"Imagine a world where time drifts slowly, a world where music carries you away.....relax with timeless music from THE EXORCIST.....and....THE X-FILES...." 🤣
"Direct from Europe." It makes me imagine some sort of institute in Helsinki where scientists with clipboards observe people listening to Enigma and Mike Oldfield. Down the hall, a group of Benedictine monks were laying down tracks.
I always pictured some yuppie Parisian in their loft apartment, or some bookish looking middle class Berliner in their 30s listening to this. The 'direct from Europe' always struck me as "Not from those uncouth American swine, this is what learned and intellectual people listen to!"
Anyone under the age of 25 would NOT know the trauma that is hearing the Aiiiiooooiiii Guy at 2 am upon sneaking down to watch tv even though you're meant to be in bed. 😂
between that, the damned halloween theme and HAI YA HAIIIII NYA HAIIII NYA HAIIIII, I do not know how i resisted begging my mom to buy this for me in the says of my youth when this was playing on tv
Remember seeing this endlessly on TV all the time. Makes me miss the 90s so bad, someone please make a time travel machine so it can be that amazing decade all over again.
I wish that were possible because I miss that decade too, but it isn't. Time only moves forwards, not backwards. So, we're stuck living in the current times. But, there is a way to sort of go back in our minds through the media and stuff from back then (especially since the internet has made that possible). Update: I just recently bought this CD, and it's just as awesome as this commercial made it sound and it made me feel so nostalgic that it gave me goosebumps. Especially Track # 11, The Main Title Theme from The Last Emperor which sparked my love for Chinese music. I'm also pretty sure tracks #4 ("Oxygene Part 4") and #6 ("Tubular Bells Part 1") were heard on computer animation tapes I watched constantly when I was little, although I can't remember exactly which ones. But, I've always wanted the soundtracks to some of those animations.
I definitely remember this commercial and don't forget The B.E.T commercial gospel CD from back in the day "rough side of the mountain" and R&B soul records CD "no my brother you got to get your own" (House Party movie) LOL I know yall remember that commercial
As I said to myself, "It's been 23 years," I suddenly felt like old Rose from the movie, Titanic. "It's been 84 years." 🤣 I literally haven't seen this commercial in 23 years and somehow I have a ton of nostalgia invested into a CD that I never even owned.
i begged and BEGGED for this fucking cd at the age of 10 and i still have it to this day somewhere. tubular bells used to scare the absolute SHIT out of me though i remember the fear in having to run and change it before it came on.
I did the same thing. My mom got it for me and holy crap, I wouldn't see the exorcist for another 2 years but it subtly altered my appreciation for the song
SAME! This CD was one of the most treasures possessions. Return To Innocence is still one of my all time favorite lifetime songs, but I always HATED tubular bells, and it seems like it’s a popular consensus on here lol
Anyone else remember laying in bed at like 2a.m as a kid and watching this infomercial over and over because you were too lazy to get up and find the remote lol?
This used to be on Cartoon Network alot. I would rock out to the X-Files remix for about five seconds every time. Whoever put this commercial together did a good job making the songs seem mysterious and otherwordly. To a seven-year-old kid, at least.
I literally was having the most intense nostalgia about the song Sail Away by Enya and instantly thought about the 1st place I heard the song and it was this very commercial. I thought I would randomly search for the commercial on RU-vid and low and behold... Here the Authentic, Original commercial! I'm experiencing all of the feels right now!!! I absolutely am thankful to whoever found this and posted it! It just proves that no matter the topic or subject, someone else out there feels you! ❤️
Funny.. i specifically remember my wake up commercial i always woke up to back 2001.. that new york life... the company.. you keep.. the music in those were radiance.. aah the nostalgia
I remember when my math teacher played this during class and I immediately recognized it and said "That's Pure Moods, isn't it?" my teacher was like ".....Are you a wizard? o.O"
@@Ijustinsultedyou Pure moods was released in 1994. My uncle ordered it a few years later. I MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE 12 Years old. like 1997 . i was about 12 or 13
Sheels1976 You're old! just kidding, you look young to be born in 1976. I'm an 80's baby I was only a kid in the 90's I remember this use to come on when my Grandmother was watching Oprah. lol I miss the 80's and 90's. The world will never go back to the good ol times.
Oh man...I remember seeing this play a thousand times in the afternoon in the 90's during Nickelodeon commercial breaks! Takes me back to sitting on the floor in my parent's living room waiting for Eureka's Castle or David The Gnome to come back on.
I thought I was the only one who bought that CD! Pure Moods was a fore-runner that started off the whole Chillout Genre which exploded at the turn of the millennium.
Well, sota. chill out/ambient/trip hop/acid jazz etc. came from a lot of the euro clubs in the late 80s early 90s from artists like Air, KLF, The Orb, Aphex Twin ... but you could really go back to the 70s with Brian Eno and Kraftwerk. Here in the States on the East Coast there were chill out/ambient events in the mid to late 90s (Cloudwatch and a few others) as well as whole rooms of festivals and raves devoted to the genre back then. Pure Moods was a collection of more commercial songs used in movie soundtracks and TV shows (The Exorcist, X-Files, Miami Vice), kind of like what Dance Music USA would be to techno/house/trance.
Holy damn that takes me back... Literally my Return to Innocence.. Also, is it bad that I remember these commercials so vividly only being 6 at the time? I was just so entranced with the music and my mom did the coolest shit a parent can do in the 90s, get something for their child from an infomercial. Longest 10 weeks ever. She got me that as a present as well as a Selena casette (every little girl in Texas loved Bidi Bidi Bom Bom) Even though my life was complete shit and I suffered some abuse I always had something to make me happy even if it was just a song. I guess I can definitely take a lesson from my younger self
0:36 I've remembered this shot for almost 30 years and I am happy to have located the commercial for it! Memories activated. Happier times of childhood.
I remember seeing this on nickelodeon all the time, then i guess my dad saw the ad too and he actually bought it. We listened to it all the time when we went on family outings. When my folks split up i ended up keeping the CD and recently found it hidden away in an old CD case, so I put it in my car and now I blast "Crockett's Theme" every trip to the grocery store hahahaha
I desperately wanted my parents to order this CD for me when I was a kid. In adulthood, I bought it for myself and it was worth the wait. Lots of really interesting, haunting 80s/90s new age synth music on here.
Ah the 90's. The last 10 years before the end of the world. When 2000 hit, all life took a 90 degree nose dive. There's always the memories which this commercial flooded back in like an ocean. I'm so happy I grew up in the 90's even if i was 3 when 1990 hit. I can't imagine being born in 2000 and growing up now. Sad fucks from 2000 on don't even know how to write in cursive. I believe that alone makes me superior to all the generations after me that can't so that. It should be the default writing style of the world. either way, i can always bring it all back with commercials like this, and the actual songs themselves.
The nostalgia hitting so hard like a sledgehammer to the chest. The 90s style commercial, and even moreso, the music. So many that I love, but Adiemus is the one I am focused on right now. I could never look up these songs without knowing the names before, since most of the lyrics aren't seemingly real english words. I googled "90s tribal flow music", as that is the best way I can think of describing how to find the song, and then this commercial came up. My dad must of had the CD when I was growing up. Pure Moods, I remember now. This type of music is so painfully unique and specific to the 90s.
I remember this commercial. In fact once I started watching it it's like I knew what each song was gonna be. Damn this must be like 1996-97 maybe?? Man how time flies..
I remember this commercial as a 12 year old, I always wanted it....30 years later this past Sunday I finally bought it at a pawn shop for .50 cents. I didn't realize that this was the cd from the commercial I saw as a kid,I just bought because of return to innocence, and now after seeing this commercial I'm remembering how great it was growing up in the 90's.
This commercial should be taught in all marketing classes because it has become engrained in the experiences of an entire generation no matter if you owned it or not.
This felt like some fevor dream from my childhood lol. Somewhere etched into my brain was a vague memory of some cd complication commercial that showed a picture of the pyramid with very new age-y ethereal music that would get stuck in my head but never had any way to look it up. I'm so glad i stumbled across this to finally know !!
This commercial literally sent me back to that safe feeling you had as a child eating cereal for breakfast on a Saturday morning while watching The Flintstones on tv...
Laying on the couch after watching Trading Places for the millionth time on TBS. It’s 1 AM, it’s the late 90s, & this damn commercial hits while you’re fighting sleep. What a time to be alive 😂
i saw this commercial SO MANY TIMES growing up in the 90s. I'm glad im not the only one! Usually late at night when star trek TNG aired....and after school, during saved by the bell and the fresh prince....and family matters lol. Oh i miss the 90s
HOLY CRAP!! I just recalled ever last moment of my childhood from seeing this and hearing snippets of those songs. Thank you so much for uploading this!
Omg the memories this commercial brings back, being a teenager in the 90s. I love reading the comments, other peoples memories, nostalgia, and what it means to them. ❤
I remember when I first saw this commercial after it was over I wanted to get it. Then my mom saw this commercial and she really liked the music and also wanted to get the album. We both tried to get my dad to get us Pure Moods, all he kept saying was "we'll see". Then a couple of years later, I actually found a copy of Pure Moods at Walmart and of course I bought it and still have it to this day and I still love to listen to it.
My, how times have changed... Back in the day you had to call in if you wanted to order a CD. Wait a few weeks for it to arrive in the mail, all the while hoping it did not get damaged or lost in shipping. Now you can digitally download the entire album (legally or illegally) and have it right away.
+Jack Harkness Yeah, amazing, isn't it? Back then, you had to order it and wait for it to arrive. Now, just a few minutes ago, I downloaded all the songs..just like that. I remember seeing this commercial and actually bought the cassette...yes, cassette..in the late 90's.Amazing how in a few short years life has changed so much.
+raydeen1 My apologies. Though I'm surprised that record companies don't still advertise like this but give you the option of ordering a CD or digitally downloading it.
Glad in some way most of us in some way share this obscure commercial as a solid childhood memory . Given its 1994 to 1997 release I'd be 4+ years old. I still remember having dreams about that unicorn. They aren't kidding, this is a pure mood
My aunt bought this CD and i remember being at her waterfront home the day she ordered it and for years after that when I’d spend the summers with her this was always playing. By 2007 I showed her how to get all this music on iTunes and through her Mac and it still played all the time in the form of a playlist 🤣
I was a teenager when Pure Moods came out. The first time I saw the commercial and heard the music, I was like "that is some of the nicest music I've ever heard". My mother heard it also and also liked it. We kept saying we were gonna order it but not never got around to it, than about a year later I found a cd copy of Pure Moods for sale at walmart and of course I bought it and I still have it today and it still works great and that was well over 12 years ago when I bought it.
Nickelodeon was what introduced Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B, da fuq are you talking about? Remember, Rugrat Rap, the All That theme song was from R&B group TLC, Kenan & Kel theme song was Hip-Hop styled, need I continue?
Man i remember seeing this all the time as a kid. I always thought the girl is the Sadness song looked like a princess that was hidden away somewhere in the videogame Myst or Riven lol
