The Pulpit Rock soars 600 meters (2000 feet) above Lysefjord in Norway. It is reached by moderate 3 hours hike (round trip) and is one of the most popular hikes in Norway.

When I lived in Stavanger, between 1978 and 1987, we would make the hike every summer. Back then, I seldom saw more than a dozen other people on the entire hike, or more than 5 or 6 on the rock itself. These crowds are crazy. The peace and solitude we’re a part of what made the views such a wonderful experience.

There is something unique in every part of Norway. Those unforgettable rock formations. So perfectly shaped fjords. The interesting shade of lakes and rivers. I'm excited

Preikestolen was simply incredible! It is a 3.8km (2.4 mile) hike each way, and takes about 4 hours for a round trip (base to peak to base). It was definitely worth the hike - being on top of the clouds with such a magnificent view is simply amazing! The path is rather steep at some parts, and may be challenging for some. Ensure that you are well rested and hydrated before and during the hike! Though there are some areas which are steep, it is mostly safe and manageable. Make sure you start early so you can enjoy a less crowded atmosphere at the top!

Just recently got back from Norway and we visited Pulpit Rock. I looked over the edge but from a lying down position and I was barely looking over 😂😂😂 made me wince seeing people with their legs dangling over

Spoiled Rotten Great Dane not really too difficult at all. It took about 2 hours to get there. We did it with a 6 year old in tow and even he enjoyed it because he didn’t whinge once! On our way back down we met a man in his 80’s on his way up! We loved every minute of it and would do it again, no problem. We also saw it from the water first as we did a fjord cruise the day before.

Just saw a photo of this place in my geology book. Unbelievable! Thanks for sharing. Nothing like seeing the real thing (via video). Amazed that people sit on the edge or down in that shelf where the rock splits. I assume it is Norwegian law that people are not allowed to sue if injured, or the family can't sue if a member falls or jumps. In the U.S. they would have high glass walls and steel fences to save people from themselves. Thank you for this video.

I hiked pulpit 2 years ago that is legit the scariest cliff you will ever see. Looks like you are staring st the edge of earth. The water is crystal clear. Beautiful place really like Norway

Many thanks ! By the way there were some base jumpers on the other side of the same fjord, and they were jumping from about 950 meters above the fjord, compared to 600 m for the Pulpit Rock!

I'd also suggest Trolltunga. A rock that sticks out from the mountain side, overlooking a fjord, mountains and such. It's a very beautiful place, and I highly suggest it :P

I dunno understand how do people stand at the edge up there and how the kids or anyone are allowed to move freely there and it seems completely unreal. This is bloody scary place. Any little mistake would lead to sudden death. No fence but a tourist place. Beyond understanding.

Yo lo vi, muy cómodamente desde un barco, tipo crucero pequeñito que pasa por debajo y es hasta mejor, porque ves la falla de la piedra desde abajo y las personas arriba, súper peligrosa, y además continuamos en un recorrido mucho más largo, y vez un montón de cascadas, un paisaje único.

Was there with a helicoptered jazz combo. We believe it's a Guiness Book record for the most people at one time on the rock. Very tiring, humbling and exhilirating.
