#ncaawrestling #ajferrari #iowawrestling #collegewrestling AJ Ferrari throws punches at Zach Glazier and gets DQ'd at the 2023 Soldier Salute wrestling Iowa wrestler Zach Glazier.
Absolutely. Brands brothers shit themselves in the foot with this one. AJ is a nut and has not learned anything. This guys is supposed to be your teammate lol
Big stain on wrestling if people aren't held accountable for their actions. This is not normal. The actions of the Ferrari kids are a reflection the parents. Big fail on the parents.
@@michaellong2595turnoff? when Zach clearly swung at AJ first?? i understand being angry that you were controlled the entire bout but you can’t act like that and then get mad when your opponent swings back at you.
You gotta give John Smith and Oklahoma State credit, they kept this whole family under control for a good chunk of time without the rest of the wrestling world knowing.
I absolutely loved the last minute stall call on AJ. Ive been SCREAMING for this type of thing for years. He was obviously avoiding wrestling, content to win a Will Lewan type 2-1 match featuring 1 escape & riding time. Kudos to that ref!
As for Iowa, I think the Ferraris fit in perfect with the Brands brothers. They were dirty when they wrestled, they've had multiple dirty wrestlers over the years, so what is a few more? I personally don't care for any of the Ferraris, but I do hope that the youngest one can see how bad all the stuff is going on with his older brothers and steer clear of that type of behavior. If that's the type of atmosphere he's being raised in, the prospect of him being any different isn't good.
AJ is a loose cannon. I know the Brands are competitive and want to win but I wouldn’t let him anywhere near the Hawkeye Wrestling Room let alone wear the black and gold. If they think they can control him they’re wrong. He clearly doesn’t listen to anyone but himself. The Iowa fans made it loud and clear what they thought of him.
As an observer of the sport, I really appreciated the moment to moment breakdown of the reasons he got disqualified. Poor sportsmanship on full display.
The Ferraris are on one team. Team Ferrari. All others are ones they use to get what they want. The two here think they are justified to react. The 149 will say he was shoved first. A.J will say the other guy threw an elbow ( ignoring he pushed his head down and shoved him) With Ferrari's it's always going to be us against the everybody. Any slight, they have to answer.
I absolutely LOVED that Ferrari flex in Anthonys face tho. You can tell the Iowa wrestlers dont even like the Ferarris. Someone needs to remind the Brands bros what Terrell Owens did to the Dallas Cowboys. He ran Bill Parcells off & was an absolute cancer. Its time to cut & run.
The Ferrari matches both featured the only poor behavior in the championships. Brooks is going to SMASH AJ. Head to the UFC Mr slow twitch, your best years were spent in a courtroom fighting a rape charge. The Brands have invested in fools gold with these clowns🍑💨💩
When I saw Anthony Ferarri wearing DeSantos singlet I was like wow...of courzlse he's wearing that! Chittums comments leaving Iowa are 100% justified. Cut those lovers. There's no room for their shenanigans in wrestling
In a turn of events that everyone saw coming AJ made a fool of himself and the sport yet again. He clearly can’t control his emotions and it’s a big problem. If brands still wants this cancer in his room he’s making a huge mistake.
AB dummyflings AJ. No doubt and turns him twice at least. His athleticism and pride will keep him from being pinned, but AB mollywhop techs him. Angelo is the most technical by far. We didn’t get to see that in the finals during world champ Sealy. But he wrestled well the entire tournament. He might not win as a freshman but he’ll win the most NCAA titles out of all the brothers. The Iowa staff will have to create a Lamar Ball Rule and keep the family out of the program. Just a fan like everyone else.
Oh yea, I agree. Angelo is very talented. I think he can do big things, I’d just like to see him continue to develop, especially in his top game. The ability to turn top ranked guys in college will be the difference between winning and losing big matches.
I think they took offense towards the end. If the match ended without any drama, I think everything would’ve been fine and Iowa would rally hard behind AJ. But once it started to get out of hand and continue to escalate, the majority of sounds I heard were not very positive
Wow ... A lot of people out here talking a lot of stuff they don't know much about just what they see on TV! I'll just look at the facts as freshman year he has a NCAA champion!
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears” You can believe whatever you want but it’s very clear what happened. His freshman season was 3 years ago, a lot has changed since then.
Come on... pretty selective short term memory on DeSanto. He literally tried to fight another Iowa wrestler's dad in the stands, screaming at him that he was going to kill him.
The Univ. Iowa athletic dept had nothing to do with the gambling scandal, that was the State of Iowa Dept of Criminal Investigation, that started an investigation, and once they heard about it, the NCAA suspended the athletes. Weird thing is underage gambling evidently only happens in Iowa.
While the officiating might not be great, wrestlers are taught from a young age to not leave it in the officials hands. Im sure we’ve all been on the winning and losing end of a ref making a controversial call.
6:47 dsanto had one incident? Wth are you talking about? Screaming in suriano's face, being arrogant with 2 or 3 other matches that year . Do you pay attention
One issue prior to enrolling at Iowa. All those issues you mention occurred once he transferred from Drexel to Iowa. So he was in the Brands room so I didn’t name them
Anyone else notice the disconnect between AJ and the coaches in his corner? Have NEVER seen that in any match. We're seeing only a fraction of what's going on in the room. And this soap opera will continue until the Ferraris leave or the Iowa team casts them out.
How does the saying go, “Uncoachable kids become unemployable adults”. Regardless of how talented you are or aren’t, coaches are there to help guide you. There’s a reason they are in your corner.
I'm a HUGE college wrestling fan, a PSU alum with an obvious bias towards the Lions, but I want to see good, solid, competitive wrestling from Iowa and other schools. I also like to see classy wrestlers who can win and lose with humility. I actually feel bad for all those Ferrari kids. Why? Because the behaviors they unfortunately display over and over again are a by product of parenting. My father wanted me to win and be successful in all of the sports that I played, and I HATED to lose, but my father taught me a few things about the right behaviors, things that would prove useful to me in all aspects of my life. Throwing punches at an opponent and pushing them (Caleb Rathjen) after a match, really?? I can't imagine their father watching that and not having a sit-down with them both of them. Here's my advice, which I'm sure none of the Ferrari's would ever want (given the parenting they've had): 1) Watch all of Peyton Robb's wrestling matches. His class and humility is something every wrestler should subscribe to. They don't come any better than him! 2) Leave Iowa, and wrestle somewhere else. If you keep up that nonsense up with your own teammates, you will wreck that fine program. Iowa - let those Ferrari kids go somewhere else. PSU and Iowa will always remain conpetitive without toxic wrestlers like the Ferrari's. Your program is too successful to have kids displaying that kind of nonsense.
You’re reading way too into it.. this is what makes wrestling entertaining.. clearly by how many views and discussions stemmed from this.. but weak men want all class and snooze fest matches. Meanwhile, compared to professional sports, MMA, WWE etc.. this is child’s play. Better to be real, rather than act “classy” (fake), when the goody two shoes are usually the ones harboring the most hate and contempt in secret. All fake virtue. Aj is a real one that doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him, and has the balls to say what all the passive men think in secret when they are in that arena
@@michaelnorth2055 Ah yes, giving the finger and doing the splits in front of a home crowd filled with veterans at an event to thank soldiers. Truly sending a message for the passive men out there. Win and lose with class, it’s what the best wrestlers in the world do. It’s the lesson this sport teaches from 3 years old. Shake hands, fight like a dog, shake hands and leave it at that.
@@paulf6321 Man, we gotta get you on the podcast. You’re very well spoken, or written in this case and seem to have years of wisdom. Appreciate your comments and hope we can all learn from you sir.
That's a shame you feel and think that way. I'm hoping you're just young and immature. If not, may God help you, brother. Oh, and by the way, I seriously doubt that Peyton Robb is virtue signaling, as you implied. And if I had to choose between having a son, brother or friend like AJ Ferrari or Peyton Robb, I could make that choice instantaneously. And lastly, reacting to every emotion or thought that enters the brain, or controlling that and doing what one knows is right, is what separates human beings from other animals. That's why being classy is difficult for some, because it's much harder than allowing primal instincts to drive one's behavior. If you truly think "classy" is fake, I suggest you do some reading.
God damn ... AJ is a Joke and to do this during the Soldier Salute is even worse, Brands needs to get rid of him, we don't need this at Iowa. The Ferrari's are a different dread all together, aggressive, but also more AJ has been a huge dumpster fire for a long time, Brands needs to get his guys in line, this is just a disgrace.
I think it’s pretty obvious that AJ does not want to this wrestling thing anymore and can’t say I blame any of them when they can go make crazy money doing mma or in wwe. This used to be a combat sport but yet everyone treats it like a no contact sport. Not many of the great ones want to keep smashing their bodies up for little to nothing anymore they all want money now 😢
I’d say his most infamous moment was at Drexel. At Iowa he mellowed but maintained a “fierce competitor”. He wasn’t starting fights. I think his moment with Nick Suriano was the most intense but it wasn’t on the level of AJ and his future teammate
He must have a plan to call attention to his name so he can move onto MMA or WWE and already have a more followers going in. I had no idea who this dude was until today.
7/10 bonus rate and he’s “not” a big bonus guy because his former matches against other all-Americans weren’t bonuses…scratching my head guys! Who bonuses frequently against other top 5 guys. AJ doesn’t believe rules apply to him because he’s bigger than the event. He didn’t learn a thing from his head-on auto accident that he was the sole cause of. He didn’t learn a thing from being let go by the goat at OSU. He’s been incredibly fortunate, but genuinely ungrateful. I think the WWE should be his single and sole suitor at this point.
I’ve always been a big believer in legal pain between the whistles. If the ref or the corner doesn’t say anything during the match than it’s fine. But once the match ends, so does the legal pain.
@michaellong2595 I'm not saying wwe that's obvious. I'm talking about in the NCAA'S in current college wrestling they can sell Ferrari t shirts do more things that make them the heel family of Folkstyle wrestling.
I saw a video of the split but had no idea he flipped off the crowd. What an out of control baby. 2nd place at a tournament like this is respectable, but they made a mockery of the event. Clearly the team does not want the Ferrari drama at Iowa.
I don’t think the result is necessarily the issue. AJ is a well known talented wrestler. His reaction to the result was the issue. I think the lack of support from the Iowa fans and his possible future teammates is what caused the flipping off of the crowd.
This is unrelated to this video but I’m interested in the idea of reffing or being an assistant wrestling coach at a lower level like middle school. I’m assuming I can’t do both so how do I pick which one I should do?
I’m not sure what state you’re from, but you can most definitely ref and Coach while in CT. I have high school wrestlers that ref youths and I know of high school coaches that ref high school and youth. Just have to deal with conflict of interests teams.
If you have to pick one, I’d start with coaching. I’m biased but I find coaching to be really enjoyable. Officiating is great too and will really help you to develop with your coaching abilities and give you a better understanding for the sport.
@@michaellong2595 ok I would definitely be willing to do both, I just assumed there would be a conflict of interest so that’s good to hear. I definitely am not built to be a head coach as I am not much of a speaker or leader type but I could definitely assist with technique and general organization and tips.
I honestly agree that Aj went overboard and was very classless like cmon man win and walk off and Anthony with the shove cause he lost is petty and they just leave it in the match not after it before
There’s levels kids. See when the chips are down are perhaps the ref is trying to take a match from you. There’s two ways to react. 1. You can look for the next stalling call like Zach and continue the BS. 2. You can go get the takedown and make it undeniable. Way to fight Champ, you’re still getting your wind but this is what you needed. Now we turn it up more. It’s a process homie and we can’t wait to see you back on top. We got to be smarter than that while knowing you’ve got the biggest target on your back right now. 🙏🏼
Perfect fit for Iowa and it's fans. The three stooges . Typical WWA !!!!!!! DeSanto had nothing on this guy. Hopefully this CIRCUS doesn't come to town 🤡
Unacceptable can expect this is WWE or basketball. Wrestling has always been good sportsmanship. He should be suspended. I realize he hit his head in the accident but might be some roid rage too.
In practice, maybe. Tensions fly, that’s okay. But then to continue after and give the finger to the home crowd, and have a temper tantrum while trying to show the world you’ve changed is something that any coach wouldn’t allow.
This guy knows nothing about AJ.. Just a hater like the Iowa fans at that tournament.. All the Iowa wrestlers have attitudes...These commentators are just gobble mouths. Both threw a punch...Should have been yelled at and ignored. N
I’ll never understand some officials need to get involved in matches. That first stall hit was crazy. If you’re rewarded for riding time, you can’t hit a guy for stalling because he’s been riding for some time. I get it, trust me I honestly do. They want you “working for turns when on top”. But it’s not always realistic and you need to be educated. On top, your job is: 1. Pressure, pressure, pressure. 2. Do not let him up. 3. Do not let him reverse you. 4. Do not let him up escape you. 5. Then you go for swipes. When he’s hit again for a point, I’m ready throw my recliner through my iPad screen. I know being an official is a very tough and thankless job. However, we’re at the tipping point now in both HS and NCAA wrestling where the talent level of these kids have surpassed the talent level of the officials. We gotta be better than this. 🙏🏼 Brah must’ve gotten tired of Papa Ferrari yelling with his biceps out all tournament. Ya see he wasn’t allowed in the corner for the finals. 🤔. Again, we gotta be better than this. This was boiling up the entire match. AJ shouldn’t have thrown a punch but this is on the ref’s poor judgement and repeated shady calls that started this. And let’s not forget, he still beat Iowa’s #1 97 pounder and isn’t in great shape yet. Just saying 🤷🏻♂️
Yea the stalling calls were not great in this match. But we as wrestlers need to rise above and sometimes have to compete with two opponents, the other guy we are wrestling and the ref. Yea I see no Ferrari father in the corner, wonder how that would have changed things positively or negatively. I gotta disagree with you there, AJ should be beating Glazier by more. Assuming there’s no second stall call, he wins 2-1, over the #25 ranked wrestler at the weight class. On his first return to the mat from injury, Pat Kennedy, someone who has not accomplished what AJ has, beat MJ Gaitan in a match that was just as close. Gaitan was ranked #25 at the time as well.
Wow!! Not a good showing for your second chance in College wrestling. I was hoping that he learned a lesson from the first incident. Like watching him wrestle, but can do without the antics!!!
Maybe this will be the wake up call he needs. He did share some sort of apology on his social media. That seems like a good step in the right direction.
@@joshhunsberger1413 It was a joke reference to AJ claiming that on all his social media platforms. Everyone knows Cael Sanderson is the great folkstyle wrestler ever, let alone the greatest 197lb wrestler ever.
I know this part isn't about wrestling but, the Bible DOES NOT say that the earth is flat. It says God hung the SPHERE of the earth in the heavens. Whether you believe the Bible or not, don't misquote it to try to make a point.
@@michaellong2595 because "experts" who've never read/studied say so and because people who don't like what it teaches know most people won't look into it, so they can say whatever they want about it and get by with it. It's the same with a lot of other things people say is in the Bible, but isn't. Not trying to turn this into a biblical or religious debate though, so that'll be the last I say on this part of the story.
@@chrispeck1325 Nah don’t worry, I appreciate the talk about religion. I agree, a lot of people try to “misquote” the Bible in order to cause an issue. Glad there’s gentlemen such as yourself to call out BS when you see it.
Woah, that’s awesome you were there and got to see it live. Would love to hear your perspective on it and thank you for sharing your view from the stands with us.
If it was for AJ’s match and how it ended NO one would even be talking about this tournament! For the less than average fan of college wrestling I can’t even name one other guy/girl who wrestled in this event! The amount of free publicity that this tissey got let’s just say no one should be mad! Hahah it’s wrestling not a ballerina recital- all of these guys in this video giving their takes on this event needs to get their Testostrone levels checked asap! God these are the guys that talk about wrestling? Hint- maybe drink some coffee or some preworkout and get some energy! Cause damn this was about as bad as it can get! Also to the one guy with the long hair it’s time to let it go! Just shave it! Please it’s over it’s gone- donate it to Locks Of Love! It’s for people with cancer who lose their hair due to chemo-
You’re kinda right, it’s a smaller tournament, which is why “the greatest 197lb wrestler ever” should have dominated. It was supposed to be the coming out party for the Ferrari family. They both lost, but the bigger issue was him acting like a toddler after the match. Get your testosterone checked? Bro, it’s a RU-vid video providing commentary. If we were screaming and yelling, it wouldn’t be very progressional. Sorry you didn’t like that it was a calm and rational conversation. Jack has donated his hair in the past, it needs to be a certain length to donate. Appreciate you taking such interest in his hair style.
Re. stalling as a penalty, I'm not a fan, but as the rules are was glad the point was awarded. It's just that, in my opinion, awarding a point for riding time and also having a stall for just riding seems nonsensical to me. Do away with riding time and let them ride for no points if they want. Their riding time point, as it were, would be for not allowing an escape for a full two minutes. I think wrestlers would be more motivated to turn their opponent if they didn't get a point for just riding them. Or they'd more often cut sooner and go takedowns.
It doesn't matter if he instigated the fight. You can't throw punches. No self control and bad for the sport.. Aaron Brooks is gonna kick the crap out of Ferrari and probably Hidlay, Buchanan and Sloan
