One of music's most enduring, innovative and influential frontwomen is to headline the north east’s longest running music festival. Siouxsie Sioux, lead singer of Siouxsie and the Banshees, has made a huge impact on generations of artists from PJ Harvey to Florence and the Machine. Her performance at the Mouth of the Tyne festival in July is one of just 4 live UK dates announced this summer and is expected to sell out within minutes.

Very happy that she is still active, I do however hope that she has been working on her voice during this time. Her latest live outings before the hiatus ranged from passable to rough. The highest notes of many of their old songs have been out of her range for many years now, so either I'm hoping for a newly and miraculously refurbished voice or modified versions of the songs, changing their key or otherwise to make it possible for her to sing without obvious strain.

I agree. However, her vocal on 2015's single, "Love Crime" was classic Sioux, aged like a fine wine. I'm fascinated to hear what a live performance of that underrated classic single will sound like, in 2023. I hope and have a feeling that she may have been working with a vocal coach, since she had to after having emergency nasal surgery, in 2003/4, due to sinus infections, asthma, and bronchitis, as a result of quitting smoking in 2003. I'm hoping the growing volume of concert dates is a sign that she's been practicing and rehearsing, and feels confident in her abilities. Of course, I can't be the only one hoping that these performances might be in lieu of a forthcoming sophomore solo album, 15 years after her 2007 debut. Hope springs eternal.

Not putting a downer on it but her voice was pretty shot in 2002, hope it will be good. Wonder if she's on going to be the one and only original member too which doesn't draw me in either.

I wish she would come to Helsinki or Stockholm. I've been a lifelong fan since the late 80s. I've seen the Banshees twice in the early 90s, and I would LOVE to see her again!
