sir, you taught rmp of smooth muscle - 35 to 45 but in guyton it is - 50 to - 60mv which one to follow

- 50 to -60 mV is near the RMP of the autorhythmic cells (SA nodal cell). Those cells show pacemaker potential. Smooth muscle cell does not show autorhythmicity or pacemaker potential. From - 35 to - 45 mV, the smooth muscle membrane slowly rises to threshold and then generates a spike (that leads to its contraction).

I follow Berne & Levy, Boron & Boulpaep, and Ganong. And, of course, Guyton. Figures are always a controversial issue. Different authors give different values. I apply the Physiological logic, to take one value, among the different values given for the same concept.
