I know very little about punk. It is so cool to think of all of the little bands deep out there in all of the sub genres like punk, metal, etc. I'm into the early, late 70's Adam Ant, which was punk at the time, but I know there is so much more out there.
@bipbopboom

Hey Jeff!! Punk rock, like every other genre, just never ends! Punk is no different than metal with the amount of obscure bands, rarities, demos etc that keep getting discovered and released. Hi Jon. Some really rare and interesting records here. I bought the Rings' single back in the day, so I was interested to see 'I Don't Wanna Go To Work' by Maniacs. Great posing on the front cover by the band! ... Mutants on the Rox label looks interesting. I wonder if they'd been in pre-punk bands and decided to jump on the bandwagon ... Those Mad Butcher re-issues look cool. Also, that Boss 45 on Static Shock. Cheers, Carl

Hey Carl!! Thanks for watching! Yeah, that Rings is a killer as is the first Maniacs! I have no doubt the Mutnants were already musicians before the punk rage. Cool records. 😎 I was into Punk Rock 🧷 as a teenager. British Punk mostly. I liked the Damned, the Sex Pistols, the Stranglers, the Buzzcocks. That, 'chick' you skirt over is Beki a Punk Rock trailblazer aged only 14 in the formation of Vice Squad. Note just how male centric Punk Rock was and still is.. it takes balls of steel for females to cope with the boys club being dismissed as little more than groupies or eye candy.
@bipbopboom
@bipbopboom 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for your information and views!! I appreciate it! I didn’t skirt over anyone on purpose. I am not an expert in punk especially not the 80s British stuff. Except for GBH, Discharge, UK Subs and a few others, I’d never heard any other bands from that era. So I wasn’t intentionally trying to disrespect or skip over anyone’s talent or contribution to RnR. I appreciate the facts and opinion you dropped in the comments! People correct me or give additional information all the time, that’s what makes this fun! I will do more research on Vice Squad and listen to them with new ears and a different perspective! I sometimes call women ‘chicks’ and I call men ‘cats’ or ‘dudes’. Just the way I talk. I do these videos for fun and for free. If you’re looking for faults, mistakes, wrong viewpoints, bad facts etc., you’ll find plenty!! Haha! But if you’re trying to ascribe misogyny or not taking women seriously in Rock’n’roll, you got the wrong guy! Not gonna find that in any of my videos or in my life. Check out the live streams I’ve done with my wife. She knows more about punk and is way better DJ than me. I’ve never not taken women seriously. Thank you for watching. No, I never did. By the time those bands came along I was deep into the rockabilly scene. I missed a lot of the nineties music. Thanks for watching David! I appreciate it! Have a good one! Jon

That's a great stack of records. The kind of stuff I tune in for. Where did you get that incredible shirt?

Hey Philip! Thanks for watching!! Always appreciated!! I think I got the shirt at a weekender punk fest in NYC, but not 100% sure. Definitely didn’t order it online as I was drunk enough to think it was a good idea. Ha! Have a good one brother!! Cheers, Jon

Some good stuff there Jon. The British punk ones are classics. If you're into some modern punk checkout Big Joanie, saw them live a few months ago, they were pretty good considering I didn't know them. Enjoy spinning

Thanks Grant!! Appreciate it! Can’t go wrong with the old British punk!! I like some new bands, but I just don’t keep up that much anymore. Thanks for the recommendation! I will remember the name. I just don’t have enough money to buy everything. I’m into too many different genres. Ha! Newer bands, I prefer to see them live if it’s possible. Half the time I buy a newer band, I spin the record or cd once and file it away, I’m ashamed to say. Haha! Have a good one!! Cheers, Jon

@@bipbopboom yeah I know what you mean. It's hard enough keeping up with all the metal releases let alone other genres.

@@bipbopboom although I was quite into the early punk scene I was only 11 or 12 back in 1976/77 so was too young to see the early stuff live. I really started going to gigs when the 2nd generation of punks bands came along from 1980 onwards. Over the years I've honestly seen thousands of gigs sometimes going to 3 or 4 a week even on one occasion two in one night lol. London was a real buzzing place with the 80s punk scene.

@@TheFairway8 very cool either way! I didn’t get into punk until the late 80s. Still learning about the old British stuff today!! I lived in Boston and like you would go to shows up to four times a week and often leave a show early to catch another one! I saw many gigs, but a large portion would not be major bands, just our local bands and smaller touring bands. Cheers!!

Hiya. To the astonishment of all my mates I’ve gotten into punk I think it’s the social economical and political travails that we are all experiencing in the world today that has led to my profound sense of disillusionment with those in power. I see dozens of homeless people every day. It has never been as bad as far as I can remember… I identify with the anger and energy of this punk stuff now! For me, I’m especially into the anarchopunk thing - specifically Crass, Poison Girls. In fact, I have starting collecting anything on 45 on the Crass label. But am interested in looking further Do you have any reccies along those lines? (By the way, we have a mutual friend Bobby baby Gass. I was just talking to him on the phone yesterday-he is in great form!)

Thanks for watching and commenting Ben!! I’ve heard or seen your name around years ago. Yeah Bobby is a good guy!! I’m not into Crass or the political side of punk that much. But I feel the struggle of daily life and the pressure release valve is inherent in a lot of punk rock even if the lyrics don’t specifically speak about it. My tastes lean towards musics created by the working class and rejects, rebels and misfits of society. I love early Cock Sparrer, they are a great band with London working class lyrics. Patrik Fitzgerald was a punk/ folk singer from 77 punk scene. He has a unique style with brutally honest lyrics. I definitely recommend checking him out. He had some great eps and lp. There is an excellent best of cd that I think you would like. Thanks again!! Have a good one!! Cheers, Jon
