Thanks Nathan. I appreciate the no nonsense presentation of facts and how you have experienced this thermal. I would love to go to thermal but will have to wait a bit longer. The positive is that quality is going up and price is coming down.
The offerings for just over $2k now are as good as what we were paying $3.5k for not that long ago. High demand and more product options is keeping things dynamic 👌
Thanks Nathan, excellent review and I totally agree with the boat/fishing example given when it come to equipment spend, so buy good and buy right if you can, you will love it.
An excellent professional review. I got one a few weeks ago after using several top end HiK units for a year or so and it’s chalk and cheese. I’m out day and night and completely endorse your findings nothing else at this money comes close. As mentioned a few weeks ago, I too bought the same Thermion scope after selling my XM50 and returned it the next day replaced with another XM50 by reason that at nearly 80 I just found the base Mag of 2x compared to the 5.5x I was used to unacceptable for my eyes and digital increase I felt degraded when trying to shoot at distances invariably greater than 200yds, ideally I would like the XG50 but it’s not offered in U.K. Hope you’ve got more videos coming to regale us
Yeah I'm of the same opinion on the base mag. I still love my Thermion 2 XP50 but I shoot a few feral pigs in close. Would love a 2.5 - 3x base mag image on that level. IMO the Thermion 2 XP50 is a better image than the XG50. Just not the same mag. Thanks for the comment mate 👍
Another great unbiased review Nathan, one thing I have to say mate is that you have your video production down perfect. You keep on improving and definitely have it over a lot of other productions I watch, very well done mate , keep up the great work.👍😎
Now that's a review, articulate & informative.. 👏 For me, personally..I'd be very excited to spot Owls in trees & to watch Owls hunt through Woods & Fields.
Thanks for the great review Nathan, I’m almost sold, it just seems every time I buy a new bit of high tech kit, it’s superseded by an even better bit of kit in such a very short time. So I’m still a little bit torn. Thank you so much for your in-depth honest review of these products, in Aussie conditions. I really think it will help me with my hunting, and more importantly help with the poachers. Cheers, and happy hunting.
Im wanting a good Scanner, tossing up between this and the Infiray Zoom, have you tried that one out yet id love to see a comparison between them? I love the concept of the wide 1.6x for close country thats changeable to 3.2x optical zoom, the zooms a fair bit cheaper but also not likely as well built as the Pulsar gear, its a real head scratcher when looking to fork out a fair bit of cash.
It was only 20 years ago, we signed out of the quartermasters store an Artillery Forward Observers thermal scanner (to go deer hunting with :) He said as we walked out the door: "don't drop it, its worth 120 grand!!!" Oh my, how times have changed
Hi Nathan I use the accolade 2 and the helion for my work in fisheries protection and what a game changer they are, I have tried most makes on the market and pulsar are by far the best out their, they even pick up salmon running up in shallow water they are that sensitive to temperature differences considering their cold blooded fish as for poachers 😂🤣 no where is safe to hide 👍🏻 keep up the great work N
Sounds like a top bit of gear mate. Pulsar have put a lot of thought and development into it. Start up time of the others would be a piss off for sure. Good review, cheers
Good review nathan! All thats needed now from pulsar is an xp50 scope with 5.5 mag base mag !! They would have a scope then to kill most of tge competition, !! Rgds Steve
This is a pretty nice piece of kit. I paid 1500 for a camera that has an awesome zoom but has no thermal capability. This thing would be a photographer's best mate. You could scope things of interest on dark nights and then do a long exposure with your camera. Much like hunting but without the bang. I'd spend 3 or 4 grand on something like this. Then I might get invited out on a trip with my Yowie hunter friend.
Great review, Nathan. I've been looking at the Pulsar Heliuon 2 XP50 Pro and it's about $600+ USD more than the XP50. Is there really that much difference to warrant that much of an increase in cost? The pics you posted from the XP50 Pro are crystal clear (great resolution). Does the Pulsar Heliun 2 truly provide that nice of an image? Loved your video. Fully watched it twice. Big thumbs-up. 👍🏽🙂
I always try to buy the current model with thermal. The original XP50 will be still amazing. But the F1.0 50mm lens and 25mk sensor do very much help. I have a friend who replaced his XP50 with the newer Helion 2 XP50 Pro and he said there is a decent gain. Personally I haven't side by sided the two. The recordings are unedited clips from the scanner 👌 It does a very nice job indeed.
Awesome job on the review mate. Would love to get one. Maybe down the track. I have a helion XQ38F and its been great until i got a scope with the 640 sensor then it makes the scanner image look terrible lol but still works well.
@@billbobaggins1897 it works really good and I've never run out of battery on a hunt and I've had it for almost 3years and it's still going strong. Only downside is i wish it had the 640 sensor lol
I use a InfiRayOutdoor scanner firstly to spot by hand when sitting on the quad bike I don’t need to record like Nathan so a cheaper scanner is fine but I then pull out the Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 on my 243 and it’s a winner so clear. The combination is a winner for me but if I was sending files to RU-vid then a better scanner would be the go.
Nice looking piece of kit. Unfortunately WAY outta my price range. I’m running the Vector Wolfcub ( 1st gen night vision) and a Wraith HD here in Tassie. Got them both in July. Primarily using them for bunnies on the farm so far, but I’m ready for the next deer season. The vector was around $400 and the Wraith around $1200, but the new model Wraith in 4K looks pretty sweet (they ALWAYS bring out a new model just after I’ve forked out for one 😝).
Nath - I know it dosen't bother you when you get a Thumbs down as they are a very small number compared to thunbs up. if you get a thumbs down - At least have the guts to comment why! Great review mate. 🔥🔥🔥
Mate love your vids and gear. Any ideas of life expectancies of these pulsar devices? Just about to pull the trigger on a Monocular and scope. I know the warranty is 3 years, but do you recon they last beyond that?
Absolutely they can last a long time. I know people using 5+ year old devices. Problem is keeping up with the tech but what was noted as good 3-4 years ago is now so different to even the entry gear of today.
Thanks that was a great review. I shoot, only feral's like cats fox's etc BUT I am keen on native nocturnal wildlife like Gliders, possums bandicoots etc and this scope and your review has demonstrated so much. Now can I afford one???
Great review Nathan, nothing wrong with being a fussy prick. Had a quick peek on line at the price.....Jeeeesus I think I'll just admire it through your vids thanks 😐
Great video as always. Nathan InfiRay finder FH35R or Pulsar Helion 2xp50 pro?. I shoot rabbits and foexes but the station on which I have prmission has a dog problem. The LRF on Infi seems a plus, it is around 3G cheaper and immediate delivery ,but will I regret not getting the Pulsar? Thanks for your informative and entertaining videos.
Your reviews on are blatantly honest which I think is great. I have watched many of them in the last 2 weeks. Trying to make my decision on The Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 Pro or the Axion 2 XG35 LRF. Wish you had a comparison. Any advice would be appreciated.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Thank you for the quick response. I did not see a review on the Axion 2 XG35 only the XQ35. The Merger is going to be a bit more than I an looking to spend. But I will definitely watch your review. Thank you again
@@Timberwolf1Silenthunter I received a Axion 2 XG35 LRF three days ago. I'll be doing something in the future. But will probably share thoughts and insight on my Patreon if you are in a rush for information 👌
Thanks. I am considering buying one. When I see an add for the thermion xp 50 thermal scope. Is that and earlier model than the thermion 2?. What's the difference if any.
Nice Reveiw there Nathan, Have you had the opportunity to sit it next to a XQ50F? I get the difference between the 2.5 x mag compared to 4.5 with the rest, but just wondering how much better is the XP's difference when zoomed once to 5x? Or does it have smaller zooms, not doubling each zoom.
My take mate - I would cringe running a 4.5x mag scanner. It would be a very narrow FOV. Might work well for ID at range and flat terrain. But anything not flat it would be tough for me to use.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Very true I ended up with Infiray FH25R to fix that issue, hunting the FNQ country I've found both useful as the there is alot of timbered, rainforest and high grass country between the edge of the salt pans, open flat country, lakes and water holes. The infiray is better for the wet season and the pulsar for the dry. Was going to move the Pulsar on but after finding how useful the pair are together it's staying.
Great review. Just a quick question. What camera did you use when you shot that goat in the close and long range hunting video you did three weeks ago.
Really nice one, but as I check with my local gun shop(Thailand), it was listed a usd1300+ exclude tax.... Would equip it with my Ruger 10/22 if it was under 700 Thanks for the review mate
Thanks buddy, just one question - is it only animals u see with that? what about humans, thieves, offenders …can u see them with that at night? i was also thinking ghost hunting…pls let me know!
Just hold up a second, you're comparing a device from several years ago, with something brand new. Tech absolutely has advanced, but at the time of filming this, the Helion was #1.
Unfortunately no as this came from the manufacturer. A discount would have to come via a retailer, two levels lower in the supply chain 😟 If someone selling these offers one I'd love to pass that on.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK thanks. I got ya. You may think this is crazy. But I have filmed real Ufos. With a armasight Zeus thermal rifle scope. Made contact with a real ufo. Filmed it hovering over me for 6 minutes, caught its attention with a laser, it stopped and came back, on my channel. That’s the name of the the video. Damnest thing. I saw it hovering over my house a month before in broad daylight. Finally caught that sucker on thermal. No sound. Totally invisible
I guess it depends on the conditions you use it in. There is a notable difference in image with the F1.0, 50mm lens and 25mK sensor. Probably not noticeable unless it's poor weather conditions.
