I get caught in a rut fishing the same spots too, just need to change it up from time to time.

@3:32, cast several feet upstream of the rock, let the fly move exactly at the water speed, continue this at water speed as it flows by the rock. The fish are waiting for buds to get carried at water speed by them as they wait. Nymphs need to be cast well upstream of the target as it takes time to sink, also this avoid the unnatural plopping of object right above the fish . It also takes time for you nymph to sync with the water speed. Fish are not used to seeing bugs that are not being carried by the water speed. You can cast directly in front of the rock , but well upstream often there is a fish in the dead spot in front of the rock, the current actually creates a depression in the river bottom where fish sometimes hold. A lot of times in Colorado there are tumbleweeds stuck there too lol.

Sometimes when you are wading walk up to the front of the tock and check out the depressions, it's kinda suprising how significant they are. Anyway if you can get you nymph to pass through it, it will place it in the strike zone behind the rock.

There’s a parking lot at city park by the skateboard area that has a paved trail right down to the river.
