Not to metion it makes it go up 0.7 according to gaijin they really are sacrificing old german players for the sake of new players pursuing nations other than german
Well AP rounds generally have a penetrator in the core of the projectile.. just a sabot that sheds its fat when it hits the target rather than when it leaves the barrel.. so really the function on target is the same so long as the velocity/energy on impact is.. It could also just be Gaijin
The Marder is one of the few vehicles in the game where in my opinion the BR is almost irrelevant because of how limited use it is altogether. I can see this thing basically perform the same against T-34s and KV-1s at 4.7 as against T62s or even T-64s.
To be fair the Marder can do more than most tanks or even SPAA can It can shoot both air and ground targets and has a lot of auto cannon ammo and unlike most SPAA with similar AA performance, the Marder can frontally be most things at it's BR because of ATGM'S Also yes I know the Marder is a IFV not a SPAA
@@pipopoikapelaa5468yeah but having to fully stop and have a long missile travel time makes it irrelevant at it's br. Even if you spot the enemy first, by the time you stopped and stabilized and even have a chance to launch the atgm, people with stabilized cannons would have the time to obliterate you. And since the atgm somehow doesn't continue on its course afterwards it's not even a trade kill
Do u want to know what's pain? I can't get a single kill in my 7m3 German lineup without getting sniped, can't play a single downtier and get 30k repair each battle, from 200k to 20k
Well, the Marder was never intended to be used in such an agressive way - like WT demand to be. But i cant remeber that 50cals does more damage to a bmp than the 20mm on the Marder in real life. I guess its not working a intended. On the shooting range this thing seemed to be way more effective.
wtf was going on with that bmp1, the thickest plate on a bmp1 is like 30mm irl. the 20mm on the marder should make mincemeat out of it, heck the bmp1 is so poorly armoured that irl american 40mm hedp rifle grenades are even a suitable choice to take one out…
I actually love playing with the Marder, never played with the 1A3 but i recently unlocked the Marder A1- and i'm loving it, i prefer playing with light tanks so that is probably why i insist playing with it instead of using something more effective(I personally Don't think there's something effective until rank 6), instead i just stay behind a hill and wait for someone to expose themselves and voosh there goes the ATGM, so fun.
With a gimmicky gun and nerfed atgm this one will be in hell. Can’t go down because of thermals. Still going to play it tho. And curse like a sailor. :)
Wait... then it's at 8.0 cuz of thermals? What are they gonna do, make you see your death in black and white???? Edit: i already have NO PROBLEM scouting tanks from 3km while behind cover by only noticing their exhaust i see no point Im just complaining about the game's logic not spreading hate to players
@@combatantezoteric2965 Like the M48 at 7.0 right? When it's the same as the 7.3 American. Or the Marder being 7.3 the same as the garbage Ratel? Or the Wirbelwind being 3.7 the same as the crusader AA with twice the guns and 20mm more pen?
@@kpack1993 I should have specified that this is how mid-high BR is. until 7.0-7.3where noobs play then yes germany has some things at too low br. marder A1 is fine at 7.3 what do you mean, the ratel is crap cuz of horrible armor but it has like 6 or 8 atgms against 4 on the marder. AAs are another business. some nations have crap AAs other have them good. They are placed such that at least every rank will have a decent AA. if the wirbel would be higher then there ( with the exception of the sd.kfz 251 which is very new in the game ) that there would be no decent spaa for germany at BR3.7-5.3.
it has higher br, because apds, more sheet metal armor, and thermals uh yeah, dont forget that 1A3 has better radio irl and i dont know why this thing even exist with 8.0 br, its not that different from A1-
One thing i constantly say is: the marder A1 and A3 are *support* tanks, you CANNOT fight on your own you're meant to rely on teammates The 20MM cannon has APDS which is a ln upgrade to the marder A1 it can decently take out helis and light tanks and that already fulfills its role but if you want to use it beyond that you can shoot the tracks and maybe the gun barrel while ATGM is reloading, and for the ATGM you have to AIM THAT DAMNED THING ITS NOT A STURMTIGER ROCKET you need to aim where it will go otherwise you'll hit a track or loader only and for the number of ATGMs yes they're pretty low but as i said you're a support vehicle that means by the time you run out of missiles your *supposedly* capped an objective so that you would rush to that cap and reload, try to scoutq whenever you can snd obviously its a light tank its vulnerable to absolutely anything and thats why i advice you to not rush on your own you can't fight alone and you gotta be real careful with it
Such strategic and high IQ Multitasking Gameplay. I’m sure many people would rank Odd as a Top Player. It takes time, skill and knowledge to copy his play style
The Marder honestly serves as an excellent SPAA. Once I spade my Kugel, it'll replace it. It has frankly better AA capabilities and it can kill tanks fairly reliably, if you can get the ATGM on target. The Kugel at 6.7 is nice but doesn't have the greatest AP round and falls very short in comparison to say, the Wirbel, or maybe even the Ostwind. Though it's better at AA than either ostwind and maybe falls a touch short to the Wirbel in AA. However, the Marder serves as a great bridge between the Kugel at 6.7, and the Gepard at 8.0.
I really don't know why people like wirbelwind for AA so much. It makes short work of any aircraft that flies near you, but the range is really lackluster even for its rank. If the enemy keeps modest distance between you and him, there is nothing you can do. Ostwind II doesn't need to reload, has substantially better range, and the amount of fire it puts out with the 2 barrels is good enough. It's in a sweet spot between the 20mm AAs and ones equipped with 40mm Bofors.
@@H3nry2077 No, it does not. The best AA belt on WW has muzzle velocity of 900m/s with projectile mass of 0.12kg and ~10g TNT eq., Ostwind has 914m/s (M.Gr.18) with projectile mass of 0.55kg and ~100g TNT eq., and of course the heavier 37mm projectile keeps its speed a lot better. The higher velocity of WW's AP belt does compensate for the low projectile mass somewhat, but it doesn't reliably cause any serious damage, because it's an AP belt, not an AA belt.
The removal of the motion sensor MG is due to real life - upon deploying troops, the motion sensor would pick up the motion and start shooting them, and the gunner would have to turn it off, in high stress situations, people make mistakes and forget things so thats why there is no back MG on the A3 version
dammit, i was 99% done researching Begleitpanzer 57, now this one was added before that meaning i have to waste a lot of time researching 1A3 in order to play it
Yea fulda is banned and Vietnam and maginot are insta quits. Playing giant ass maps with slow vehicles against nations like germany with long 88s and 75s is not fun. Or 7.3 range where you get yeeted by an atgm from across the map and can do nothing about it especially US is just horrid gameplay.
Very cool jet dog fight bawz! I almost have my first jet unlocked, I'm excited to give it a go. Setting aside the audio problems, what do you think of the new machine gun and cannon sound effects? Get well soon! and keep up the great content 👍
Shy instead of uptiers or downtiers going full 1.0 br up or down, not make it so it only gets to the next highest or lowest br for example: bro 3.74.3 it would help balance out the ranks against each other in the sense of fire power armour and mobility by not leaving much of a slider
@@erick2k492 I got told to "just aim for ammo otherwise l2p issue" Yet I'm lucky if the enemy's ammo even goes orange lmao. And with the speed nerf of Milan it's easy for them to just back up and mg you.
To be real, my opinion hasn't changed about the Marder, even though this gets APDS belt which is supposed to be better it is still shit and the missile is slower than death. This tank only performs good against light tanks and maybe some medium ones but over all it's a big pass. Make a video on the Vickers Mk.3, that's actually a geat tank!
is the shakelton worth it? or the bombers to grind? i now have my first rank 3 plane at britain but i have to have the shakelton somehow because it is so cute. but is it worth the effort? i would have to grind the bombers from rank 1
It really depends if you want it. I think it’s alright. It has a good bomb load, and good defensive armament. So if you want to grind it then be my guest.
@@stanky-_-bird8048 i'm just afraid the repair costs will kill me. i'm happy when i can afford something but hey, i'd go bankrupt for such a sweet plane too xD
@@maxflug8008 I'm alright with the puma having normal ATGMs if they did add it, I just want to see it sooner rather than later cause the models been in the game files for a few years
@@OddBawZ im assuming milans got nerfed cause of 7.3 performance no. The 7.3 marder is incredibly broken especially hull down on a cap . Not to mention the fact that it rips all US lights and every nations cas easily with its auto cannon. Its better AA than 90% of US and Russia spaa lines.
@@OddBawZ the ratel does at 7.3 as well right. Past that idk what else has it. But knowing gajin with statistics the nerf definitely happened cause of the marder at 7.3 and instead of just uptiering it they blanket nerf all of the carriers of the milans. Eh better for me trying to spade 7.0 to 8.0 US.
This being 8.0 and the Begleitpanzer 57 being at 8.3, there's really no reason to use it. The difference in capability between those vehicles (both on Marder chassis) alone should make it clear that the BR classifications at higher tiers are just borked. 0.3 difference, but the Bagel has far superior and more reliable weaponry. I'm glad the Marder family is finally getting more vehicles, but Gaijin needs to finally figure out the BR system. It's getting weirder with each new addition.
I love your vids, Odd, but if you could make an adjustment for me: your videos start off louder than anything else I watch on RU-vid. My poor ears, Odd. Please just a little volume adjustment. Thanks for all you do.
I have to say the Marder A3 is a bit better, here’s why. 1- you get gen 1 thermals, better for scouting. 2- you get literally double the frontal armor. 3- you have lees exposed turret and ammunition.
it seems that 2 missiles can easily swappable on marder atgm mount, and the pic from wikipedia clearly shows the atgm launched from 1A3 has penetrator (kinda) in front of it, so i hope gaijin fix it
comparing this to the bmp2m is not really a fair comparison as they are 0.7 appart and the 2m face almost exclusively tanks with full stabilisation and 25°/s targetting speed, while this will face T-54 half of the time and an RCV wouldn't have survived the encounter with the IS3 you had early that's for sure, the marder have a missile that allow him to deal with the top armored tanks wich the RCV have to pray a team mate comes to kill, also the marder don't die to 12.7 which is a big thing especially now that 12.7 rotation have been greatly buffed
All rockets got a nerf. Nothing flies correctly, even RP-3s, HVARs, and especially SNEBs no longer fly properly. Try firing the SNEBs from the French Corsair while having any rudder input in. Your rockets no longer follow the aiming reticle, they go at strange angles and are extremely hard to aim.
Politely requesting a Fw 190 F-8 video, probably in 5.3 lineup - has 1000kg bomb - 3 bomb drops - fighter, but is designated as a ground attacker, so you can bring it and a 109 at low sp cost - high speed anti-pancakeing flaps - very little compression at high speeds - 50kg bombs are small but easy to drop with high precision and therefore still deadly - a lot smaller and nimbler target than a 410 or a 335 = harder to spot and hit for enemy AAs and planes
98K!!! Almost there!!! Have you thought what to do when you hit 100K?? Colin Furze style and go all out with fireworks LOL. can't wait to see you get your plaque! :)
Day 79: Play the AR-2 with three 500kg bombs in Ground RB with BT-5, SU-122, ZIS-30 and Chaika... or play it at a higher BR... hang in there everybody!
how do people induce flatspin on themself on mouse control? I never ever accidentally put myself on flatspin on mouse control, I don't even know how. Edit: and this tank bad, map bad, proceed to decimate enemies.
The thing with the Marder is that everything about it is just 'meh'. The 20mm, the rockets, the armor, the mobility.. It's not just one thing that's holding it back. I think it should get the Milan 2 rockets, it deserves that.
@@Notreallysureactually the apds only gives 9mm more pen, it is slightly slower and has a bit more armour to protect against machine guns. The thermals are the only good upgrade
@@Charlietolemy The bigger change with the APDS is that its angled pen has almost doubled. It’s much more capable of penning light vehicles like BMPs now.
@@rafaelborges5773 Was fun af. Very agile and tough tank. A troop of 6 ppl in the back armed with ARs, MG, AT rocket, grenade launcher and even with the MILAN mobile launch system if needed. The "door" in the back of the tank could open quite quickly and let them out. Mainly we were in coop with MBTs like the Leo 2A5 or A6 in quick reaction or defending operations. And the comfort way the driver is sitting in there in this game......well let's say it wasn't that chilled lol.
@@vicarpadaka The lateral and elevation straightening of the main and secondary weapons is carried out by an electro-hydraulic straightening system or, in emergency operation, mechanically by hand. They allow a lateral alignment range of 360 degrees and an elevation alignment range of -17.5 degrees to +65 degrees. The aiming speed of the 3.2-ton turret is four seconds for 180° in normal operation. The main weapon can be used against unarmoured targets up to a distance of 2000 metres. Explosive incendiary ammunition (HEI) is used. Against lightly armoured targets below 1000 metres, sabot ammunition (APDS) is used. Use against heavily armoured targets is possible under good conditions at less than 600 metres. When fighting a battle tank, blinding with HEI is possible to enable the use of the MILAN and the armoured infantry. Firing with armour-piercing ammunition is unsuccessful. Against aerial targets, the effective range is limited and use is then only against directly attacking aerial targets. The maximum combat range is up to 2000 metres for helicopters and up to 1200 metres for jet aircraft. The maximum firing range of the main weapon is 6,000 to 11,000 metres regardless of the combat distances. The armor was made to resist 20mm and even some 30mm fire from the front. The penetration performance of APDS ammunition is 44 mm 30° (RHA) at 1000 m and Penetration performance of API-T ammunition 40 mm 30° NATO plate at 200 m. We didn't use mixed belts and you could switch between the ammo in no time. With a double belt feed (Doppelgurtzuführer or DGZ), such as in the Marder ifv, it is possible for the gunner to choose between two different types of ammunition at the push of a button. If the type of ammunition is changed, the DGZ slides to the next position on a rail and passes the ammunition to the breech. Usually, one belt is used with an armour-piercing ammunition and one with an explosive ammunition.
