this whole video is great but things I appreciate most are: - reading out the typos as written without any stumbling - the dedication to reading out the stilted punctuation and forceful caps of 'Meow. Meow. PURR.' every time
For as cold, ignorant, and greedy as she was...The image of her lying on the floor next to empty bottles and painkillers saying she never stopped drinking, and wanted to hurt herself, is kind of bleak. It's such an unusually intense and vulnerable image of someone we've spent about an hour learning to dislike.
Only an internet commenter would allow themselves to hate someone they don’t even know based on one video to the extent where they’re shocked when they feel something
@@maddieb.4282 I said "dislike", not hate. Chill. I'm talking about how most videos that talk about someone like this don't humanize them by even that little amount.
I had been following it along long before the drama (and wasn’t ever aware of any, having stopped prior to the drama) and they couldn’t get a food license but if I remember correctly you could order delivery?
Well she has a point. We live in a society dependant on social media, that loves to throw around accusations. Social media can make or break a business. Influancers often use mafiatactics to bully businesses into giving them money. Dubious „consultants” imloy similar tactics. They thretten to defame a company if they don’t pay them for consultations. Anita Sarkesian tryed this with CD Project Red. Whilst established companies have the funds to employ lawyers and PR to destroy such people small companies rely on their owners who lack the proffesional skills needed to adres these threts. We Don’t know the whole picture. As a matter of fact the servicess of a „experianced” cat behaviourist that relocated 100+ miles to work in a Cat caffe ware not needed as they had no cats. It’s a fact. The owner clearly was poorly organised businesswise but something tells me that her employees wanted to destroy her and used social media to do so. The owner got herself dragged in a shitstorm on social media and had even less time to focus on her business. All in all this is what happens when you employ „experianced” cat behaviourists insted of a person who has the knowladge how to set up a business, a proper manager.
Being an alcoholic/addict myself (fortunately in recovery now for the last 6+ years), the one accusation that Diane is an alcoholic seems extremely likely. This reminds me so much of how arrogant and close-minded I was when I was using, and her statements that seem to be apologetic or moments of clarity also correlate to the times when I would go to detoxification and get out and try to take positive accountability for my actions. If she isn’t an alcoholic, she has a personality disorder. She is out of control.
She is definitely an alcoholic. :/ Thank you for sharing your perspective, as some people tend to downplay the effects of alcohol - especially in the name of "it's not an excuse," even when no one is trying to excuse the behavior. It's not an excuse, but it is important, and the role alcoholism played in the story of Purr Cat Cafe is undeniable...as well as relevant, considering how much of it is centered on Diane ranting on social media. Likely drunk rage posting. I'm 99% positive Diane had alcohol in her system while typing out all this stuff. I genuinely believe this story would have gone completely differently had Diane not been abusing alcohol the whole time (so always either drunk or hungover). It's incredibly depressing. But we might as well take advantage of the lesson it provides in how alcoholism destroys people's careers. (I count my blessings that I was just an opiate addict, spending my time either chilled & happy, unconscious, or too exhausted & miserable from withdrawals to post on social media. No energy left to make a fool of myself - only making a fool of myself by falling unconscious at work. Plus, people take heroin use seriously, unlike alcohol use. Any use of heroin is labeled as a problem. There's no shame in admitting "I can't handle my heroin use" even when using less than people drinking every day, etc.) /End rant. Glad you've been doing well! I am forever grateful that my drug of choice is so difficult to find and so damn expensive. If I could get heroin as easily and as cheaply as I can get alcohol, I'd be fucked. Imagining being able to buy a $10 hit of heroin while buying my groceries is a trip.
-Cat Cafe. -Doesn't serve food or drinks. -Charges $18 to play with cats when you could just volunteer at a shelter for free and actually help animals get adopted.

I'd love for Frederick Knudsen to make a video on YandereDev someday! He definitely has the excellent research skills and creamy narrator voice for it. There's a lot to discuss.
With two games that surpass Yandere Simulator in less development time, I'm kinda hoping that Kathleen will be able to open a cat café in a condition that is like 230 times better than Diane's ever could. And also have actual foods and drinks to serve.
This whole story is such a weird internet tragedy, because despite the trolls, there were clearly a lot of people willing to help Diane make the cafe work, but her personality (and apparently her alcoholism) just made it impossible.
"Police were called when one of Diane's volunteers discovered her on the floor of the cafe, surrounded by empty wine bottles and an open container of cat medication" "Around this time, Diane was able to partner with another cat shelter" excuse me what
A crazy cat lady often has a large amount of cats, and are, well, crazy. Diane had adopted at least eight cats for her café alone, and seems crazy alright.
Uhh I don't think she's roleplaying, I think Kingpin Gussie is one of her many multiple personalities that go along with having a multiple personality disorder....
I'm a cat enthusiast. In fact, cat videos are the only ones on my channel bar a single skyrim upload lol And I actually work at a shelter, mostly in the cat corridors, and post for the shelter's Facebook page Everyone there are similarly cat lovers When you love cats, you want them to have a happy life; you get joy from them being happy. If the cats aren't happy, you shouldn't be. She's definitely enthusiastic. But that's not the only thing at play here But her passion is quite selfishly driven, and she seems to think she's always right and entitled to achieve her dream at any cost She wants to feel good on her own logic and perspective of the situation; she wants to see herself as a kind, charitable rescuer to cats, so much so that she actually doesn't even care about the cats themselves or their welfare. Her dream comes fast; the cats come second. She's doing this for herself and it's absolutely narcissistic Her role playing the cat actually is also quite the narc, because she's using it as a platform to talk extremely highly of herself on someone else's behalf. She gets to detract from critics by delivering the notion that she's a caring rescuer who's done nothing but help cats and have their utmost gratititude, whilst also putting herself in the role of a victim and affirming her lack of guilt and kindly nature through someone else, to make it seem as though others recognise her greatness and victimisation. If she wasn't using s damn cat as her supportive voice, as we all know the cat did not write that and it's just her words, then it would actually be an effective manipulation tactic. Thankfully she's too crazy and stupid it seems to be convincingly manipulative, but she's certainly trying.
That's getting into the dark side of all of this. One reason I guess is that social media is really destructive for types like this. For 1 they all can't seem to tell jokes/trolls from sincere comments. There's also plenty of people who follow people like her just to see them crash and burn. Finding out every single detail about them in the process. This would even drive a lot of stable people into paranoia. I think they are partly responsible.
"She posted about a former employee's sex life on the company's public page." HOLY SHIT WHAT?! XDDD "She was so negligent she let a cat die." Ooohh......oohhhhhh... .__.
You think its funny because you assume people will come to their senses. Then it just keeps going and going and going and going and going and going.....
Yeah, the vid starts off quite amusing. But by minute 40 it's just...almost unbearably depressing. I no longer enjoy watching this woman dig her own grave. Not to disparage the vid itself, which is pretty brilliant. As always.
As someone who lived in Boston at the time, a cat cafe could've been a huge success there. Between the college student population and the fact that Boston is too small for competitors to spring up for niche business, this could've taken off. But with the size of Boston EVERYONE knew Purr's reputation before it opened. I'm surprised they had any customers
I have hopes that a cat cafe will one day open in Boston, run by someone with more professionalism. Diane would never have been a good boss to work for, but I wonder if the business would have at least opened up with decent living conditions for the cats if she had the budget to outsource all the design/construction.

I think we should make an effort to support Diane in her continued efforts to open PURR Cat Cafe. Meow! Meow! PURR!

@@GabyGeorge1996 Its an example of flash fiction, which essentially just shows that an entire story can be told with only a few words. MajkaSrajka abortion existed at that point. The implication of the story is just that parents who seem to care deeply or be excited for their baby lost it. Someone could have to get an abortion because the fetus poses a danger to them, or is dead in the womb. Maybe the baby in the story died upon birth. Or was a miscarriage. We’ll never know
You can also say the baby didn't die and was just too big for the shoes when it was born. I still can't get over the raw, visceral horror of hearing Fredrik's "Meow. Meow. PURRR.", every single time it catches me off-guard and sends chills down my spine like I'm hearing some long-forgotten warcry
So let me get this straight, the cat shelter that is not registered in the state of Massachusetts, that may not be registered in the state of Massachusetts is in fact registered in the state of Massachusetts, because it is registered in the state of Massachusetts, and the woman who has several different sexual partners (because she enjoys having several different sexual partners) told Diane about her having several different sexual partners, but diane wasn't interested in hearing about this woman having several different sexual partners? Gee, Diane seems to think repeating claims word-for-word makes them more trustworthy, somehow.
I'm honestly glad that people were discerning enough not to just give this woman like 20 cats and let it go from there. I was genuinely worried this story was going in the cats-dying-en-masse-in-their-own-filth kind of direction.
I don't even understand how she got as many cats as she did, and as many partnerships as she did. All of them besides the first one could have found out what she was doing with a cursory google search. They should have done better.
I don’t think the idea of cat cafés is inherently cruel, you just have to be very careful to enforce basic rules, and only select cats which are naturally sociable. Do things humanely. Japan got it right when they invented the business concept and perfected it; “library rules”, where patrons are expected to be quiet and gentle. But that’s a pretty ingrained part of Japanese society overall. It doesn’t translate well in the West.
Charlie Goin For me personally, cat cafes are fine, provided that the cats are also up for adoption. An exceptional standard of animal welfare and strict vetting for their potential owners are essential, but it’s a better situation for me than traditional shelters since they still get the socialisation, entertainment and care that they need while they’re there, and they always have the opportunity to end up in a permanent, loving home. Keeping them purely for entertainment has a kind of a sour taste. I believe the option to adopt the cats in most Japanese cat cafes isn’t there, which I’m really not sure about.
Diane: Falsely claimed that BFF wasn't registered in Boston, so she refused to partner with them Also Diane: Partnered with FVR, an unregistered shelter
The fact that she flatly lied in the first instance thinking no one would know, then her partnering with an unlicensed group, leads me to believe that she doesn’t know much about the internet past Facebook. Anyone even mildly aware of how the internet works know that government agencies routinely have license lookup features.

What an impossibly stupid person. I'm furious.

Dude will literally butcher every bit of good reputation he has left just because somebody slighted him in a tiny amount and dead set on obsessive revenge at the forefront of their minds. Got that mentality like, “Ok I’m going down, somebody is coming with me..” In their mind, every little bump in the road is a means to perform this sort of sabotage against the nearest person that’s slighted them in the lightest. It doesn’t even work in the long run, they only end up digging a deeper hole for themselves and if anything, make the other person look even better.. They try to be manipulative, but that’s also done terribly by the fact that everybody openly knows what shit bags of a person they are. I cannot imagine the damage they would sew into peoples lives if they actually were able to think coherently instead of living life plastered as a default state of mind. The amount of people that tried to help Diane shows how many really do care. All those same people giving up and running away shows how toxic one person can be.
What saddens me is that: - toxicity - alcoholism - dissociative tendencies (posting as a cat while referring to herself in the first person) - complete lack of social skills - fanatic obsession towards caring for animals - inability to learn or assume fault and absolute failure to handle finances and responsibility ... are hallmarks of a person who has suffered major trauma and abuse in childhood - or at the very least some sort of neurological learning disorder. In the end, it might not be her fault or choice, being so toxic - just a deeply broken person trying to heal herself by doing a good thing for society and animals but unable to escape her own problems. In the end, she tried doing something nice, failed miserably and is now likely half a hundred thousand dollars in debt (or maybe more due to interest and such) - which just puts herself in an even worse situation than she started with. Although I'm not defending her bad behavior, it's not like she deliberately scammed or hurt anybody. She just never realized her "mission" was way above her capacity to handle it and now she's ruined despite her good intentions. Meanwhile politicians steal, countries wage war killing millions of innocents, corporations destroy the environment, big pharma does its very best to profit the most out of dying people and grieving families, drug cartels operate with impunity, major banks cause worldwide recession - and none of them get punished for it, most of them actually making billions or trillion of dollars at it!
