It's ok to take a rest from the day to day work flow.. you are allowed to have a few days of rest from your busy routine. If you don't take time, you are doing a disservice to yourself. You are worth the wait for all of us. I was at a Goodwill in Portland, Oregon yesterday and I was chatting with a couple when I asked them if they watch your web page and they both said in unison.."Yes, we do!!"...and then out of the blue, we heard another guy from the next aisle over exclaim "Oh ..yeah .. I know who she is!!" We all started laughing out loud because we were all out to check out the Goodwill because of your wonderful web site..you are adored!

I've been in this state for a couple of weeks. I'm taking a break from buying. I am working on listing what I have and putting things in order in my life. Best I have felt in months. Cleaning and organizing are good therapy.

I get it! I spent years caring for my husband until he passed last year. I'm thinking a few days at ANY beach at this point would recharge my engines. Been an Ebay seller over 20 years...even when I worked full time. I only know how to keep going.

I was in Florida on vacation for 9 days visiting my sister. I think we thrifted 7 out of 9 days! We had a blast!! Found some really great deals. I had to mail packages home!! The smaller thrift stores were better than the bug chain ones!

I'm from the Philly suburbs and miss all my old haunts. There used to be a shop connected with the Little Sisters of the Poor in, I think, Bryn Athen that was wonderful. Sweet pea, it's lovely to see you feeling brighter after a great shop at Goodwill and the exciting prospect of shops further afield 🐱😽 I'm guessing this might be old information, but if you're not sure whether a picture is the original painting or a print, looking through a loupe really helps...if you see a series of dots, it's a print. They're great for checking makers markings/stamps and for any blemishes. I'll go away now. Bless you for sharing your time with us hon'...you always brighten me 👍

Jocelyn that’s why I love my job as a tour bus driver, in the past 2 weeks I shopped a Goodwill and Salvation Army in Wilson, NC, an American Thrift in Palm Beach Fl, and Goodwills in Boca Raton, Davie and Hollywood Fl. Had my special cubbie in the bus brimming with goodies. So yes go explore. The Goodwills in Clarion And Brookville Pa are nice. shopped them last summer. The Lewisburg Antique mall is great and there’s a Goidwill next door. Found some nice things there. Happy hunting!

Don't worry Jocelyn, your having a little after vacation funk. I used to dread coming back from vacation because it's back to the stress of kids school stuff, pet stuff, messy house stuff, work stuff, schedules, etc. I think taking a monthly road trip will help you with the monotony of life for sure. 😊

Jocelyn…I just love your heart and how you always keep going, putting one foot in front of the other. These videos have given me a glimpse into your life…LOVE your parents, love how incredible they are and how supportive. And I love that they see what you need. I have been there, and yes, when I “changed it up” from my routine, I got so much energy and joy that was lacking from monotony. But….and this goes without saying since your Dad is a pastor, I know where I had to look (UP) as well and dig into my faith and cling to the only One who brings me back to J*O*Y. You are amazing…..

Try going to areas with military bases. The resell shops in those areas have a lot of nice things from all over the world because of the military deployments. The items may be more expensive but worth it for your clients who like higher priced specialty items.

I think the weather has a lot to do with our moods. I was so excited we got some rain in California but after having rain day in and day out.....now not so much. But I am happy that all the plants and animals got some water. I'm sure you will cheer up going to new places to shop. 😃 I can't wait to see what's under the brown paint on the vase. The designs on it looks like it will be really pretty.

Sorry for the second comment….strawberry shortcake has had a resurgence among teens right now.I paid 10.00 a piece for 1980s figurines for my daughter at Xmas (she’s 17) and they are wearing anything with her on it and paying big bucks.Teens are weird 🤣

Salamanca NY has the largest antique mall in NY. It mostly all cases there. If you pic up the NY State antique shopping map there is a coupon for 24% off everything in the mall. They are awesome there and I figure it’s only a few hours drive from you.

You should look into adding Lambertville NJ and New Hope PA to your list of places...cool shopping and vibe...and not too far from home...but far enough for a getaway...and Washington's Crossing Park is not far from there either

I'm a collector and enjoy looking at stores. We don't have a Goodwill in our area but we do have a Salvation Army and America's Thrift. I have to say going to them zaps any enthusiasm I have right out of me. I am envious that you find what you do. Take care of yourself.

Sounds like your body might be missing the extra light you’d have had in Florida. You might want to consider trying a sunshine lamp or eyeband to give your body a boost. I live in an area where we can be under low-lying grey clouds for months in winter, never seeing sunlight, and using these really helps. My mom always swore by taking a springtime tonic (lots of iron & minerals) as these can be depleted after the winter (also when you’re juggling family, work etc). I found that it tasted ok as long as my body still needed it, but terrible after I’d “filled the tank”.

Vacations always make it hard to go back to work. What you are experiencing is very normal. I think you have made a good plan to try to spice things up. You have been working very hard while raising a family and new baby. It just takes it out of people. You were smart to speak up and talk with your parents about your feelings. Work definitely IS work even if you like it. I retired from education the second that I was eligible so that I could do some other things. If I had not had a few months off in the summers I feel like I would not have made it to retirement. You might see if you can plan your job to have some blocks of time off to vacation and travel for a few weeks and to get totally away from work.

Great haul, Jocelyn. I totally get the funk...the loss of the joy, etc...been there lately myself, I think mainly because sales are so bad right now. Even researching, which I usually love, has just been blah for me lately. Almost like the fun of it was all gone. :/ But then, I went out to a couple estate sales yesterday and found some great things...mainly smalls, because I have to stop buying larger/heavier items, due to my declining health issues...which is also a factor in the 'not feeling it' lately. :( lol

I'm feeling the same way. I love the shopping part but things have not been selling. I'm a one woman show - it's so much work and when there are no sales after all the hard work, it gets very discouraging and it's hard to keep going.
