Good info and nice channel great talent. I use my Push 2 and 3 and have more pads and clips to launch, but you have to use an additional laptop and send it to your mixer like my Tascam DP24 which will run into your audio interface. It works great.
Sheesh I was just thinking why push 2 can't display session view because essentially it's just showing the same thing as push 3 and I searched on the internet and that's how I ended up on this video I wanted this from the day I bought push 2 to be honest this feature was must have this helps to look less at ur screen and more on the push I don't think u need to look at the screen now and push 3 is expensive so I am happy that push 2 is still relevant specially in a country where push 3 upgrade kit won't be available so either u have to buy push 3 standalone or you have to buy push 3 controller version and struck with it and both were not bundled with Ableton so you have to purchase it separately so I am happy that now I really don't need push 3 atleast for now
anyone know how to toggle between the functionality shown in the video (up/down arrows movw the focus box one scene) and where the up/down arrows select and launch the next scene?
This makes the Push 1 act a little funny when you go into session view. The issue is that whats being displayed on push 2 display screen is no longer displayed on Ableton main window.
I cant seem to navigate though properly on the push 2 as if i scroll down to the next scene it automatically launches every clip in that scene... Not sure if I am doing something wrong or the functionality is not there on push 2 but would be amazing to be able to launch individual clips as well as a whole row. Maybe that isn't possible on push 2. Any ideas?
I also had this issue and have somehow managed to toggle to the behaviour shown in the video (and what my Push2 did in Live 11) of the up/down arrows moving the focus box and not launching the scene BUT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I CHANGED IT 😂. FYI the behaviour you describe at the end can be achieved if you switch you Push2 into 'clip mode' via the Settings button.
Ok..may have found the answer but is a bit quirky with what messages get overlaid on the session view... For me, in NOTE mode the up/down arrows perform the 'select and launch' function, while in SESSION mode they move the focus box. Note mode does give some unwanted messages though and sometimes seems to not allow scene change because of something else it is expecting like 'push up arrow for...' means the up arrow doesn't select and launch the above scene, unless I press a couple/few times. Is it a Beta feature maybe, that still needs some ironing out?
ok, slight update as even is Session view it did the select and launch thing... Toggling between Note and Session seems to get it to behave as I described. Not exactly confidence building. I may be missing something though
@@allanyoung4221 hey thanks Allan for your response! I think I have it working like you said... Session (while in that clip view) at least allows you to see the clip names etc then launch them from the Push buttons which is handy - not the same as launching from note mode but its something and like you said maybe it will get an update. Either way I wasn't expecting it so its a bonus! Cheers man
Why would someone buy a Push 3 for this feature alone?? They'd have to be mental. There are HEAPS of other reasons to upgrade to a Push 3, this is just an extra convenience button. Also, this feature didn't appear in Live 12 for Push 2 by mistake - Ableton specifically used development resources to add the feature. I'll give you my bank details so you can send me the five bucks 😂 (JK... But honestly, look at Push 1 - it still gets updates. Ableton have been pretty good at supporting their older hardware)
Ableton officially stated this feature will be on the push 2 on Facebook when I asked the question a few weeks ago. Standalone and MPE are the selling points on push 3. It’s a smart move. Having push 2 as an entry point into the Ableton controller ecosystem makes sense. As the updates come, better MPE instruments etc will make moving to push 3 and a suite license a no brainer.
