That’s a fact I remember reading an article one year I can’t caught it verbatim but I could definitely remember big pun, paying homage to Black people and even identify respect?
Big Pun himself HATED to be called a “Latino”/“Spanish”/“hispanic” rapper… CUBANS, DOMINICANS, AND PUERTO RICANS ARE CARIBBEAN!!!!! NOT LATINO NOT HISPANIC AND DEFINITELY NOT SPANISH!!!!! ARE JAMAICANS ENGLISH? IN THE SAME WAY THEY SPEAK ENGLISH BUT ARE CONSIDERED BLACK CARIBBEAN IS THE SAME WAY PUERTO RICANS, DOMINICANS, AND CUBANS SPEAK SPANISH BUT ARE AFRO CARIBBEAN/BLACK!!!!!!
Did this guy get paid to say this. This man as a Puerto Rican i don't accept him plus how the hell does he knows get out of here with that bullshit. Maybe some puerto rican didn't support it but that doesn't mean all Puerto Rican didn't support it get out of here this guy ain't even mc to be talking about that like he knows quit paying these nobody's to say these bull crap I know all he saying is cap i can tell from his face he probably ain't Puerto Rican for all I know
These are the kinds of allies we need , if it’s going to be a Black & Brown unity(which I do not believe in nor support it because we already tried from a Black perspective and look where we’re at right now) it needs to at least be reciprocal, because to date, it’s been a one sided transactional relationship with my people receiving the short end of the stick from Hispanics . I am glad more of us are seeing the bigger picture and moving accordingly. I think that Black and Hispanic people need to have a mutual respect and understanding of boundaries to continue any kind of relationship. But shout out to this Hispanic brotha for keeping it 💯
He speaks for himself nor does he have any authority. As a New York Puerto Rican I don’t give a damm about who created hip hop. Y’all can have it. Hip hop/rap is controlled by that white man whom tells the culture what to do and how to do it. Focus on that…..😢😂 Y’all worried about Puerto Ricans and Dominicans but real quiet when it comes to the man running your shit.
I'm Guatemalan and have been into Hip Hop since I can remember. My father took us to watch Beat Street in the theaters. My parents embraced that we just loved the music and culture. We (my older brother and me) wore wooden beads 😂. But with that all being said Black Americans created the Hip Hop culture and they embraced us because they could see the genuine love. I spent madd years here in Chicago being literally one of the few Latino Males at the Hip Hop clubs. Never an issue. I remember meeting Lord Jamar here at The Promontory and saying Peace God and it was respect back. Where it was an issue early on was from my fellow Latinos. I heard the shit like " you know you aint Black right? That was the most disrespectful anyone got because I didn't play that racist shit. 😂 I remember going to see a Latin Hip Hop artist later in life and thinking where the fuck all this Spanish dudes come from 😂.
See in Philly the greatness of black Americans are in constant display ! Philly is FbA central especially historically. They keep saying these non New Yorkers but how come Philly , Jersey , La FBA been more influential in hip hop then pR ?
West Philly here all day! Who was the guy he referenced at the end who he said was the greatest but Puerto Ricans don't accept him? Can't make out the name he mentions.
@@bowlerfamily All I know is Flex did Microphone Check to clear up all the lies and myths. I used to live 3 blocks from 52nd & Market Street (the heart of WP) but now live in Montco. These Lietinos are dangerous and many hold absolute contempt for us. Shame on Busta Rhymes for his crap. All I do now fam is check folks' backgrounds no matter the location, complexion, or whatever. I'm FBA all day and got the Freedmen records on one side and actual enslavement blood lineage on another side. My blood ancestry dates back to a well-known and prominent livestock farm plantation enslaver in VA. The product is still sold in every supermarket today in America. FBA/Freedmen ALL DAY, and our CREATIONS, CULTURE, AND INVENTIONS!!!
lol man oh man… Ya really gonna post some random ass dude and act like he speaks for all of us!? I can tell dude don’t know much just like the majority of the folks in here. We 🇵🇷 have plenty of Blacks who vouch for us too lol 🤦🏽♂️ What was the point of this video!? And he an outsider just like the majority of y’all too lmao this shit is toooo funny. Lord Jamar is a buffoon. He likes to stay in drama and gossip just like Tariq. That’s why he always goes on that other agents video ( VLADtv ) talking about other people, like a female. PS this dude said Joell Ortiz is better than Pun…. Pun dropped his first album in 98 and died in 2000. TWO YEARS! 😂 Ortiz didn’t come out till 2007 - now. Of course he better ! He been in the game for 17+ years killing it 😂🤦🏽♂️ Smh Anyway! Ricans still spit and kill shit on the Mic. Those who listen to REAL East Coast Hip Hop know this. But I bet ya don’t listen to real Hip Hop and if ya did, ya probably wouldn’t even give a chance to a Puerto Rican MC just cause he’s Rican. That’s why I don’t get this cornball saying, “Latinos didn’t support all those Latino MCs” lol If it wasn’t us then who? Take this video down. It’s stupid and pointless
F the hip hop discussion he exposed some other thing's that were way more interesting , things that make u go hmmmm, ill say this much im from the south and i never been comfortable with Spaniards(mexicans, ricans, dominicans), Whites, Asians, Arabs or nothing outside of my race calling me the n word, i dont care if u saying it with a Aaaaaa i aint cool with that ish
Yhea but Pun died too fast whereas Joell Ortiz is constantly putting out bodies of work so I can see how he may feel Joell is superior Pun doesn't have the catalog like Ortiz I'm not saying Big Pun not official but his weight issues stunted his growth
I GOT THIS JAMAL FIRST OF ALL WE BLACK PEOPLE STARTED HIP HOP SOUND AND BREAKING AND THEY KNEW WE WERE ON TO SOMETHING AND JOINED US WITH THE DANCING THATS THE TRUTH
All that is being fed here are egos and that dark spirit that exist in this situation it only brings to the surface that hate seeded in them, I watched lord Jamal videos on knowledge his mentality is why he remains in bondage and exile out of God's kingdom rap is older that what people think, it's actually a disgrace right now. People like lord Jamal including Puerto Ricans being lured into that matrix of bondage remain stuck. Nothing good will come out this it's like vampires coming out the word work to feed, to me it's actually hilarious I know how old it is who taught y'all.. fools will be fools and fools with knowledge but in darkness gets nowhere you remain as the father of hate abd racism egoism slithering in your bellies follow in Satan's footsteps you will be just like it
@Robert-ur8mi you bugging nenA. Stop your bullshit boricua. You lied enough already about hip-hop , Reggaeton and salsa. Yall ain't pioneers or creators of nothing But yall should act like it. Give me a listen? Stop talking shit And give me real history facts...

As a Puerto Rican, I don't know how much we helped to create hip hop, if much at all, but I know Black and Brown have always shared neighborhoods and cultures with each other. But I still think we got a lot of our style and slang from the Morenos in my 'hood. I used to think we created b-boying, or break dancing if you're White and under 30, because Latinos are traditionally smaller in stature and that's all I ever saw bustin' moves on the floor were the Ricans. The Black kids were nasty with the pop lockin'. But now I hear different. Who gives a shit really? I've been in love with hip hop since I even knew what it was and realized I was already living it.
Just looked at the people who has the most influence on Hip Hop BLk Americans if you take Puerto Rican brothers and sisters out of the culture it still would be great with just FBA'S u can't say the same thing with Jamaicans and latin people. I love Hip-hop I appreciate what our Spanish people brought to the table but the foundation is Black Americans that's why we have the most influence actions speak louder than words💙💙
@Sharif-ln2qk they aren't. Fat Joe made a statement a few years back, and some folks saw it as an opportunity to create a lane for themselves to be heard. This is the most airtime Jamar has gotten since his full out with Vlad TV.
Like I said before. Latins in New York always played Latin music. Their neighborhoods always played latin music. Also, that Lord Jamal 5% Nation Album 🎤🎤🎤🎤
That is not true.. Puerto Ricans supported not only the puerto rican mc's but the African American mc's... Why isn't there more puerto rican mc's? Really how is that a question.. one look at the size of PR. Two there is a definite culture difference from the Nuyoricans and the islands Ricans when it comes to music and Language. Plus between P.R and the U.S there is only 9.13 million puerto ricans and over 40 million african americans here in the U.S alone. These numbers show just how big our presence and support for the hip-hop game & all real MC's is, even with small numbers, and the fact that more than half predominantly speak spanish just emphasizes those numbers even more. This is just someone trying to figure himself out and willing to step on his people to seek acceptance.... don't believe these false narratives. And as for using the N word it was not something that was done just because it was because we were brought into the culture that was already in place and that was how we all greeted one another whether right or wrong, and as far as Spic we have never used it as a positive title to one another that is why they would get offended. For me SPIC is a Spanish Person In Control
The children of hatred have no real knowledge of the origins of a music that older than the Bronx there's nothing new under the sun The creator favorite music is Rapture music that what we call it when judgement day comes them clouds start to uncloak you here that music coming for the skies the fools here will be put to shame
It was always there lurking in them their true feelings now it's all our in the light while others are trying to continue the unity hip hop brought the seeds of darkness are being fed and nourished that demon is very satisfied it's pleased. It's funny because they don't really know the origins of it
@@ColdNegro well, my teachers were black, Puerto Rican and Italian. they’re the ones that taught me everything since 81. What’s integral is that people need to understand that B boy is what really blew up hip-hop as a culture and not rap. Unfortunately, when it comes to understanding, most people refuse to take in the truth of what it really is. The minute you take out the hands that helped build it aside from the black members and pioneers , there isn’t much that is essential. The culture came together as a whole by the neighbored ethnicities and music from a variety of nationalities there isn’t much of a culture. Subcultures yes, and even The subcultures alone, really have nothing to do with. the term was really coined for the justification of a social-construct to benefit the person who coined it and his establishment, But like graffiti, has been around since the 20s and the architectural graff has actually been around since the 1800s. However, the media made everyone resemble what was shown so we get regurgitation of the culture as the package product as we do with all the rest of the elements which actually ruined the growth of the subcultures by labeling a culture. #graffitimouth #learNYCulture
Peace you just had to experience the golden era of hip-hop to see what it was it united us not this foolish conversation that’s taking place divide and conquer same bs.
Joell Ortiz is Black American by way of his Father who he never met I grew up with him in Cooper Projects they call me Shortz Da Don were like brothers even thou we don't speak anymore but in all honesty Joell wasn't raised in Latin culture that's why he appeals to a lot of Blk people because he grew up FBA. He started embracing his Puerto Rican roots to establish his name in Hip Hop and have the Latin support he doesn't speak Spanish go to Cooper and ask anybody who grew up with Joell they would tell u he wasn't raised Puerto Rican his step Father is FBA who still lives in the projects💙💙
Hip hop was considered an black art form not to say that there wasn’t Latin mc’s but you had to sound like black’s with our slang to be considered hip ! Wasn’t no spanglish then like it is now. Respect to Tito from fearless four. Keep it a buck we created hip hop and others admired it and copied it !
Joell overall spits better than Pun. Dude has way more material that is just as good if not better than Pun. Honestly Pun was clearly falling off from being to heavy.
Although Joel Ortiz is absolutely wanted the dope of MC out there, and never really thought about him being better than big pun . But what I have found weird is that Latinos don’t get behind him and promote and push him forward. With the level of skill he displayed they should be 10 toes down for him all day. Figured Fat Joe would’ve gotten behind him. 🤔 Also, you figured it would’ve gotten behind Big puns son and they never did . 🤔
Listen to this my people stop playing race cards that shit is wack. The Bronx never had issues. We think differently based on culture, that’s it has nothing to do with I’m Spanish your white he is black. Forget that nonsense
@@SaulOrti-gz5ve like what? Being PRESENT isn’t synonymous with CREATION. I can be present and keep someone company while they build a house. Doesn’t mean I helped them build it
S/O to Joell Ortiz Withers St/Cooperville BK all day…..my PR brothers were doing the wuebo dance to loft music and listening to KTU and Pablo when Hiphop was coming up and very few embraced being an emcee then….facts 🫡
Busta Rhymes and Krs One done started this mess 😂 As a representative of puerto ricans 🇵🇷 i can say we Love our black people i was born in PR we have African and Taino in our heritage so some people think we copying na we just the same we from the hood too we love fried chicken too we love kool aid too 😂😂😂e🤜🏼🤛🏼
First and foremost as a puerto rican myself I've always supported my Latino rappers since day one regardless of complexion latinos are one. I dont know if puerto ricans in Philly don't support their own kind, but here in nyc we represent our culture and artist with pride. This guy is a bozo and needs to speak for himself and not on behalf of the millions of us that reside in nyc alone.
Let's get some puerto ricans from the Bronx like my uncle n them who will school everybody not some younging from philly all he knows is philly cheese stakes lol😅foh
I love Joel Ortiz too, but he’s not superior to PUN, you ask any great MC including Joel, not a single one of them would say that they are Superior to PUN.
Kurios George Fat Joe Cypress Hill Kid Frost Big Pun Beatnuts AZ JR Writer Cuban Link Mellow Man Ace Chino XL Immortal Technique Joell Ortiz Hurricane G Big Lou There was a solid lineup of latino contributers to rap music. Not one i mentioned was/is wack. I left out the mixed cats.
AZ was mixed. Sure they contributed but it was only by imitating Black American culture. Show me the bomba or salsa song that any of these artists made that was popular.
@ES2990 show me any Bomba song that was popular. The point is that they not only contributed but did it better than their counterparts. Definitely did it better than you type of sideline, spectators. We can talk mixed guys, too NORE Fabolous Jim Jones Swizz Beats 5 Mics Lance Un Rivera Thirsten Howl III I can keep going. Not only were the contributions a strong representation of hip hop and rap music specifically, but in many cases, these contributors set the bar higher than the FBA of their time.
@@ES2990 great observation! These other folks EMULATED the culture, and put their own spin on it. That means they contributed to it, but contributions isn't the same thing as creation
His bug in about Joel ortez who makes songs useing puns leftovers Who is this dude smh. Lord Jamal is getting desperate know 😅to prove a point he could not win the Eminem debate so he changed to a pr Debate sad case of that opth.
That's what we call in PR "LAMBON" 😂 It's only one culture created by young black people and Puerto Ricans as a secondary group that helps the whole culture to grow. You can't take that out from history. So yes, Puerto Ricans are one of the pioneers of Hip Hop.
That's not true because I'm from Philadelphia too.. I got put on from my man Chino from Funk I Mart. Chino was from North Philly too. I brought all my Puerto Rican mixtapes from him. Tony Touch Brooklyn NY. Pony Boy & Chaos The C.M.B boys from out of Chicago and Jax Trax from L.A. Just because Some Hispanics didn't support Latin rappers in Philadelphia doesn't mean they weren't supported elsewhere..
We appreciate hip hop but not 100% our love is for music we created reggaeton etc. we have a totally different culture and hip hop to Puerto Ricans makes up only 5% to 10% of it .
