I remember when I was around nine or 10 we were in a store that had a counter that had all this beautiful costume jewelry. That was my favorite counter because I always wanted a ring. I didn’t have any money to buy it and my parents already said they were not going to buy anything for the kids while we were in the store. So I kept walking around the corner admiring all the jewelry and the more I did that the more I wanted that one ring. So I took it and hid it. I couldn’t wait to get home so I could wear it. The problem was I couldn’t enjoy it. I was experiencing quilt and shame. I never told my parents nor did I take the ring back. I threw the ring away. I came to understand what this experience was all about after I became a Christian and read Genesis. My desire is to desire God more than I desire the trinkets that the world offers. It’s still a battle and the Lord is faithful and will get me home.

YeHoVaH shalom my main study is basically Torah. But I also get great inspiration and insight from the old Puritans writing. And on reading from these find preachers of the word of Elohim. These men and their times that they lived in are now gone. But we have their writings that survive them for us to enjoy Shalom to you.

Heart in every place of the Bible means not a organ beating in our chest, but our inner being, who we are in the inside that only El Shaddai our Elohim knows

2 Timothy chapter 3 comes to mind in this age filled with self worship. Also Romans 1:18-28.

This is not Richard Baxter's sermon, it is a sermon by a guy named Michael Phillips who used excerpts from the original but says things that Baxter wouldn't. For example, Baxter wouldn't say that "good Christians" "fall" into adulterous affairs as though someone set a trap for them rather than them engaging in the act of their own free will. Baxter also wouldn't go on to focus only on earthly consequences with the implication being that those living in willful sin are not in danger of hellfire; on the contrary, Baxter would laser focus on that to bring the person to repentance and not give them comfort in their sin. The theology is not Baxter, not reformed, not Calvinist, it's very Southern Baptist.

Will you post the 2nd part of the sermon? If not, where can I find it?

You should not say RichardBAXTER WROTE BAD BOOKS, HE IS A BETTER CHRISTIAN AND WRITER most other Christians. The man was like an Apsotle, he was a prolific writer and whole towns were turned to Christ after he was a pastor in those towns. So please don't so quickly criticize a man that was really an amazing example to all of us. HG

Very good point. This wasn't Baxter's sermon, this was Michael Phillips using excepts from Baxter's original in interjecting his own theology.
