Just found your reviews recently and having a blast plowing through all of them. I am sure you have seen by now, but Barbara Crampton actually returns to the Puppetmaster world in the 2018 entry The Littlest Reich (yeah, name pretty much says it all)!! (sorry if this is covered in a review I haven't seen yet)
I wish RU-vid would've recommended your videos to me earlier. I marathoned your Hellraiser reviews for 3-whatever that last one is last night. Anyway, I happened to get a DVD full of Puppetmaster movies at Sears for $7. I rather liked 1 & 2 and can't help but think that if the two movies were combined into one - obviously massive script overhauls - giving it a Phantom Of The Opera meets Nightmare On Elm Street vibe, but with puppets and no burned pedophiles - the resulting movie would be terrifying.
Binged watch your Hellraiser series reviews. Loved it. Hopefully you'll do the Saw franchise soon. Especially since rumor is there should be a new movie coming out sometime this year or next..maybe? Lol!
It's a Charles Band film fer gawd's sake. A Full Moon Production. It wasn't known that there would be a sequel. But it did well, so they made a sequel, and then more. I LOVE Full Moon Productions, I LOVE cheap horror and sci fi. And the iconic Puppetmaster theme song is by Richard Band, Charles' brother.
I feel when I watch your videos that we are like friends even though we've never met. You are so knowledgeable yet casual that you make it feel like a friend discussing and laughing with friends. Never condescending and that's why I love your content. Hope you're keeping safe during this Deusdaecon, and you viewers also
I’m glad you think that, that is honestly the kind of style i was going for knowledgeable yet snarky Saturday evening couch talk, and just want to make sure your “hope your keeping safe” comment make me think you might not have seen the last month and a half of uploads, if not feel free to check em out
@@deusdeaconReviews I'm glad you appreciate that, and honestly I'm not 100 percent sure. I know you are very professional and you rarely talk personal matters. I will keep watching as have Mandy and Colour out of space
Other puppet proposals to go along with leech vomiting puppet included clubbed foot puppet, spina bifida puppet, carbon monoxide puppet, polka puppet, and wallpaper puppet.
Heh, this will be an interesting series, once it's complete. Also, I looked at wikipedia pages for the series, and in one of them, Young Toulon is played by Mark from The Room. Woooow, talk about the easy jokes.
I have been binging your vids for the past 2 days. Really love the content. Really like that it is older movies, sometimes more obscure. Thank you good man.
I completely agree. The unnerving Burton-like style of puppets combined woth the possibility that a new movie might throw something as out of the blue as death by leech-vomiting puppet gives the franchise a long cult following shelf-life.
0:44 Thirteen?! Did you say THIRTEEN?! With two more on the way? Good Grief! And I thought "The Land Before Time" sequels had over-stayed their welcome! :O Why does it seem like I've seen this setup before? Something about just screams "Generic" and "Overused". :/
+Deusdaecon Reviews Well, Paul Le Mat (Alex) and Irene Miracle (Dana) are decently high-profile. Both had at least Golden Globes under their belt, the former with two, and Miracle was both in Midnight Express and Dario Argento's Inferno.
oh my, i was thinking at least this series have the hellraiser factor of "the two first at least are good" but what a weak start, thanks for take the pain for us, i really like a lot your reviews im not a horror movie guy but im been able to know more about this genre thanks to your channel
After 10 minutes of the review I ask: Gee, with a movie comprised of psychic characters, how can they not see danger coming? I don’t think I need to be a psychic to see this movie isn’t very good.
Been bingeing on your vids.... I'm thoroughly pleased to see you got to the puppet master series (there' not many good ones, but one or two of them are at least watchable). I'd love to request two things: Pumpkinhead and The Thirteenth Floor.
Also, you may have recognized barbara, but the actor that played Toulon was William Hickey, whom has been in a bajillion horror roles... (including even voicing the doctor in Nightmare before Christmas).
I could only recognised him from Mousehunt frankly, So I didn't feel the need to mention it, also I only mentioned Crampton because she's shown up in other reviews quite prominently.
5:18-5:34 I've seen so many horror movies (and reviews of them), to not be surprised by this, the Amityville Horror franchise uses psychics all the time.
The psychic looks similar to pianist Ivo Pogorelich. Look it up and tell me I'm wrong. But your description was apt and witty too :) big love Deusdaecon
I've wanted you to this for so long. I can't wait to see what you have to say about the timeline. I am curious about which you think is the worst between 6 and 8. I think number 3 is the best.
like your new set deus! can you do more occult stuff like the book reviews and maybe do like semi-documentary episodes on different things from occult lore in the same spirit as your the absinthe review and could you do Kubo and the two strings? keep up the great work.
Please, Please, Please, do the Child's play and Chucky movies. I am such a huge fan of them and I would love to see your take on the. Most of the movies you have on your channel are movies i've never seen but i can't help to watch your reviews because they are either really insightful of hilariously funny.. either way I'm hooked to your channel. So much so infact that i benched watched most your videos already. Any ways Great JOB keep up the work and I will continue to watch :D
At some point, would you consider reviewing Luc Besson's Joan of Arc film, The Messenger? It would be something nice to review, especially as the film was merely a vehicle built up for Milla Jovovich, his then-wife, and how he clearly suffered from the same problem Paul W.S. Anderson would have with her for Resident Evil.
You know, Dues, they could have just easily said that Toulon was simply tapped into the power to bring puppets to life and once that was the case he could do so easily. One simple thing, and that's all that was needed.Granted, it isn't a perfect explanation, but at least its more than just a few seconds of so-called ritual magic.
I didn't forget, Torch was created by a half crazy and undead (and possibly non-canon) toulon, so you could argue he's in a "different" frame of mind at that point.
does Toulon say "life come a live" or "life, from my life" because the actual track Richard Band composed for that scene is 'from my life' but everyone always says its 'come to life'
Are you looking forward to reviewing the newest Hellraiser film coming out? You really reignited my love for the story, and its why I first started watching your channel. It would be nice to have a round number and a better final film for the franchise.
This movie sat besides Gholies and other such movies in the videostore back in the day lol. Great review. I had no idea there were thirteen of these. Good luck with the other twelve. I thought it was Gallagher who made the more psycho puppets (except the knife one) but it was a very long time ago.
You could've argued that gallagher made pinhead, tunneller and leech women cause they weren't in the flashback with toulon, however they all exist in the sequels, including the ones taking place before puppet master, so that explanation can't work at all
Yes I only seen one and I think on the back cover it said that the knife puppet was based on his fear of the Nazis or something. I remember this very vaguely lol.
well blade (as we'll see in the third film) his appearance is made to look like a gestapo officer toulon knew, and it contains the soul of Dr hess, who wanted to work with and help toulon,
@@deusdeaconReviewsI haven't seen Jigsaw, but I thought the first two or so were good. It gets convoluted after that though. Looking forward to when you begin. 🙂
I just discovered you today through your first Wishmaster review, and you're excellent! I've seen a lot of your videos so far and you have a great style and perform good analysis on your subjects. Also, I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but if you lost weight, you would seriously be an extremely attractive individual. I lost weight recently myself, and it's a huge difference.
I don't understand why you're not more popular. I don't know where you stand on that guy with the glasses but you should get with that group, it's be a great signal booster for you.
Gotta respect/admire how you tough it out with these crappy horror films for our pleasure, Deusdaecon. Not to mention you're actually pretty damn awesome at what you do here, in terms of actual critiques. Thanks for that, m8.
Ah yes, if I had a nickel for all the times I've pretended I lost my phone so I could perform a "ritual to contact *blank*" with some girl I'm with I'd have...well...no nickels...
Deusdaecon, My brother and I always enjoyed the third film and I hope you enjoy it as well. But yes, the first film kind of sucks, not helped by my choice to eat dinner while watching the film.
A guy crawling around with a camera at foot-level would likely cause more comment in 1939 than a walking puppet. As for long and enduring, what you have to remember is that this is the brainchild of Charles Band, involves puppets like 90% of his company's other movies, and thus costs absolute spit all to make. So despite making nothing, it could potentially continue forever.
Well quite frankly Charles Band likes to think he's the brainchild but he neither wrote, Directed or had much of any creative input in this film/idea, He just slaps his name on the series and claims its his sole creation.
I don't doubt he can't write to save his life, it's all that puppeteering I expect. But where there are puppets and horror movies, there he is, badly choreographing them somewhere out of view.
I was looking for a review and got the full movie and those scenes must be longs since it didnt look like too mjch exciting things happen im watching it tonight still though and hopefully the rest of the series will be good.
A lot of people consider Puppet Master 3 to be the best film in the series. It takes forever for anything to happen in the first movie. Puppet Master 2 has more puppet death scenes and gives them more screen time. There's also a fan-made Puppet Master online game that allows you to play as either one of the puppets or a human in an online multiplayer mode.
