The Shad Thames Pumping Station is located in Maguire Street, Bermondsey, London. The original pumping station was built by the London County Council in 1906 as the need to deal with the sewerage overflow from storm damage became urgent. This film is about the efficient gas engines (replaced by more a modern plant) that were housed at the station designed to pump excess storm sewage into the Thames. The film is narrated by Geoff Meade and features the industrial archaeologist Dr Robert Carr.
