FMA 101 - EP 14: In this video, we discuss the punyo strikes. Punyo is the butt end of your stick closest to your fist, and each FMA system has a preferred desired length of the punyo. Used in corto (close) range as a pummeling/bludgeoning or scrapping attack, it is one of the more brutal and damaging attacks within close or grappling range.

It's the most primal attack, a hammer fist motion. Just use add a weapon and it become 10 times more damaging.

Hello, Jesse. Nice video about the applications of the Punyo Strikes! May I ask the purpose of the tape on your baston? Is there an advantage or purpose for the tape? Thank you.

Thank you. Usually I tape up my sticks once they start to splinter or crack. I get a few more training session out of them before I have to get new ones. Sometimes I'll do it when I get new sticks and I'll tape them up to try and extend their life span.
