Awesome video. Never thought there was so much to learn with pull ups. Will try both but tempted to master the hollow as i do inverted rows too so hitting the back intensely already. Cheers and keep up the good work

Hollow body gives a tone to the body which is important to prevent injuries, and also makes the pull up easier in the long term. Arch is great only for the scapula retraction. The best example for this is Scapula pull ups. (We can even see your shoulders going up in your hollow body pull ups, because it's much harder to maintain scapula position in that position. In hollow body scapulas would naturally protract, so we have to fight against that.) The ideal form is hollow body down from nipples, started by closing the ribs, but opening the chest at the same time and retracting from up there.

I can do 15 to 20 hollow pull ups but only 8 to 10 arc. I cannot do muscle ups for reps because of huge limitations in the shoulder internal rotations. I do manage single muscle up with alot of warm ups for the rotator cuffs but unable to progress beyond

Never knew that i was doing arched back pull ups all the time. I would like to switch from time to time together with the hollow pullups. Whats the more effective exercise in back day tho?

For training the back, arched pulls are definitely the more effective, but if you want to work skills, you can do hollow pulls, but also do inverted rows to ensure your back gets a good workout 👊🏿

I remember learning to do them when I was a LOT younger - so there must have been a time when I really couldn't do them, but I stopped training in my late teens and had to re-teach myself and that was hard work!! Now I make sure I never have to go through that again!

I prefer hollow body because arch pull ups caused me lower back pain because of my injurie i had plus i feel my lats more.Nice content

does the hollow way affect chin ups? been doing the hollow way for a long time with no guide and felt nothing in my back and noticing how my posture started looking off. but will try to fix this. Thank you

You're right, typically chin ups are performed with more of a hollow body, but generally these tips can be applied to chin ups as well as pull ups

What pull up is best for LOWER LATS? HOLLOW OR ARCHED?

For the lats, generally, it is arched. But the size of your lats lower down will be largely governed by genetics and how long your torso is relative to your body 👊🏿
