Hi, great vid, thank you very much. Just one question. How do I secure the yarn to stay firmly in? I mean, if I leave it as it is and accidentally pull the yarn, it will all come out. Or not? I am new to this and my logical thinking is confused. Thank you.
I bought a punch needle kit online from a craft store around a month ago but it was horrible the needle would not even go through the fabric it was complete garbage and I wish I hadn't wasted my money on it. There should be a certain standard you'd expect when you buy a craft kit of any kind that it should at least be doable. I think if punch needle kits available were of higher quality people wouldn't have so much trouble as beginners.
@@makaylanations4767 I wouldn't recommend it. It seems to be a purely decorative thing that can't be touched or worn. One pull and all the work is gone. Maybe a picture on the wall but that's about where it ends. T-shirts and pillow cases??? Are you nuts?🤪 How the hell will you wash them without the whole thing falling appart???🤔
After becoming disabled, I had to find a different outlet for my time, so I am always on the lookout for different things to do. When I happened across this, I was so excited. I. Went straight to the net and ordered several kits. Happy punching!!!
Best video ever. She explains step by step. This is the first punch needle tutorial that does what you expect. Shows you how to thread and start punching. Thank you!!! I am looking forward to shopping at your shop online. Thank you again.
I bought a store bought kit today and it was poor quality not enough yarn and struggled to get the canvas tight. Followed your tuition and that really helped. Will definitely purchase from you know I know what to do. 👍😁
@@susanmonks184 how are you doing? I was thinking of picking this up as a hobby, but I would like to be able to make things like pillowcases. This looks like it isn't secured. Like the stickers would dissolves the moment I would actually use it as a pillow... Is it so?
I got a punch needle kit for my birthday and had no idea how to do it. This was a huge help and now I’m working through the kit I got! Thank you for this video!
I had surgery on my wrist at the beginning of this year. I’ve been dying to get back into embroidery now that I’m healed enough to work on projects like this. But the thought of pulling the needle through the fabric straining my hand deterred me from getting back into it. So glad that this product exists and you explained it so well. Thank you!!
Having watched several tutorials I believe you are the 1st one to explain about which way the needle is to go...Just received my first little kit...felt a little intimidated thought I would try another tutorial...and here You are...🤗Thanks for the tip..so I subscribed & a👍..Ill be back for more😍😉🤭🙏
I done this years ago, have several different types of needles but my greatest inspiration for patterns was children’s coloring books, you can find some amazing patterns, photos!
I love you! Thank you! I just bought a kit from Walmart yesterday. Cheap as hell and I'm a beginner, so using crappy tools isn't going to be very beneficial. Can't wait to get the better kit!
Same here.. Bought today and cost peanuts but gave me a start. Don't think I could have got a start if I hadn't watched the video. Will spend more on a better quality now. 😁
I just discovered this needle craft. You are a good teacher. I'm a retired teacher, and library support staff person. I love needle crafts. Especially when I have an episode of chronic anxiety depression. It distracts my brain and I feel like I have accomplished something.
After watching other videos done by others, I noticed you work from front to back where they do back to front…. Your way makes more sense … I am a newbie … so thank you…
The "proper" way or "traditional" way is to work on the back of the work and keep the loops out front...but i was going for a different look for this piece of punch needle art. it works great either way though
I never knew this was even a thing I’ve always assumed it had to be done by hand sewing or embroidery machine tyyyy I’m so so excited making logos to go on sweaters this fall and winter for my family and friends !! ❤🎉🎉😅
I just got a beginner’s kit from a crafter off of Etsy. Been years since I did needlepoint or cross-stitch, and wondered why my stitches were so hard to do and more difficult to place than expected. Finally realized the fabric is canvas instead of monk’s cloth. DOH! I know lovely work can be done on just about any cloth, but I’d strongly recommend that beginners find a kit with monk’s cloth, or even Aida. Those lovely holes will make all the difference.
I love how you explained everything perfectly and clearly. You cut straight to the point and showed us each step without leaving important details out. I am buying stuff for punch needling and I needed to learn how to do it and this is the best video i could have watched!! Thank you so much and i look forward to start punch needling soon.
I was at this flea market in 1990 where I saw this man and woman selling these items for needle punch. The woman even had classes in her home; I was in her classes for two years until she moved out of the area. I thought this craft was lots of fun, and I'm coming back to it now
You’re amazing at explaining the process. I was a little bit nervous but I really wanted to give this a try & your video has helped me feel more confident in giving it a shot! ✨
This is the best video I've seen yet. I'm a bigginer and have yet to purchase my supplies. This video is so easy to understand I'm actually super excited to get started soon. Thank you so much.
I bought a punch needle kit for Christmas but I didn’t know how to do it. The instructions didn’t say how to start it! This video was a great piece of help.😊 Thanks so much!
I really enjoyed your video! It's my first video introduction to punch needling! I'm really happy I came across this craft. It reminds me of embroidery but it's so much easier!
Thanks so much. Your tutorial is excellent!! I crochet all the the time, and I wanted to try something new. This is just what I was looking for. Can't wait to try it!!
I've been looking for a project my 94 year old mother could handle. I think she can do this one. She used to knit so I'm sure this can be just as enjoyable. Thanks for this video.
Literally just picked up this hobby. Someone had asked me if this was similar to needle point embroidery which it isn’t since needle requires each stitch to be knotted off before starting a new.
Thank you SO MUCH. I've been cross stitching and needle pointing for years and got myself a simple punch needle kit for Christmas, and I was going nuts trying to figure out how to get started... the confusingly translated directions definitely weren't helping. It's going to take some practice, but at least my first stitch isn't pulling right back out with the needle!
Loved this video. You explained everything very well. Just bought my kit and going to try to start a pattern once I get the hang of using the pen. Again thanks for a great video
That is so cute. I’ve seen people try this without success but I see having a long length of yarn and punching close to the last stitches seems to be the trick. Also nice finishing with the lining cloth. Take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
haha thanks. just trying to give all the details. even after the "long winded" video, I still get emails every day with questions on how to do it, haha!
I tell you you are amazing! Anything I think of doing crafts wise you have thought of doing it too and have a video for it! I love it! I'm so thankful for you helping me get started making earrings and now I can't wait to get started with punch needle work as well!!!
Hi there, thank you for the video!! I was shopping around looking for a lot before coming to RU-vid to look at tutorials. I noticed that this video is being used as someones product preview video on Amazon. It's sped up and has no sound. But it's definitely your video. Feel free to DM me if you would like the link. Hopefully no one is using your content to sell their product ❤️😊
I wish I knew before starting this tutorial that this is Backwards Punch Needle and not Traditional Punch Needle. My plant turned out great, but it only looks good on the 'back-side' not the looped 'front side.' I thought all punch needle projects were made with the side you're working on being the back. This left me a bit confused and disappointed since I was planning on making this a plant coaster.
This is backwards! The side with the loops is supposed to be the outside, just like the high school varsity letters. They do have a machine for making them
. There is a loop side and a stitch side, you choose which is the front. Also, it’s obvious by looking at the finished project that she’s using the stitch side and not the loop side as the front.
The loop side is traditional Russian punch needlework. When the flat side is used as the front, it’s actually called Bunka needlework. You can use either side you wish for the front.
Thank you so much, fantastic job of showing us how it is done. I got a kit for christmas and after watching this video i am very excited to get started on it. Thanks you.
She shows the back after 7 minutes. Tension keeps it in place. Some people add glue on the back you don’t really have to if the item won’t get heavy use and is hanging on a wall.
Looks fun except I would definitely use Fabritac glue instead of hot glue, its made for fabric and so much more. Give it a try! You can get it at WalMart or online
Thanks for this excellent tutorial. I received a kit from a different company as gift from a friend and the instructions were not very clear. Can’t wait to start my project and I’ll be sure to check out your Etsy shop too.
So, you work on the front of the design. I am a beginner and bought a kit that I work on the back of the design. I like that I can see the loops that are being made as you go along.
i keep seeing punch needle things like cushions and rugs and whatnot and I love it I think it looks amazing. HOWEVER...one thing that unnerves me about it is that it seems to literally just be loops through - if i get a heel, nail or a button caught in a loop isn't the entire thing just going to unravel? I don't see how the stitches are secure or how this is actually robust enough for a practical object rather than something in a frame on a wall where people can't mess with it by accident? I'd love to give it a go though. I had one of these when I was a kid and i threw it out because of that reason but it also didn't come with any instructions so i dunno if I was doing it wrong or something.
I bought a punch needle last week. We were at a craft store and my husband asked for something to punch a hole through his leather belt. I had no idea what i bought, i just figured it would work. I didn’t even know this was a thing! I’m excited now and will definitely not be using it to stab leather lol 😂
This is amazing !! I need a couple of tips tho and I also think your kit is great I bought some they are great but I don’t understand what I did wrong and the everything is messed up
Hi, thank you for the video. It's my first time trying, very excited. Is there also an option to use the embroidery ring again? It seems like a bit of waist to me..
People who make rugs use something like a giant electric punch needle, when they're finished with a project they scrape glue on the back in a thin layer and let it dry to ensure nothing comes undone. I would suggest doing that after you're done with a punch needle project, laying a small layer of glue on the back
