I don't think this music is about nature, metaphorically, it's about humanity and peace. "The hands of the many must join as one" - people of all race, culture, sexual orientation, class, and all the terms could possibly be used to categorize humans should be aligned together holding hands means global peace. End the war. Moreover, Maynard is talking about letting go of the ego and sacrifice oneself for the greater good of others.
I find multiple meanings in a lot of his songs. Perhaps it is because I'm an introspective person, but to me it's about an internal struggle. "I've conquered country crown and throne, why can't I cross the river." He references it several times. It's as if to say I have done all these great things but somehow I can't do that. To me it's about not being able to cross a certain line, put a foot down, make a decision you can't turn back from. It's as much about ones self as it is a out the many. In order for us to join as one we must cross the river, our own rivers that humble us, keep us from reaching true greatness. That sorta thing. I also like how he says "pay no mind to the battles you've won." As if to say if you can't cross the river none of that( your previous growth and achievements) matters. That's what I found, anyhow. I chewed on it for three days.

Thank through song and video of reminding my of this young man's life of adventure. Only learned story at first when the news broke of them taking the bus out of woods and then read story and saw movie couple years back Young man lived a lot in few short years.

Man this is a beautiful song,it grabs you right away...sounds like something from Mark Lanegan...so from what I gather it’s in one of those god awful Transformers movies,I watched the 1st one & that was enough for me,those movies are so terrible it’s insulting....Michael Bay is a fuckhead from what I’ve read ,I’m surprised Maynard agreed to let them use the song,I’m not saying he was wrong to do so I’m just saying it’s a little surprising that’s all,I saw Puscifer live a few years ago & it was a really cool experience that I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Mr.Keenan,you will not be let down 🤟🏻
