Purisai Therukoothu Festival | புரிசை தெருக்கூத்து திருவிழா 

This is a documentary of the yearly 'கூத்து' festival held in a village called Purisai, few kilometers from Vandavasi in Tamizh Nadu.
'Therukoothu' artists from different parts of the state come together at Purisai and celebrate this incredible art-form which is very close to their heart (more like a heart-form, eh?)
They feel that the 'Koothu' has given them their livelihood, to say the least & a whole new meaning to their being, which is still not saying the most.
This festival is an effort to keep the vivid dance form of the old-timers alive & kicking for as long as they can. Maybe throw it at the face of the young'uns and hope that perhaps, just perhaps.... the color sticks.
