@@rtxhoneybees thanks for the comment. We love the pump it definitely is a great tool we can use several different ways. Those barrels would be great space savers for use to keep the honey in, but since our bottling room is in our basement and for easier uncrystalizing we do transfer everything into 5 gallon buckets to store.
Tom-Just a little tip- you can take a piece of saran wrap, or plastic wrap and lay on the top of your honey. the capping sludge will stick to the wrap, and clean the honey.
@@soapstoneapiaries I thought about that, but didn’t know how well it would work with the bigger opening on the barrel and how much honey would get trapped in the Saran Wrap. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi, does the drums have a gasket in the lid? Are they airtight to effective store the honey? if so could you link where you purchased them. Also, would like a link to that pump as well.
@@KayiFarmJaHoneyBees yes they do have gaskets and are airtight. We only use them as settling tanks though and transfer the honey into 5 gallon buckets for easier handling. We purchase them from someone local off of Facebook Marketplace. Here is the link for the honey pump www.hillco.buzz/products/hillco-honey-pump
I'm not sure I can afford to be a beekeeper.🙄Every time I think I am starting to have the gear and tools I need I see there is so many more things, and they are expensive.😂Blessed Days...
Thank you for the comment! Beekeeping is not a cheap endeavor, but you can also get into it and keep it small without all of the large equipment and fancy gadgets. Beekeeping is challenging but very rewarding!😊
