Hi Diane, when you use a ch-3 turning chain, it generally counts as a double crochet, so don't use the stitch at the base of the dc, use the next one and that should keep your count nice and even :)

Hi! Yarn weight, hook size and personal tension can greatly effect the outcome of our projects - but in this case, the size isn't terribly important as it's meant for holding little goodies :)

Hi Alice, ohmygoodness yes! Your hook size directly impacts the gauge of your project! Small hook = small stitches = smaller project. Big hook = larger stitches = bigger project :)

i wanted to let you know the drawstring pumpkin pouch was a huge success =) so much so in fact, that the activity department at the nursing home i work for has requested a donation of 24 of them by the first of october ,so that they can be given out for prizes for the activity events, such as bingo, wammo and jackpot=) I love all your tutorials, and have made so many turtles for my residents that i have earned the nickname "the turtle lady" lol! Thanks again for all you do, and know that the creations you have taught me are given to the residents at the nursing home. They always bring a big smile to their sometimes not so fun lives. My next project is to make texting gloves , though i hope to increase the length so that they go up and over the elbows.. as i think these would be a wonderful and decarative alternative to the rather ugly and embarressing "skin sleeves" that we have to put on their arms and calves to prevent skin tears and bruising. One last thought.. if these pumpkin pouches are a success for the october month.. i hope to change the color scheme up a bit and create little "santa sacks" for the christmas season =D
