Pur water filters ( amzn.to/2ttsTvs ) are designed to last between one and three months depending on how much particulate is in your water. Here is a demo of just how painfully slow the water that goes through the water can get. It's rough! When it's this slow it's time to replace that filter, no matter how long it was used or if the light is still green.

So, I purchased a Pur filter twice, because I thought the first one was defected. So, I returned and purchased another one, it began to do the same thing, as the first! I only had it for possibly two weeks!! It began to leak and water began to come from the middle of the device. Not to mention the water from the filter side came out extremely slow! Just disgusted with this water filtration, and before it is asked, It was put on completely as directed!! Pur is cheap and faulty, unfortunately I could not take the second one back, because I threw the box away! I now have Brita!

Maybe the vertical option works better than the horizontal option. Idk I have a horizontal and it is slow as molasses on ice.

They came out with a new redesigned filter system that has a quick connect design to it probably about a year or so ago. Stays fast throughout the life of the filter. Instead of a vertical design it has more of a horizontal design. If you haven't already, I see your comment was two years ago, throw that older design out pick up the new one.

@@godisgoodatht i did buy a new one. I just got it. And its very slow. What i don’t understand is, on the first day of use, it has much more water flow, however just one day later its already barely flowing. I’ve spent too much to keep being disappointed. I also bought a britta, to see if it was any better, i couldnt believe it!! its even slower lol! I’ve had my faucet replaced as well, that didn’t help. I’m frustrated Edit…. but Thank you for the suggestion I appreciate your trying to help me!

The problem of slow water through the filter is an accumulation of particulate matter in the pre-screen. The filter creates its own back pressure and will slow down the flow regardless. But to resolve the "extra" back pressure, first remove the unit from the sink. As soon as you remove it there is a screen where it buts against the faucet. You will probably see particles of whatever partially clogging the screen. Clean that off and re-assemble. Hope that helps.

That's a good theory but I don't believe it's correct. For instance, if particulate was getting caught in the pre-screen how would it be clogging the filter (it's in the pre-screen)? Also, if stuff was caught in the pre-screen why would changing the filter cartridge cause the water flow rate to be restored? The pre-screen would still be clogged in that scenario.

1. I never said the prescreen was "clogging the filter", re-read my post, I said slow water "can be" because of this accumulation. This was the case with mine. 2. Changing the filter without cleaning the prescreen will not "always" take care of the problem if the flow rate is reduced on account of accumulation of grit on the prescreen. 3. This is not a theory as I proved this with my own device. "If" the prescreen has an accumulation of particulate matter over it, the "water FLOW" will be reduced.

One thing I notice my filter only started going slow when I moved to the country part of Deep East Texas. While in Houston it ran fine no issues. I used 2 brand new filters in 3 weeks because it was running real slow it would take about 4 days for the pitcher to drain, the water here does have a smell to it. Maybe the filter is working super hard meaning real bad water. So it still taste good the water I do get. Ijs I really dont know.

@@danskdna8550 Similar story here! Since I installed the unit, I've always had slow filtered water, assumed that was normal. Today, for no reason, water is coming out fast. It's not a new filter, we didn't change anything.

This has to be a quality control issue. Ours for years ran slow. When I changed the filter today, a fresh box, suddenly fast for the first time. Worried it was faulty, took another from the box to try, still fast. Strange.

I just did the same thing - worried that he water was not being forced through the filter, I opened a new filter and same thing. Have they changed the filter?

Same here. Since I installed it on the facuet, the filtered side has always come out slow. I assumed it was because, ya know, the water was going thru a filtering process. Now, all of a sudden, the filtered water is coming out blazing fast. I thought something broke inside but everything appears ok. I don't trust it now. I don't think the water is being filtered before coming out.

Google brought me here in my search for help. I was just putting a brand new filter in mine and it’s still running slow. I remember last time I switched the filter I was damn impressed with the speed difference. Any ideas how I can fix this? Am I fundamentally doing something wrong?

Mine is running really slow...Changed the filter like this video shows and nothing.. I soaked the unit in a white Vinegar and water solution to clean it and nothing. I cleaned the pre screen and nothing.. Completely useless

PUR in their quest to sell more filters redesigned the filter to become unusable in a vary shot time this is a ripoff, also their new pitchers are JUNK poor design and vary user unfriendly

Is this filter still working flawlessly for you? I keep reading so many reviews about leaking issues with this brand, not sure if I should buy one, but I like the price.
