Pulk Sled hot tenting sub zero winter adventure. Part 2. Check out Part 1. • Pulk Sled Hot Tenting ... #hottent #backpacking #hottenting #wintercamping
Hello , I have never been anything but inspired by your videos , and a little envious . Don't change a thing , your presentation and sense of dry humor are priceless . FYI . To me , nothing trumps bacon . I've seen a lot of your vids and would like to hear you tell us why you enjoy what you do . Not the filming and editing part but the joy in being in the outdoors and being feed and comfortable . I know why I do . Thanks again , Enjoy every minute of your adventures , Dan from Nova Scotia out . Peace
The woods are just a wonder to look at. It's the little moments in time which matters. Could be something small like a brook trout swimming in a pool or big like looking down a valley as the fog rolls in. I never know what it will be but know when I find it. Thanks for watching!
good video .... you are right I don't think there is many videos on keeping clean in the woods I have seen a few .... I'm a camper not a hiker so I usually bring me some large baby wipes ... a few of those and five or ten min. and ha la all fresh and clean :)
Great video once again. We have been into making all of our own sausages and breakfast sausage rounds, as it allow us to ensure what is going into them and to cut down on the amount of nitrates and preservatives. One thing that we usually make is chicken and bacon sausages which are one delightful meal. Have the taste of the sacred bacon with the leanness of some chicken. One other treat we enjoy is slicing and frying some of our own homemade salami and pepperoni in a cast iron fry pan over the open fire.
Oh my! When you unwrapped that kielbasa my jaw just dropped! And I said it just a millisecond before you - That trumps bacon! That sausage wasn't Oscar Meyer like your bacon, that was artisan sausage! Beautiful! I'm gonna have to try that sausage in the lentil soup recipe as well as the mashed potatoes with the bacon drippings recipe. Both looked delicious! Thanks so much for sharing your camping trip with us. I love winter!
Wow! Mr Walker, you made this trip liked you were in the 5 stars hotel in the wood! Cook and eat those delicious hot meals inside the tent and even a shower in sub zero weather! I wish I could give you more thumb up! I promise myself that I will try to make the potato and bacon in my next hike! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
From the last month, starting to watch your adventures, since I purchased over 1000$ stuff to do adventures like you do. It looks so fun! I love your videos.
Great trip video as always. Like the part with the stove door rattling as the red hot stove rumbles away, it must have been blazing hot in there! Sounds like you had nice cold temps to round out what must have been a good outing.
WooHoo! Just received shipping confirmation on a Supertarp and Smith stove. At sub 3 lbs and your videos helped me see that hot tenting and hiking are not exclusive of each other. I am up here in northern Virginia and hope to catch up to you on the trail someday.
Nice video! For woods hygiene I have been using "Phytoplex Cleanser",a no rinse botanical cleanser I was introduced to in the hospital, when I was recovering from surgery and could not get wet. Clean the whole body, or selective areas, including hair, with a pot of hot water and a wash rag, available on Amazon.
If you felt so inclined you could used that tent as a sauna. Heat some rocks and pour water on them to create steam. Not a daily luxury but perhaps for a special treat.
It's funny how the simplest things make all the difference when out camping, all that's missing is a nice dram of peaty malt and your vids would be the perfect adventure, all the best and a very happy new year to you. Mr Walker Will⛺🐧🔥🍻
Happy New Year Mike and Josie. From time to time we all face challenges with our physical health, you have been generous and committed to your subscribers over the years and we would wish and pray for you to regain your health and strength; in the meantime relax, re-couperate, reflect and we will look forward to your great future adventures yet to come. God Bless, Chris.
First time watching you, great video, bacon with potato makes perfect sense👍and coffee mate never drink coffee with out it, not tried it in any other drink but I only drink black tea and if I drink hot chocolate or coco I don't like the ones where you only add water, I like what I call the proper ones made with hot milk😊 I've often wondered if people when camping more than one night if they strip wash or what ever, though I must say taking a shower outside in freezing conditions................Well all I can say crazy lol Liked video so much I've subscribed 👍👍👍
Really enjoyed watching those two Vids My winter admin used to be (not any more) Flannel soap and just wash the groin armpits and feet when appropriate that’s all I ever did, water heated up in your mess tin with very little shelter, no hot tent and certainly no fire but necessary admin for sure...... not fun ☹
I think a lot of guys use wet/baby wipes for personal hygiene when camping. I am seriously considering getting a camp stove & teepee or canvas hot tent so I can camp in the late fall or early spring/late winter.
I might have missed it, but what is the name of the tepee tent you used? Also, I subscribed to your channel after stumbling across a video you made. I absolutely love the videos.
wow 10 years ago! It's still the best spark arrester and heat exchanger I've ever seen. Crappy ones sell for $55 +, you should patent it manufacture it and sell for $50 each.
Most excellent! Loved everything about it. Lots of good information. No offense, but I like camping hygiene explained by the fairer sex! Check out Survival Lily and Wild Woman Bushcraft. Each have a video or two about keeping clean as part of their camping experience, but I have to say, your technique is a bit more thorough and exhilarating.
I like a Girl in the Woods as well if you haven’t seen her. Ladies bring a slightly different approach to being in the outdoors. Really like your channel!
Woods great Part Deux my friend. Did you make the heat exchanger yourself, i do recall seeing them available from some of the wood-stove sellers before as well as ovens.
Oh and another video you showed you seek without the Riley add on burning, cooking bacon and it was running clean, very little smoke. How did you do that?
That stack robber is a DIY not purchased. I do also run a larger Kifaru with a Riley spark box. I tend to vent the tent by opening the door some when cooking. In cold weather it sucks any smoke out fast. I tend to be careful when cooking but sometimes smoke up the inside when first stoking the stove and if not really concentrating on cooking. Overall once there is a coal base these stoves tend to draft better which then reduces smoke when opening the door to stoke the stove. Thanks for watching!
Polish and Hungarian kielbasa huh? I've never heard of that, where can one buy? I've had granish kielbasa and I would say it is way better than bacon as well, it has a nice amount of garlic added to it.
Do you use any of the Kifaru SST pins for snow or sand? If so are they just hollow aluminum tubing with a nut and bolt through one end for the grab loop to pull them out?
I used both solid Ti nail pegs and Easton Al tubular pegs for this outing however made a DIY copy of the Kifaru SST pins and they work fantastic. Once I factored in the cost of materials, gas and time it would of been cheaper to by them from Kifaru. Thanks for watching!
Hey buddy I got a question for you. I love watching your videos on hot tenting and winter camping. If you don't mind me asking for all your videos I probably miss it but, what kind of stove is that that you're using? Kind of like the size and that it folds up. Also, what stove do you recommend for winter camping? I know there's a big variety out there but you personally, which one do you like best overall? Also, what about a tent? I see canvas ones that are very very heavy but I'm looking for something for just two or three days up in the Adirondacks to use maybe late November early December let me know when you get spotty greatly appreciated thank you
I assume you've found your way with some hot tents by now, and I saw the Walker gave you the link for this stove. In case you're still looking, Luxe Hiking Gear makes some pretty decent quality tents for hot tenting. I'd say they're entry level for quality but price can't be beat. Seek Outside makes excellent tents at a little higher price. The end all be all of light weight heavy duty will not be destroyed construction has to go to Kifaru, but the price certainly shows. In the end they all have their ups and downs, you may find some floor plans work better for you than others as well so it's as much up to personal preference as pure price point. Good luck and welcome to the hot tenting world!
@@LightfeatherxX actually, I haven't found myself a tent for the winter yet I'm still looking. I'm just looking for something for two to four people that's basically affordable and also I need help picking out a small Titanium or stainless steel wood burning stove for the inside I just do not know where to start looking
No real point in taking a "shower" after only 1-2 days' camping in those conditions, unless you're just a clean freak. Our ancestors went far longer than that with no ill effects--as do I. And that's why you don't see much reference to it in these short adventures. It's a waste of energy and resources. Good for cinematic effect, though...
I left the truck on Saturday afternoon and returned on Tuesday afternoon. One pro to the wood stove is I have energy to burn, pun intended. It's running to heat the tent anyways so it's a freebie to boil water and cook food. The waste of energy and resources would be not utilizing the energy from the wood as the stove burns. Thanks for watching!
The waste lies in your own personal bodily resources. While it's arguable that you would expend the same amount of energy fueling the stove either way, chilling yourself unnecessarily depletes your bodily reserves. While that's acceptable in a recreational sense, it's a formula for failure in an actual survival situation. But it does make for good entertainment. Thumbs up.
Is this a National park where u are at? where I am at .....unfortunately.... we do not have places where u can just" veer off" into the wilderness and camp all regulated on where u can camp blah blah blah.... unless u go on someones property...where are u? i am very envious of that situation.
Looks nice; lots of dry wood makes for a easy night. I thought you would have more snow where you are though given the reports I have heard on the news. That is your 6 man? -2 - that's Fahrenheit? I was out a few days ago myself; even made a video - something I've never done before - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NbM6c6tW2Nw.html - I still think we should have a tipi to tipi chat ;).
Long time no hear brother. How is everything going? Just after this video we got hit by a storm so now there is more snow. I will check out your video!
Hey mega Send me a PM I have watched a bunch of your vids love them I am in Minnesota maybe we could get together for a camp out sometime either in your area or mine. Let me know!
You are mistaken. The stove is made to do that and it’s common knowledge to UL hot tenting. The stove and pipe is all of 3 lbs and is paper thin. Thanks for watching.
sausage, bacon, bacon grease not healthy. I watched almost all of the walkers videos and he ate these things most every episode.. I don't think it helped him. Very sad
