how i see them and their voices :) colet - pop, balladeer sheena - versatile pop maloi - sultry balladeer, pop aiah - rnb, lullaby, acoustic stacey - rnb, pop, hiphop gwen - balladeer, chorale, pop mikha - rnb, hiphop, acoustic jhoanna - balladeer, theatrical this is why i think is a good mix of each of their uniqueness. they all have a distinct voice qualities. and it's incredible how they mesh or blend well together. and just to add, i admire how they aren't afraid to show their imperfections. not all artists can do that comfortably.
My opinion on each Bini voices (and ranking): 1. Colet - the most consistent most pitch accurate of the group. Leads them in harmonies and the breath control in live performances is so good as well. Often times, she's the cleanest during their lives even when they're dancing. 2.Maloi - my bias! the best belter of the group. Colet cannot reach those belts as good as Maloi, but because of that, Maloi's parts are often riskier and prone to flats/sharps. She's slaying it tho. 3. Gwen - Lowkey great singer. Her personality makes her not standout but her vocals are clean and consistent. Great high notes and low notes as well. She also does the adlibs well and she is also great with high harmonies. Very solid singer and very important to their lives. 4. Jhoanna - I apologize to the holy trinity believers because Im putting her at 4. Jhoanna is great. Her tone is great. Her range is great. She is the "voice" of Bini. But she is a wild cannon. She often overshoots because of the power of her belts. And on relatively low notes, she often fluctuates because she is kore comfortable on the high notes. During "live" performances such as Wish Bus where there are some post processing (sorry but it is not truly live), her parts are often more heavily pitch corrected compared to the others. I value consistency in this ranking. She is great and amazing when she hits tho. 4 is still a high ranking. 5. Mikha - The most important voice in Bini. She provides the needed uniqueness in their sound with that oh so great timbre and tone. Very cool. Very sexy. Very great with low notes and very awesome with the raps. She can hit high notes too with songs like Lagi. She is very prone to flats however because of the nature of her voice. Often during lives, her unique timbre makes her almost half a semitone flat. Even so, very iconic voice and her parts are often my favorite parts of their songs. 6. Sheena - Goddess voice here. Very smooth very pretty voice. She also does harmonies well. However her pronounciation and nasal tone sometimes makes the sound weird and off to me. And generally she doesnt stand out that much compared to the rest. 7. Stacey - She is a great opener for Bini. Her low notes are very commendable as well, and her raps are great but I think Mikha is slightly better and sounds cooler. She also often when singing casually, go off key, which, professional singers often default to sticking to their key, even when casually singing, and its very difficult for them to intentionally go off key (ps. Off key and off pitch is different). 8. Aiah - The weakest singer for Bini in my opinion but the second most important voice after Mikha. Singing live, she is often flat or she tends to fluctuate within the right note. But her voice is very iconic in their sounds and, like Mikha, provides a variation and unique sound to their songs with her airy and soft voice. But I think because her voice is airy, she has difficulty with breath control and makes her note control more difficult. She is good with her harmonies tho, and if she continues to improve her breathing and holding her notes well, she could easily rank higher in my list. Im ending this by saying I am a bloom but I am just being honest here. Let's not put them in a invincible pedestal because they are not perfect. But what makes me a fan is that they are definitely way better than other groups out there (even international groups) and they are very genuine, they are not afraid to go live and expose their flaws. Overall amazing group and they are so much better when singing together. The sum is better than its parts as they say. I love this group and every member (ps. Aiah is my bias wrecker even though she is at the bottom of this list)
OPM has deep roots, making it both familiar to international music styles while maintaining a unique flavor and distinction that sets it apart from the global mainstream. If you dive deeper, you'll be surprised by what OPM has to offer.
26:55 that practice room is also their actual house/dorm before a.k.a The Iconic "Ubay/Bini House" before they all move out and live seperately rn. And yes, they all have their own allotted time before to go livestream individually and its Jho who organizes their schedules for their Kumu lives.
"When I met You" sang by Staku is an OPM song by Apo Hiking Society in full english lyrics. APO Hiking Society got their name from the highest mountain peak in the Philippines located at Mindanao. APO is a trio group who started back in the 70's and considered one of the legends of OPM.
34:50 This actually caught me by surprise, Mikha is singing a chavacano song, which is a spanish creole language from Zamboanga City in Mindanao. i never knew Mikha sang a chavacano song nor did i ever though she would even know of one....I dont know the song myself but i instantly recognized the language because i'm from Zamboanga myself. This was such a pleasant surprise, this instantly made me like her even more haha.

The seashell get up of the girls are from their Previous intimate mini concert in LA UNION last May where the girls have their own solo prod and its all opm ❤
Yes, OPM is very rich of good songs that you must discover 😊. Some OPM has full English lyrics aside from the usual Tagalog. Actually one of the songs Stacey sang (the one you said that has a catchy melody) is Bisaya Pop / Visayan Pop - a subset of OPM that is written in Bisaya language. The title of that song is "Balay ni Mayang" 😊 Mikha too sang another language which is Chavacano - a Spanish creole language mostly spoken in Zamboanga City in Mindanao, Philippines (that is why you recognized Corazon which means heart 😅). The title of that song is "Porque" and it has 2 versions - a full Chavacano version and a mix of Tagalog and Chavacano version 😊
There are so many filipino singers that you can listen to, because on social media many people from other countries are discovering how good Filipinos are at singing...🥰
Bro these songs are really good classic Filipino songs,.but hearing these songs being sang by Bini is just so mesmerizing,. I am into heavy stuff since birth,.(trash metal in particular,.) but since I discovered Bini's music..they changed everything, I listen to them a lot.. I love them to the moon & back,. more power to you Bro thanks for apreciating Bini & enjoy PH🇵🇭,.(miss home so much) #BINI #LezGoh😊🤙
I love our very own OPM 🙌🙌❤ 17:21 It's an OPM song by Apo hiking society one of my favorite song 15:24 These songs are probably one the most popular OPM Song, some of this songs is really old but it's still being appreciate by us filipinos ❤
Stacey's second song is Kasing Kasing by Juan Karlos, another OPM artist to watch out for. The song is also sang in Bisaya, which makes it super interesting because some Filipinos dont speak the language so many of us are experiencing the songs the same way a non-Filipino would. I think this is another unique thing that will differentiate P-pop from Kpop in that the Philippines is not a homogenous society at all with at least 200 languages with at least 4 or 5 of them being dominant (Tagalog, Cebuano [aka Bisaya], Illongo [related to Cebuano and sometimes aka Bisaya], Ilokano, Bicolano to name a few) and they and many are not mutually intelligible with each other. Sometimes Filipinos even mistakenly call them dialects when in fact they are bonafide languages the same way you would call French, Italian, Spanish and Portoguese as langauges, not dialects.
27:05 I don't know the exact time they're allotted but I think it's like 45-60 minutes each, sometimes longer, and it's all scheduled by Jho herself. They'll go live individually once a week, and only 2 would go live at most in a day based on their age (so the first 2 to go live for the week is Aiah and Colet, then the next day is Maloi and Gwen, and so on). But they can talk to each other tho if they want to switch live schedules with one another (most of their lives are night/late night lives bc it's their rest times, but there are rare occasions that they do go live during the morning, or at least earlier than lunch)
6:22 Paubaya - Moira Dela Torre Note: The actors in the MV are a famous real life couple/love team. They broke up and had only seen each other again when filming the said MV. (And please take note that every dialogue they have in the MV are ALL NOT SCRIPTED, it's like their closure but in an MV) 12:31 Huling El Bimbo - Eraserheads 17:12 When I met you - Apo Hiking Society 25:29 Oo - Up Dharma Down 31:39 Hanggang kailan - Orange and Lemons 32:09 Kahit ayaw mo na - This Band 35:32 Porque - Maldita 35:48 Tadhana - Up Dharma Down 38:28 Gusto ko nang bumitaw - Morissette Amon
You sure wanna know the original singer of the song Master Jho sang at 38:21? Singer is Morissette Amon. Once you listen to her, you will go deep in this OPM rabbit hole. Tittle of the song is Gusto ko ng bumitaw. Check the live Wishbus performance.
They all have different vocal flavors. And I love all of it! But of all the songs here, I think my favorite is Mikha’s cover of Porque and everything that Jhoanna sang.
Kuya Pierre, you can deep dive OPM. The one Aiah sang is TILA TALA by SYD HARTHA. Syd is the daughter of Eraserheads guitarist Marcus Adoro. Aiah also sang ANG HULING EL BIMBO by Eraserheads. Stacey sang WHEN I MET YOU by APO HIKING SOCIETY. Mikha sang HANGGANG KAILAN by ORANGE & LEMONS. Maloi sang OO by UP DHARMA DOWN. Jhoanna sang GUSTO KO NANG BUMITAW by MORISSETTE.
for me Philippines is best known for their ballads and band songs and even the underground hip-hop genre. the pop genre specially the idol songs here is just starting to make shape and become popular due to k-pop. So, please support our girls and other p-pop groups to make them known internationally.
16:49 APO Hiking Society's WHEN I MET YOU. Composed by Jim Paredes of APO and arranged by, the one and only, Ryan Cayabyab (composer of Da Coconut Nut, Paraiso, Kailan, among others. Main vocals by Danny Javier (RIP). Danny Javier is one of the most underrated male singers of all time. APO HIKING is the og opm pop group.
The title of the song that Aiah sang is Ang Huling El Bimbo by The Eraserheads. And Gwen also sang With A Smile by The Eraserheads. They are called "The Beatles of the Philippines" for some reason😅 You can check out some of their songs💯
Paubaya version of Colet hits different yes the melody is very good it's like disney but when you understand the lyrics that's ...... for you to discover 😂😂
I think it is best if you make a reaction video of all the songs that you are asking the title in this compilation and make a compilation too. Way to go on OPM song's Kuya Pierre, we all know you will like it. And always a great video reaction on BINI.
Actually, only few of the songs that BINI have covered are very popular. There are actually hundreds of very beautiful Filipino songs back in 90's and also singers had truly amazing voices.
6:30 That's Paubaya by Moira Dela Torre. It's one of the best songs of this generation. Pretty sad song, but beautiful lyrics. 12:30 That's "Ang Huling El Bimbo" by The Eraserheads, one of the legendary OPM bands of the 90s
