Puerto Rico vs. Dominican Republic Game Highlights | 2023 World Baseball Classic 

This event definitely has the potential to become almost if not as big as the World Cup. I believe this tournament really brings the beauty and especially the FUN of the game up to the plate, and THATS what gets new people and new countries to love this game as well. I don’t particularly follow MLB to be honest, but I sure did follow EVERY game of the WBC. It just hits differently

Part of why more people watch is the style of the tournament. Single elimination and pool play is always going to have an extra dose of excitement that series play can't replicate. I think it is awesome that this will continue to grow the game. I will be interested to see if someday the tournament is moved to the middle of the season, making a week longe AS break for the 4 major leagues that are represented (MLB, NPB, KBO, and CPBL). It'd be interesting to see if even more teams would release their players for the tournament then. Every single team had guys that missed it. PR most talented player is Correa and he's not there. DR is missing Vlad, Jose Ramirez, etc. Team USA couldn't improve the lineup much beyond Judge and a healthy Harper (maybe Seager at SS or 2B too), but their pitching could be way better. I'd be interested to see what the format would look like if the AS break was 2 weeks instead of 1 and they did this tournament (plus the AS and HR derby festivities in the final host city for players that didn't make the tournament). Don't think they'll ever do it, but it could be insane.

Who gives a fuck about Mexico or this stupid WBC tournament ... the best closing pitcher in baseball has had his entire season torn away from him, our fans and the owner who paid $100 million dollars for a guy to get injured celebrating in some absolutely stupid, completely pointless game so some stupid country can say they won a game that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme. I would never let my players participate if they had huge contracts and if they do and get injured, then the contract is void. This should have never happened especially the year MLB makes sweeping changes to the sports rules. I hate this commissioner just a lil less than I hate this stupid tournament.

It's true - if more MLB games were like this, baseball would be a lot more enjoyable! In MLB now it's "strikeout or HR" for everyone...I grew up going to Yankees games and I live 15 minutes from Yankee Stadium now, but I don't even go to games anymore because there's no energy on the field. 😶

The tournament is wide open now with them gone. Puerto Rico could win it but also USA and Japan will be strong. DR got shafted with these groups.

@@SoteroA Me dio' el mismo sabor que Cuando Cuba en el 2006 ,llego' con un equipo "desconocido" por no contar ningun >mediatico" de Grandes Ligas y con su equipo de Serie Nacional,llego' a la finalisima... Recuerdo que amistades Dominicanas,habian apostado dinero contra una "finca campestre" y entre frustracion y tragicomedia,me contaban su sorpresa.De cualquier modo esto fue' otro de los excelentes duelos que el Clasico siempre nos proporciona.Felicidades a ambos equipos y fanaticadas.
