Guys...this one was a real bummer. I'm so sad this yarn didn't perform the way I expected it to - it's SO soft, and I really wanted it to work. I guess we can't win them all.
Thanks for this yarn review. I've looked at this yarn before and considered it for projects. I won't be using this yarn now. Sorry that you had to experience this pilling problem. Your sweater is beautiful though. I am so glad I found your channel. Love your videos.
I would be livid about this. Never mind the waste of money - it's a waste of your precious time. FWIW, I bought 6 skeins of Cardiff Cashmere (the DK weight that's really a fingering weight) and 2 of the skeins had the gauge of a lace weight. It was a disaster and I too spent a lot of money on that yarn. Unless I can feel it and choose the skeins in person, I will never buy that yarn again. And even if I can, I'm inclined to buy another brand that hasn't burned me. Thanks for sharing this info and saving others from the same experience.
I’ve used that yarn to knit the classic ribbed hat . It was knit at a tight gauge and it was pilling while I was knitting it ! And it left a weird residue on my fingers. Some would say it was lanolin but I don’t think so! It gave me an uneasy feeling
exact same experience with this yarn!! I made a sweater in gray and the pilling is so obvious, and every time I wear it I have to spend an hour depilling 💀
Rightly so you are dissapointed and I understand your frustration oh so well! I once had a similar experience. That's the reason for staying away from Cashmere yarns period. -But I too would approach Purl Soho with your, in my opinion, not acceptable experience with such an expensive yarn of there's and see, what they have to say about that. I cannot imagine you being the only customer with such a complaint.😢
Yes, I guess I’ll have to chalk it up to a lesson learned. Purl soho do cycle out their yarns a lot, so I may submit some feedback and see what they say!
I love certain Purl Soho yarns for their affordability, colors, sales and quality. This is certainly disappointing and I appreciate your honesty. I've noticed PS doesn't keep all their yarns forever so maybe your feedback will be valuable to them.
It’s a shame, but I guess it was bound to happen at some point. There was no way I could love all their yarns equally🥹 they do cycle yarns in and out, which I appreciate, so let’s see what happens with this one…
I love Cashmere Merino Bloom, but have not used it for garments. I've used it a few times for cowls and scarfs. It is one of the only merino or merino blends I can were next to skin. I love the softness of the yarn, and some pilling does not bother me. Also, a comment about the price, Purl Soho has various sales thru out the year, including 25% off.
Yes, i think a full garment may have been my mistake with this one. And I do frequently buy from their sales - even then, pretty pricey. Still love PS with all my heart, but I can’t justify buying the poppy red color now :(
Hello! I am sorry about your disappointment. I agree that the loose gauge contributed to the pilling. I have used Cashmere Merino Bloom for a few hats (ribbed) and a mistake rib scarf. Really no complaints about it. I appreciate your experience that you shared. It is very helpful for us knitters. We will learn and benefit from your experience. I also loved that Poppy color! I have it in my stash- hoping to knit another scarf with it. Perhaps you can find out from other knitters that this yarn in a tight gauge won’t have this issue and you can give it another chance.
