Alpha I’ve been doing 10x10 for 45 days straight because my back is my weakness. I did delts everyday aka side laterals 100-200 reps a day “15-20lb dumbbell. Everyday for 6 months and now my delts are my best body part. I believe pull ups and weighted pull ups are far more better than a pat pull down. Guys remember Alpha Destiny knows his shit!!! Thanks bro!

@@muneebanwar1982 I did this as well a few summers ago and my delts were popping, it only took three months to see a difference. I used to carry a fifteen around with me at the gym and do lateral raises between every set of every exercise. Also my traps got bigger somehow doing this as well, I might have been doing a little shrug every rep and accidentally grown those at the same time.

Hey Alex. The one thing that struck me the most about this video is how well you can retract your scapulae at the top of the pullup. Looking from the side, it's no coincidence that you got crazy thoracic extension too. Maybe in future pullup vids you can do a side-by-side shot of you doing pullups from the back/side. Keep up the good work brother.

@alex20na
@alex20na 4 года назад
@@champ8288 Then why do you grease the groove only with high reps? Why don't you do weighted pull-ups? Pavel Tsatsouline (the guy who introduced the concept of greasing the groove to the world) said in a podcast that if your goal is to get to 20-25 strict pull-ups you don't have to go above 5 reps, ever. You can get to that level by purely training your strength, because strength helps in endurance (watch his interview/podcast with Tim Ferris). Do GTG with weighted pull-ups, and when 5 reps become easy, then increase the weight and start all over again. In your case don't get stronger with GTG because: - you don't rest enough - you work way too much (which A LOT of people do and you do it too because you said you do a "bunch" of half max sets....AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A BUNCH). I never go above 5 sets per day when doing GTG, and I get A LOT of rest time between sets (1-2 hours minimum). - you don't do any weighted work. It's up to you to decide what you're doing wrong.

The thumb over grip significantly takes out the bicep contribution to the pull up. Its a nervous system thing. The thumb inervates the bicep when flexing.

@otxoawolf9054 5 лет назад
@420 EASY SATIVA by taking bicep out of picture emphasis switches to lats. There will always be some contribution from biceps but its greatly diminished when the thumb is not gripping in its natural position. It has to do with the way we're wired.

@meialua5178
@meialua5178 3 месяца назад
I'd say they are equally good for it, pull ups are more for radio-brachialis, chins are better for flexors and hammer are better for brachialis, so it only really depends on which part of the forearm you want to develop the most, but you will still have to focus on them individually of course

Quick question: i know the thumbover grip for pullups and muscle ups is the most biomedical method from my understanding and experience with climbing. As a pull for deadweight, can i get your feedback as to the thumbover grip for RDLs ? This would be a noobie question, due to my lack of understanding with the hook grip, i feel like a clean thumbover pull would be more efficient and less painful.

I really vouch for the high set low rep scheme. Due to my build anatomically high reps of pull-ups has always been very hard. I’m 6’3 and 230 with really long arms which makes gaining strength on them hard. But with low rep sets I can always manage another 2 or 3 rep set to get to my goal of 30-50 pull-ups that day. Also i’m gonna have to try that thumb over grip

@jpetrullo6890
@jpetrullo6890 5 лет назад
I agree with Jeff on that one, you can’t really stabilize your shoulders in any way when you are just dead hanging, it can place more stress on rotator cuff muscles, labrum, etc. mainly a necessary tip for people with shoulders that like to act up or if people want to be extra cautious with injury

Don't read my name Yeah I tore a tendon in my right shoulder and since gets sore occasionally. I do dead hangs on the pull up bar to help my shoulder recover.
