Purpose of Tread patterns in tires!! How it works on the road? 

Race bikes and cars have plain tyres, because the road is designed for race so it is plain and clean. Plain tyres = more sure area = more friction = more power transfer and easy acceleration

Adding my two points. 1. Thread pattern are also designed to reduce the road noise. 2. Silica is also used in tires. 1. த்ரெட் பேட்டர்ன் சாலை இரைச்சலைக் குறைக்க வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 2. சிலிக்கா டயர்களிலும் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.

Friction does not increase with increasing surface area. F = μN ie. friction is determined by the coefficient of friction(type of material in contact) and the force applied on the material. Example, place a eraser on a table and move it. The eraser will move with some friction. Now put pressure on top of the eraser and try to move it again. It will be harder to move. The material and the surface area in contact has not change but friction increased cause we applied a force on the eraser. Dry Race tyres don't have thread patter because racing is done is known tack condition but not to increase surface area. In racing or when driving any vehicle, friction is achieved by weight/load transfer during braking, acceleration, cornering, body position(in motorcycle and bicycle). So swapping to a wider tyre in a car or a motorcycle to increase the surface area will not increase grip. we can go for a good quality rubber compound in tyre which increases μ and understand how weight transfer works in a automobile and incorporate in our riding/driving to utilize the grip the tyres can max provide. Great content and would like to see more on the science behind driving/riding automobile. 🙂
