The puffer was an accidental snag hookup. He followed Captain D's bait up from the bottom and was snagged just beneat the skin. No guts were exchanged. Capt D pulled the hook out the way it came in. That fish lived to tell his story.

This was a Southern Puffer which is actually eaten and even served in restaurants. Only the flesh is eaten, not the organs. We actually released most of the fish we caught and only kept a few for food.
Actually, I'm "the guy" and a marine science instructor (for 30 years now). It's not a cry of pain...just a grunt and sound of water being expelled. The hook was just in the tough skin, not in the flesh. Thanks for watching and commenting !

Fishing is fun, I enjoy doing it with my relatives, but this one guy told me that people who fish for fun (as in, catch a fish and throw him back in the water) actually give fishes PTSD, that pufferfish sure would make for a good grandpa who tells stories to his grandchildren

We were fishing for food. We released most of our fish and only kept a few legal size grouper that day. Do we enjoy catching our own fresh food? Yes. Do fish feel pain? Yes, (I am a 30 year Marine Science instructor) I and my friend in the video have both been stuck by hooks and they do hurt. They also leave a small puncture would that heals quickly. I appreciate your concern for fish, after dogs, they are my favorite animals. I do disagree that enjoying the experience of catching your own fish dinner is "not human". Thank you for commenting.
