Played on Retroarch using default settings, mvs difficulty 4. This is a great game if you like methodical, slower paced shooters that reward memorization. Recovery in the later stages is extremely hard since you lose your power-ups and get sent back to a checkpoint, so not dying becomes really important for attaining a 1cc.
Pulstar came out in 1995 for the Neo Geo MVS arcade system board, designed by Aicom/Yumekobo and published by SNK. Apparently the director of Pulstar thought it was ''too hardcore'' and requested its indirect sequel (Blazing Star) be made easier to appeal more broadly. But I haven't played Blazing Star enough to compare the two.
