On Al Horford for HOF: how different is Al's career from, say, Bill Walton's? Yes, Walton was THE guy for that Blazers team. Otherwise, both guys would get in largely on the strength of their college performance. In Walton's case, he has that one, white-hot Finals, Al has his longevity and consistency. If C's can repeat, it helps. Remember, he STARTED for this Finals team too--not just a role player. The team should be starting this narrative.

We should all have stuck to our guns. There are so many of us who just sat there in stunned silence as the national media chose a team that not only we could spot the mismatches (which we also pointed out before the WCF, Luka v McDaniels) but also who have destroyed this team in every regular season game this year. Anyone could see the Mavs were winning games by dropping off weak offensive players. I forgive Mavs in 7. That means, Luka gets off for a few games & it comes down to the last game, but this went exactly how we thought it would.

Before the series started, I predicted the Cs' in 5 games. I got a lot of hate for that. The whole narrative of the Celtics as chokers and underachievers was the main cause. I understand that the Cs' did not reach their ultimate goal in prior years, but they were so close. I do think Luka and Kyrie are one of the best offensive backcourt in the history of the league. Unfortunately, they are a liability on defense as we saw in the playoffs. The argument was "how can Luka & Kryie be stopped?". The misguided analysts forgot the Cs' has to be guarded as well. 1-5 players on the court who can create their own shot and also are good shooters. PJ, Derrick Jones, and Derrick Lively are all poor/subpar shooters. The series proved it. 3 out of 5 blowout wins by the Celtics. Cs' are a vastly superior team compared to the Mavs. Only Mavs' fans, casual, and clueless fans will pick the Mavs' over the Cs. This 2024 group of Celtics are a special group. It happened early in the season when they were clicking right away. They were the best team all regular season, post season, and now their championship confirms that. One of the best teams in the past 20 years in terms of numbers and their offensive and defensive efficiency. Hopefully they can keep this team together for the next 3-5 years.

Over the last few weeks, I've tried to call out the national media for their biased, unserious NBA coverage. Instead of calling it like it was (the Celtics were ahead of schedule in 17/18, the Celtics suffered from the loss of Udoka in 23) the national media fell into a simplified "Boston can't win the big game, Boston always chokes, Tatum and Brown are soft" narrative that culminated in literally every pundit picking Dallas in 5. As a sports fan rooted in logic, and an everyday listener of LoC, I picked Celtics in 5. How those guys couldn't see how bad this matchup was for Dallas is beyond me other than....oh yeah, subjective bias. I went after a few guys on Twitter yesterday, but it wasn't much fun. Thanks for your coverage all season John. Some days after a loss my 13 year old would ask me at breakfast "What is Karalis Above Average saying?" Efcharisto poly!!

Here's a receipt for ya- do people even realize what ESPN did? They realized that Boston was going to dominate the playoffs, so they took a cue from Fox News and had their "expert analysts" come on TV to sow doubt in Boston, call them untested and their competition weak, and hype up the Mavs, calling Luka & Kyrie the greatest backcourt ever. And they succeeded to the point that 89% of all bets placed on ESPNbet prior to the Finals were for the Mavs, despite the fact that Boston was heavily favored by Vegas. So ESPN made a fortune trolling America. They convinced people that Boston sucked and that Dallas was unstoppable. And most of that 89% were the "I do my own research " crowd 😂.
