Watch me paint this Purple, Sage & Dot Mandala step by step... these videos are done to give you some inspiration to create your own personal designs... In this one, I use a liner brush as well as my usual tools... not my favourite thing to use on my mandalas... (give me a ball stylus tool any day) but wanted to give it a go...
Paints used in this video are a mix of odd paints that I already had from previous paintings that were blended with Pouring Medium at a ratio of 3 parts paint and 1 part pouring medium with a touch of water... (a lot didn't have names on...)
The brands were an assorted mix of Global and DecoArt Americana Acrylics...
I'm desperately trying to use up what paint I have pre-mixed so if you do try this design, simply use what colours you like or something close to what I used... It's all about creating your own piece of art... I'm just here to give you some inspiration and to give it a go!
The board used here is a 45cm MDF round... The guidelines are drawn using a watercolour pencil... rings are 1cm apart and the lines are drawn using a protractor at 10 degree intervals... I pretty much make my designs up as I go along... I never have a plan! That is the fun bit... sometimes I draw random shapes to give me inspiration and make me think outside the box... or circle... sometimes I use them, sometimes I don't...
The Ball Stylus Dotting tools I am using in the video are from the McGill Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and the dotting rods are from Happy Dotting Company...
