The game looks pretty great already, I'm excited to see what the finished product will be like! The gameplay loop kind of reminds me of a strategy Roguelike version more fast-paced Risk of Rain (or rather a 2D version of RoR2, if that makes sense), was that an inspiration?
@@florians.1326 Thanks! yeah we had a bunch of inspiration for this, i have played pretty much all the "bigger" roguelikes/rouglites. So we have cherrypicked a bit here and there. "My friend pedro" was a big inspo for the combat, hades has great streamlining that we really liked. Hades, Isaac and risk of rain was a big inspiration for the upgrades but we still tried to add out own touch to it. Slay the spire was our inpiraton for the events and darkest dungeon has been some inspiration in theme even if we're also lovecraft and mike mignola(creator of hellboy) fans. We really focused on making it easy to feel cool while still being in control att all times, and had that as our center pillar throughout development. :)
I didn't expect to be this enthused with seeing just this small gameplay snippet. As a big lovecraftian horror fan I've seen how easy it is to be all "oooooh the monsters are the spookedy scaaaary, be afraid!" That a lot of horror media or games like to do and I'm glad to see that the devs decided to ask the question "what if doomguy fought eldritch horrors instead of demons" in the first unique take on the genre in years.
Killing Cthulhu with a flintlock pistol... dude has balls And I'm so sad that the main character isn't a mindflyer dual wielding guns, I thought for a second he was one 😔. Game is sick tho
I remember playing a very early demo for this game like 6 or 8 months ago on G. round and seeing how they moved forward i'd say the developers really learned a lot from that early testing, really happy to see this game going full blast wit the action!
I'm glad I misunderstood, then! Your comment community always seemed overall pretty positive and friendly, so I was shocked to mishear what I thought I heard! Thank you so much for putting out all the entertaining content!
This game looks incredible! Can’t wait to see more when it’s out. Also glad to hear you’re still enjoying voidigo, I picked it up a couple months ago and now I can’t stop playing it for the life of me. Would be really neat to see some more voidigo content when it comes out of early access too, apparently that’s supposed to happen this year. Also I 100% agree that lately there have just been some truly incredible roguelikes much like this one.
Whooo... I can't get to the first boss but I am NOT good at these games. I'll try the sword. [edit] Actually got further with the sword but I may need to grind the vortex currency for upgrades
this isn't relevant to this video but it's like lowkey baffling how many different kinds of roguelikes exist. every day you throw up a new video with some new spin on the genre i had no idea existed, how do you *find* them all??
