The fact they pull people over and then need a handbook to decide if they should fine you is absurd. They need to learn the law before detaining people.
@Mike-hb4pc. I worked on a weed farm for the harvest season a few years ago. And there was one in use. And the dude using it was screaming around on it all the time. And he was getting stuff done. Running from one project to the next with his tools in a pack. He hardly ever used the 4 wheeler. I was amazed
@@alabamaman21099 if you are not under arrest, you dont have to answer any of their question, he's not breaking any law, its just these uninformed cops trying to be bully's are per usual.
How could you say that?? These two, first off aren't actual cops. second they don't even know what they are dealing with, yet they are willing to intimidate and inconvience someone who's not breaking any laws. They should know the law they intend to enforce before harassing people. Plus. Why are two cops in two separate cars pulling over one guy on a unicycle? Seems like a waste of taxpayer money to me. But you keep telling yourself nothing is wrong.
That male ranger did not have a clue and he did not seem happy about his ignorance. I think you handled it pretty well. As EUC's become more in the public eye, there will be specifics on the books about them.
Doesn't look like he had a reason to pull him over if he doesn't know if there's a law against it you have to leave people alone that's a constitutional right violation
The constitutional standard to stop and detain someone is reasonable suspicion of a known crime, NOT reasonable suspicion that something might be a crime so they can stop anyone to see if maybe something is against the law.
THIS is how to endear yourselves w/LEO Community! If/whenever you're pulled over, don't get snippy or start mouthing off. They're just doing their jobs. Saying that they'll "educate ourselves" is all the more reason to just be nice & civil about the whole episode. SALUTE to all the people involved!
There shouldn't be an interaction in the first place. If an ebike can ride on those land, so are EUC. They were trying to book him not looking for his well being.
It is never a good interaction when it comes to law enforcement stopping you. In the best scenario you'll just waste your time talking to a low IQ government employee. Remember that time is money, and if you make 50$ per hour - 6 minutes of the time those clowns took from you is 5$... Basically they stole your money by wasting your precious time on chat that you didn't wanted. I think that there must be dome rule for those cases, if you being stopped for no reason and no charges pressed - state will have to compensate your time by tax rebate or something like that.
I don't think so in this case. They didn't know what that thing was, And they were asking questions about it. When they found out it was basically a moped, They did their due diligence to check on its legality according to their vehicle manual, and let him go. Cops don't always pull you over just to give you a ticket or arrest you.
@@josephnebeker7976they were not just curious how fast it goes. They absolutely pulled him over specifically to give him a ticket or arrest him. Cops should never pull you over for any other reason.
@@danamanuel7122 Well it's not like they yelled at him and beat his ass, like I said they just wanted know what is was that he was riding in the roadway. But I see some people just hate on law enforcement no matter what.
Park rangers wave at me here in Utah but I make sure I don’t go faster than 25 when I’m on state or county owned bike trails. Good info and glad they were reasonable, seemed like they were more curious than anything, maybe they thought they caught em an alien or something.
Yeah, but do they hold drivers to the same standard? As in pull anyone over who is ANY amount above the posted limit of 25mph? They sure don't! So they're letting the 5,000 lb., 300 HP death machines speed, but keeping a really close eye on you on your 70 lb., 5HP EUC that tops out at about 40 maybe. Like cyclists running stop signs, the public is OBSESSED with immaterial issues, yet totally willing to let driver carnage continue unabated. Sick.
They were interested in finding a violation, which is why they asked more than oncw, how fast it went. Their ignoranxe is the only thing that stood in the way of that fellow getting cited.
This is ridiculously funny. That was a great answer when they asked you how fast it was… 25-30, 35 down hill..LOL. I’m gonna use that if I’m ever pulled over. I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t educate themselves before pulling you over. Least they let you go without even a warning. Good stuff.
That went as well as one could expect. You're such an outlaw. It required 2 of them and a book to address a non-issue. He seemed to have a problem with you standing on it as well. I ride dual sport bikes and don't get the issue with standing while on pavement. It's not a Harley or street bike. They're made to stand on the pegs for more control.
But the male cop wasn't even paying attention to the first time the female cop asked how fast it would go. He asked him a 2nd time, I think I would have said, I've already told you, we're you not listening.
I brought my 4 wheel stainless steel electric bike that I built to a local state park on a trailer. My plan was to ride around on a paved path with my family ( on regular bikes) . The rangers watched me unload it from the trailer along with the rest of the bikes. Then stopped me and told me I couldn't ride it on the path. It really pissed me off because you don't get a lot of time to spend with your family the way it is, and I ended up missing out on spending that day with them. All of the components on that bike came from an electric scooter supply store online and doesn't even go as fast as that unicycle. Anyway thanks for sharing your video. I didn't have a video of my experience but it brought me back to my scenario. Joe
I’m interested in what their reasoning was for prohibiting your ebike. If it was two wheels would it have been allowed? What about 3? Training wheels not allowed? How about if someone is disabled and using a scooter? I’ve seen, and almost been run over, some move very fast. Maybe you can get a doctor’s note that you have balance issues and therefore the four wheel cycle is your mobility device… You can probably tell I’ll argue just about any point with anyone especially if I feel they’re being arbitrary. Just ask the teachers from my elementary school… 😅
@rawr6306 , the reason they gave me was that it was only comparable to a golf cart since it was a unique machine. It is 48 volts, and did have (4) 110 amp hours batteries in series to get the 48 volts. Also I did purchase a golf cart charger for it, but I'm sure all these specs were over their head. I was just bummed that they gave me a hard time about the whole thing. It wasn't like I was selling drugs , or committing some crime or something. I just wanted to ride around with my family. Joe
When cops or rangers stop you, remember that this is our opportunity to make supporters out of them, not enemies. Educate them that these devices are as safe as electric bicycles and have integrated balancing systems, that is almost fail proof just as electric bicycles. Police need to understand that you don't represent danger to yourself or others on the road. Speed - same as electric bicycles. Don't leave them with negative feelings. Make friends out of them that will support us for many years to come.
more importantly, dont answer their questions beyond what is required, it amazes me how many people try to make them "friends and supporters" they dont give a shit about these scooters or "understanding" they are hoping you incriminate yourself by talking to them. Simple rule: Thank you officer but I do not answer questions without my lawyer present. Am I being detained or am I free to go...
@@LawrenceWeber-z5o most decisions in life are made because of our feelings. If you make them hate you then what do you think is going to happen in the end? They are the law makers, not us. What we create always comes back to us.
This a classic example of them having to much time on their hands! To which they think about their retirement funds and how they can make donations to it from the citations they give you ranger one I know pull him over give him a couple of tickets and that'll add to our ranger retirement fund! Duhh I saw you standing up on it! Great observation ranger 1 nobody's getting anything past you I feel safer! Sorry no disrespect to them but that was kind of ill-fated on their side they were unable to comprehend how they could not give you a ticket! Ranger 2 to ranger 1 geez ranger one I thought you knew what you were doing that's why I followed well there goes that 15% for our retirement fund good going ranger 1
Damnit man, the stuff that brings happy tears to my eyes is getting ridiculous! haha. Because i for sure got them when I heard her say "you know what, WE ARE GOING TO EDUCATE OURSELVES MORE ON THIS" probably my first/last time hearing law enforcement say something as BEAUTIFUL as that 🙏🏿💯👍🏿. Thank you for sharing this with the 🌍
This is classic park ranger behavior. They see something they do not understand, stop you and then go through a book trying to find something to get you on.....and fail at it. Long time ago I was stopped in a nation park on trails while on skates by one park ranger who took up 30mins of my time trying to find something to ding me on when another park ranger come up and let me go and educated the the first ranger I can be there. It is not all of them but you will run across a bored one and those are the worse.
You’re right. At least it didn’t tie up too much time. I circled back with them and may post that too. They were getting to the bottom of it with potential new laws for e-bikes
That is because you are all just slaves of your countries, and those rangers are there to remind you who you really are. Unfortunately it is unpleasantly true for most of western world.
At the local State Park they have signs banning roller blades on the entry and exit roads because it's uphill/downhill to the lake. All the other roads by the campsite they are allowed and have signs at every intersection telling what the rules are There are certain trails that are made for MTB's too because the main trails there are just too many people on them and they don't want an accident plus they are kinda steep anyways
What brand euc is that my guy? Just getting into electric powersports and am looking to get something more suited for offroad smd on road use, prefer to board but this looks almost as fun as my Summerboard SBX
These are way more practical than summerboard. This is begode master. It’s good for both road and off-road. Also checkout the begode extreme. I came over from onewheel. That was fun too but way more limiting.
It has to have pedals to be considered to be an ebike. EUCs are also illegal on any road with a few exceptions, typically if the speed limit is 20 mph or less like in Florida.
That’s interesting. Do you have the statute I can see? I was just riding all around FL without issue. I know a lot of people who live there and have no issue. It’s what they choose to enforce of course but if it’s the law I’d like to see it. Thanks
@@josephcameron537 What part of them being illegal to operate in the vast majority of states, and with major restrictions in the few where they are allowed, is so difficult for you to comprehend?
@@deanf7086Wrong! A lot of them are state commissioned SWORN law enforcement, some even dual fed and state. Not every park ranger is of course but a LOT of them have the "fuck around and find out" power so I'd just advise you to find out before you fuck around..😂
Thanks for handling in that manner. Well done. I like how you said 20,25-30 with some downhill to replicate a basic ebike. This shows a good example and helps all euc riders understand not to escalate unnecessarily
OMG...humble cops that ask questions po.itely, don't arrive 5 seconds after their egos and offer to educate themselves before committing to incorrect judgement or enforcement. My goodness.......these cops need to be on main media news channells as an example to aspire to by other officers. Fair play to them.
I don’t know anything about these but I see guys in full moto gear riding them around town.. is it because there’s lots of crashing involved or protection from other traffic primarily?
Before you pull someone over, you should absolutely know what law(s) you believe they’ve violated. These are the most honest officers I’ve seen, wanting to educate themselves about something before they take action! I wish everyone carrying a badge had that mindset!
The state I'm in [Nevada], there's no laws for them. There are laws on electric bikes (small ones), mopeds, etc, but the laws state speeds and power, which mine is too high for. Since it doesn't fall under any of that, it should default under motorcycle laws (according to the law), but the description for motorcycles doesn't capture my EUC either. For now, it's just this thing in a grey area and, complicating the matter is that I can limit the top speed of my EUC to fall within whatever parameters I need it to for the situation I'm in.
Incredible interaction with them kudos for not being an overly friendly excited youtuber willing to give them all the details about yourself and your cycle. ✌️ i always wanted to be in that position of telling them what you already knew, it was watching a fantasy come to life ! 😂
I remember when a ranger drove up in my private property and tried to check hunting licenses at a gun shooting event we were having ! He was told that he was trespassing he opened a gate that said no trespassing on it and drove a half mile up my driveway and then denied the gate even existed lol 😂 !
You had me rolling on the floor in laughter when you told the park rangers that your U/C only does 20-25 and maybe 30 down hill 🤣😂🤣😂 especially after saying earlier that it goes much faster.
If they dont know before pulling you, surely they should not be pulling you? Like others have said, thankfully you found two who know when they are out of their depth,
The most fucked up thing is that you can’t ride on the trails, but you can’t ride on the road either and you can’t ride on the sidewalk so what the fuck
I think he was worried that you could get hurt on the unicycle. but you are wearing full gear so i think all is well. i have had police officers and sheriffs watching me practice for long periods of time. i think officials are oftentimes fascinated by this technology. i will admit that i had to practice one thousand miles going forward, until i could balance without holding onto a basket/shopping cart. that is a lot of battery recharges. and i did the same exact exercise going backwards, to learn to ride backwards. i realize that most people can ride these within a few minutes. but that wasn’t me. i tend to learn slow, in everything i do. but i learn very well. it just takes a little time. these are so much fun!
I saw a guy in Costco with one of sort of in a stowed away configurationthese a few months ago and I was completely baffled as to what it was. Then as I’m leaving I see him riding it and it was so freaking cool
It’s not so bad. people of all ages ride. You have to gear up and stay committed there are easy ways to ramp up your skills and learn slowly and there are people in local groups all over like on Facebook that can help you. You only have to push as hard as you want. You can ride safe and have relatively low to zero wipeouts.
I'm in Dunn and looking at getting a lynx or begode. Now that I've found your channel I'm going to keep an eye on what you find. I'm sure I'll learn a few things the hard way.
Clearly Victor was being “trained” by the female Ranger, who was frantically looking through the law book, in order to save herself from looking like an idiot 🤣
“We’ll educate ourselves” tells me that these two officers are not ignorant, and are most likely good cops. A few would have not cared what your interpretation was or is, let alone what the law is, cited you and let the court figure it out. Good job on staying calm, educating the officers and letting them get on with their day.
The fact anyone representing law enforcement would pull over people like this is truly pathetic and shows where this law enforcement’s loyalty is at. Insurance companies.
The other day a group of kids passed me on an electric bike and standing scooters while I was traveling 45mph in a 45mph zone. The kids were on the sidewalk and flew passed me like I was standing still. Had to of been going 60mph. I think im trading in my car lol
We were asked the other night by a cop "How fast does it go?" and one of our guys was like "Do I have to answer that?" and the cop said "The speed limit, right?" and we were like, "Exactly." He was pretty chill.
Anyways. A video i need to see is this thing being able to manover as fast as a standard car and a standard motorcycle. I have been through so many situations where I nearly got hit on a motorcycle but managed to barely dodge it, in the crazy area outside of Washington DC. People in power need to see that this thing can suddenly turn easily left and right fast enough to dodge a crazy situation
I met a fellow named Chris riding on the trails in pocahontas Park and he was carving along . He was an awesome fella having a great time there. I later asked a park officer what the rukes were concerning his ride. And because it was not able to be pedaled; it was not allowed on the trails. It's a shame because I didn't see where he caused any damage to the trails
Communication is key! Don't act stupid, be respectful, and follow orders. These Rangers didn't even know it was electric and just decided to get more info on the laws. Awesome!
"its a bicycle" Anything you say or do can be used against you in court. Great video and glad you got to ride out of there without getting a ticket or worse.
