Just got these in the mail today from a buddy that works at Puma! I needed a new tempo/ other daily to complement the Mach 5 and Endorphin Speed 3 and of course my vaporfly 3’s
I’ve loved the puma range over the years but their sizing really frustrates me. I’m a uk size 8 but depending on the model the variation in fit is so different for me. I appreciate there will be differences depending on the intended use, but for the most part I’d expect an element of consistency.
At least visually, the stack stats seem wrong to me. If anything the 3 looks to have higher stack in the forefoot than the 2, not less as stated here (29 to 30). Also it would make no sense for them to be heavier than the DN2 if they didn't have more foam everywhere (not a bit more on the heel and a bit less on the forefoot), given they also have less outsole coverage than the DN2 as well.
My personal preference, I'd wish all brands of shoes just stop putting power tape, logo's, reinforcements on the little toe-midfoot area. As soon as I see that on a shoe, I'm just like...NO.
I found that Puma Velocity Nitro 3 is way to tight in the toe box and ankle areas, their redesign of this area since Velocity Nitro 2 has put me off the range. This sounds like the same here.
I love the look of the Puma Deviate Nitro shoe and the feel of the mid sole. I just find it such a narrow show... I can't really size up because then the shoe is just to long.
Altra did it to me and it looks like Puma have done the same. Going half size up is not possible when you are wear a US14, and as for heel slip, yeah / Nah.
On another note, lets talk Pumas Pricing, last years tech, more weight and nearly race day shoe prices...Here we go again... Are we seeing another Saucony price hike coming for Puma this time. The shoes are daily trainers, not rocket ships...Disappointed in Puma so far this year.
You are kidding about having a go at Puma prices I hope. Always good value. Regular large sales. Not the top end shoes but reliable, good value and certainly decent. DN Elite 3 same base price as 2 here. 2 now on 40% sales. Massive sales on VN 3. Puma are cheap.
@@grantmckay7014 Agree, best value on the market but they are definitely in the top end. The Fast nitro's are amazing and I have a pair of VN2s that are built better than any Vaporfly or Pro 3's I have. The only pair I haven't tried are the DNs, they've eluded me, thus far 😁
Weight and increased drop suggest there are better options not least a deviate Nitro elite 2 as a training option or the DN2 AND £45 extra for DNE3 is a narrow gap….
Hello, great video. I had a question: I'm looking for a pair of running shoes for training (VMA, THRESHOLD) and paces below 4:00 and capable of running 200m. I was looking for the BOSTON 12, and I had TEMPO before, I was wondering which pair of running shoes would be perfect for my use knowing that I have a pair for competition and jogging. thank you very much for everything 😊
Thank you for adding details of your different paces - it is really helpful for understanding what are exactly talking about Really nice upgrade for your already good reviews
Is this shoe still heavy due to its insole and outsole? how about the heel collar and the padding, is still rigid? I felt this shoe is for strides not for cadence.
One person's idea of a good fit is not necessarily the same as someone else's. Foot width, how the toe box tapers, foot volume, lots of different factors can affect how a shoe fits. I've had shoes that have a full thumb width space at the end and they still feel small because of the way the toe box tapers. Some people like a full thumb width at the end, some think less than that is fine. Reviews are just opinions. Whenever I order shoes online now, I order 2 sizes every time so I can compare.
It goes on sale in 20 minutes here. I thought I'd buy it. I still might because Puma No Amer have an excellent/easy return policy. Deviate Nitro 2 had been my favorite (past time to replace). I thought Nick liked them, so not liking this as much makes me leery. I think I'll try the Mizuno Neo Vista first or try to find DN 2s on sale since I've really liked those.
@Nick Another great and honest review. Good to know about the discomfort. How is this discomfort compared with the Nitro Elite 3? Do you find the Elite 3 version also uncomfortable? Cheers!
I wouldn't race further than 10k in the Boston, I don't find them that comfortable and it always feels like too much shoe. Not sure about the DN3 as there are mixed reviews, Ed Bud loves them.
