PUPPY TRAINING! Teaching Your DACHSHUND Puppy Their Name 

So amazing. I train my dogs with facial expressions, sign language (ASL), and words (phonetically). I found the ASL sign language for DOG is perfect for come. When saying NAME come, or Group come. Or panic voice come and sigh. Dogs have so many body languages I learned for pain, wanting to play, accepting of play movements with other dogs. Even vocal growls. Dogs if you look close will teach you what they say. Same, they like your body movements more than voices, but they love our voice. ASL NoNo one of the first signs, sit, lay down... they learn those signs alone with Working dogs are all good dog. Usually pets are good dogs, pets not to live a life with my pack, good boy, good girl. I use Name good dog, pack good dogs... to all.... NAME bad or correction command. Great teaching coaching.

I grew up with Dachshunds. I went off to College, got married, and bought our first home with out a dog. Once we got settled in we had the opportunity to bring a Dachshund into the home and my wife just couldn't understand how I was raising the dog. EVERY THING you talk about in this video is how I taught 'Spice' her name. It isn't so much a NAME as a DECLARATIVE before a COMMAND. Spice and I could take off down a hiking trail, once she was about 2 yo, and whether leashed or unleashed I could say "Spice, left" or "Spice, right" whenever we came to a fork in the path and she would follow without even making eye contact. Dachshunds are headstrong and there's only so much you can TRAIN a dog to do. Once instinct happens and you lose that command, then all bets are off. Spice and I went on many adventures and were, sadly, responsible for a what has become known as the Mercer County Stampede. We were on a long walk and found ourselves being followed by a small herd of cattle. We came to a barbed wire corner in the fence and the cattle, curious as they are, surrounded us. Spice, feeling cornered, barked once. I corrected but the damage was done...the cattle kinda lurched back a bit and Spice lurched forward a bit and, well, lather inse epeat and I was chasing a small dog who was chasing about 15 American cattle (thank gawd not the welsh cattle they had on site) across the property. A couple of destroyed wooden fences and a steel gate later I managed to wrangle Spice and the cattle settled down. I paid for all the damage, of course, but the park we were on, to this day, call that the Mercer County Stampede and use it in the dog\sheep trials interpretations.

Fritz, my dark brown Daschund was my 7:21 baby! I’m sorry to say he had me wrapped around his four paws! In-other words he trained me, and not the other way around around! There were many bowls of popcorn that we shared! He loved popcorn! I miss him so much!

Is this the same for a Dachshund Am Pit bull mix? We got our 10 week pup from a shelter.

If that's the case and the fog doesn't understand what a name means, then why when I say to him wanna go see Benji..... he goes to Benjis door? Or when I say wanna go see BB......he goes to BBs door and do on. He obviously associates the name with the other person or animal, right?

At what age is it appropriate to start this training? My grandparents have a litter and I am receiving the pup when it’s 8 weeks old (one more week to go). Is it possible to start now? Just from visiting, I am having difficulty getting the pups attention when his back it turned and cannot see me.

Do you recommend using a clicker for training?

Does it get harder with time? Mines about 1 years old and when i say his name, he responds but never really comes or does anything with it. Being single and working all day its hard to find time except for weekends to do any kind of training.

how do i spot my daxy to stop trying to bite every other dog before it even had a chance to sniff n say hello?

My dachshund is a mini whire haired, and he is an intact male. We have an intact female and when she is in heat we need to send him to my sister s house because he becomes very crazy and very aggressive. They are sweet dogs with the person it attaches to but it can be a very aggressive seething angry dog too.

I'm going to be getting 2 mini dachshund (sisters). They are still with Mum until February. How to I get them to know their names separately? They were born December 7 and I want to name them "Pearl" and "Harper." Hence Pearl Harbor Day.

It said that you should never use it name in a negative correction...Only in good praise like good dog Bob or Anna..Come Anna or Bob..But with no don't do that or Bad dog or boy or girl but no negative with name but use positive with name good boy Bob or Good girl Anna

I just got a dachshund he doesnt really listen and he gets in to everything and I understand that he is a puppy but he is already getting fat and im really concerned about he back i want him to be healthy I need help i wont worry so much if dachshunds didnt have have a back problems
