I haven't watched this video yet, but this is a rare occasion I come down to the comments to declare it's a masterpiece - overrated or not. Fight Club, Gladiator, Requiem for a Dream, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Carlito's Way, Life of Brian, Erin Brokovich, Beetlejuice, Good Will Hunting, Die Hard, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws, Alien, Master and Commander, and Reservoir Dogs, all fit into the segment this picture does too - masterpieces.
It’s one of those starter films where if you were used to watching movies to shut your brain off to, but you wanna get into more interesting movies, this is where you should start. It kick started my cinema adulation. I don’t watch it as much as I did back then, but I appreciate it for getting myself interested in all kinds of movies
It is iconic on so many levels and, I feel, still holds up well to even newer movie lovers. For people my age (37), this movie absolutely blew our minds. The heavy but very intentful dialogue, the no-limit humour/violence, and our out-of-order storytelling. He is an absolute genius at building tension. Plus it's the genesis, along with Resovoir Dogs, of what to expect from Tarantino. We had never seen a movie like this before. So many iconic lines and scenes, that are simply timeless. Is it a perfect movie? Nope. But it was perfect for its time.
The Ezekiel passage is in the bible just the wording is slightly different, but it's slightly different in most translations because thats how translation works. It's not pulled from any one translation but seems to be a mixture of multiple, the root meaning is still the same though.
The most overrated movie of all time The movie has no plot at all showing scenes just to shock people if I want to get shocked, I'll go to a horror movie not this piece of crap
Overrated in the cinematic sense because Rashomon did it first, i understand why americans love it because logically there is no film like it in american film of catalogues but in a general sense, worldwide or foreign it has been done before (Rashomon).
By that logic everything Kurosawa had success with in the west, based on Shakespeare, has already been done (by Shakespeare). That is a pretty zero-sum game.
