Early 1960s PUMA knives are my favorite. Lord knows, while stationed in Landshut for two years, I was able to purchase several really great knives including the WHITE HUNTER which is my favorite. Thank you so very much, great video. I only wish RAMBO was armed with a PUMA instead of those over grown "bone crushers". Just my thoughts on the subject.

Thank you so much! Your English was perfect to teach me the history of the White Hunter and many different facts about the knife. I sincerely commend you for doing the video in English when you didn’t have to! Excellent insight into the knife and its history. Again, Thank You so much!

👍 I purchased my very first fixed blade knife in 1967, it was a Puma White Hunter. I have owned this knife for 55 years. In many ways it looks like a knife designed by a committee. But for a large fixed blade (6 inches is large for me) it does work very well as an all around camp knife. I probably will never sell it. Thank you for your interesting review of your friend’s White Hunter.

Almost exactly what I did. I found it too large and ground it down.

I recently acquired the White Hunter by luck (swop for another knife) and I have a Puma Bowie (wood handle) that I bought in the 1970's and has done many backpacking/bushveldt trips with me in S Africa. I bought the Bowie and spent some time worrying about the cost but the knife is still with me in good nick after over 40 years later, an excellent investment for the work it has done for me. Also in my collection a bone handled Puma Trail Guide which I inherited from my late father in law. The White Hunter is unique, and it attracts immediate attention from knife lovers but I have yet to use it in the bushveldt.

I had a Kiwi staying with ne and my first wife back in the early 1970s and as I was a fan of decent blades asked me what I would advise him to buy I said a Puma but he could not find one in Leeds He hitched to London 400 mile round trip and bought one I was envious as I could not afford one myself Anyway he later hitched all the way overland to India and got back home to N Z and managed to keep it despite several border crossings You can very easily have them taken from you nowadays

Great video! I’m watching from the American Midwest, where many Germans settled and became farmers. I’ve ran into puma knives many times interacting with fellow deer hunters. My grandad has one aswell, but not the white hunter model. I was laughing a bit watching; you and your friend both look like you’d fit in completely in my area, even though Germany is way across the Atlantic haha

Put a little flatter bevel on the smooth cutting edge, and it will shave wood with less pressure, and will make cleaner cuts.

This Puma White Hunter has one of the best blade shapes ever had been created. The biggest problem with this knife is most of the time sold out. The forge knife manufactur in Solingen Germany obviously resists the opportunity to sacrify the quality to produce higher number of pieces. Unfortunatly the price is a little bit high.

Many of the Classic Bushcraft guys like Nessmuk and Kephart found blades longer than 5 inches did not give them the working control they needed for skinning game, processing the smaller diameter wood they used for fires or for carving tools that were helpful to them in camp.
