SV tour. Imagine doing this on your phone. How many hours is that going to take?

Alternatively you can upload your 360 photos to FaceBook, Flickr, Panoraven, Kuula, etc. Or hell, just line the photos up on a video editor, add a soundtrack, output into an MP4, then upload here to RU-vid. Again, the main problem with the death of SV is the loss of photo-linking, not photo upload.

@@FarukHossain-jm4yn Not if you work for Google you don't. Aside from driving Google cars, you can try your luck at getting hired for shooting business outlets. Do a search for hire a trusted photographer. @naveenkumar-zp7zq, if you want to contribute to SV, you really need to invest in a 360 camera. I kind of agree with Google on this. Average users just don't have the skills required to use SV's built-in camera adequately. Also, Google teaches their users the wrong way to shoot, which is to use your body as the centre. This is completely wrong. The phone must be the centre, and you rotate around whilst holding it in one place. Additionally, Google prefers people to shoot strictly on beaches and hilly places, as far away from residential areas as possible.

Not only does it not support photospheres now, have you checked on your previous uploads? See if all your blue dots are still working. I just found out many of my blue dots are linked to Google's photos.

It's actually improved a lot over the years. The highest quality 360 tour can only be made with Matterport so far. To see the comparison, pick up an iPhone and open up its Map, then look for major cities. The difference is night and day.

You can't. 360 camera makers like Insta360 and GoPro need to understand that people *do* use 360 cameras for true 360 footage, instead of shooting then cropping (called "reframing" by Insta360), to be posted on Instagram to show off their skateboarding skills. Once they acknowledge that, then they can work on a way to hide your car, or the person holding the camera, by applying the camouflage hiding system as used by Google.

That seamless flow and fluid transition you're referring to is called Parallax effect, a feature only found in iOS's Maps featuring Look Around technology. On very rare occasion, Google's Maps would also allow that to happen. But it's so rare it's like UFO sighting.

@SpaciousGreen yes I am. As absurd as you may think, I can assure you there is no street view in my town. They ran down the highway through the center of town, but never through the individual streets...

@@DisneyUpBoilerUp Ok so you do have an SV line, but only on the thoroughfare. I understand the feeling. It's the same way in my country. Those individual streets are regarded as inessential so they're ignored. Or sometimes people would complain to Google simply for showing the way to their house. Increasingly more people are hating on Google for invading their own privacy. So perhaps your town simply said no to Google cars, who knows. You could experiment by making a SV path and see if it gets taken down.

@@ericjurin My app generates jpg photospheres. Not supported either.

You have switch to video mode to output MP4. Same thing with GoPro Max. Make sure the video comes with GPS attached, which means you need to operate the camera on your phone app.

My player won't export to MP4 with GPS data too. Idk how to fix that yet.

If I were you I'd just sell off that camera and go with an Insta360 (like X3) instead.

@@SpaciousGreen the fix is tools other than gopro. The Gopro just will not export this data either on MAC or PC. So, you have to use third party tools to do this, and it is a different learning curve but totally easy to do once you know what to do. When you use third party tools, here are the steps. Take your .360 format files to create a .gpx file. Do this will all .360 files that you want to import into google street view studio. Once you have all .gpx files, then you need to export all of your .360 files into .mp4 format. You can use the gopro player software to do this, using batch exporter. Once you export all files into mp4, then you match up the gpx file to the mp4 file. then you import both files into street view studio and that is it. IF you need specific help let me know
