@@seemerollin675 Just finished my first season on my 2006 GS500 and I couldn't be happier. After about 5000km it performs great and is a very solid bike for an extremely low price. Didn't have any major accidents or mechanical trouble on the bike. Initally it was supposed to be a bike for 2 years until I will be able to get the full A license for a bigger bike, but with the rising fuel prices and the overall quality of the ride on the GS, I think it's gonna stay with me for longer. It's fast enough to get yourself in trouble on, cheap to run and cheap to maintain. Comfortable enough for some light touring. Just a good do it all bike. Here is a video of a ride on it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hxNV8vybYxo.html Big thanks for inspiring me to get this bike. 😀

I'm looking at getting a GS500 to replace my thirsty Yamaha XJ600S (also want to pay less than a fortune for insurance every year lol), I've seen a lot about poor suspension and fast corrosion on the frame. Have you had any problems like these, and anything you would recommend I do to remedy/prevent future problems? Cheers

@@seemerollin675 Engine is more healthy now then before, garage changed one intake shim because it was less then 0.03mm and should be between 0.03 and 0.08mm on all of them. Have installed orginal exhaust back today and there's not rejet required. It pulls from 7500 and higher as it should be. Maybe flushing the engine the second time and then change the clutch. Yes i have rust in some places, but a little work should cure the problem. Carbs got adjusted and synchronised after valve adjustment. Still not a fast bike, but cheap to maintain and repair. Ordered the TRW clutch, oil and filter from Louis.de. Oil for 19.99 10w40 4L ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Gdy5w8WC8s.html

@@seemerollin675 Done the clutch today and removing side cover with the pickups is very easy, but the gasket behind the cover can be a pain in the ass to remove. Took me over two hours to remove most of it. Used a little bit of silicon gasket maker and then a new gasket that came with the kit. It's not leaking oil at all. Run-in period for the clutch is 300km, will do a oil change shortly after that again with filter. Used a TRW Super clutch kit and must said the springs are much stiffer then the orginal worn ones. Soak the plates for 24 hours in the oil before installing.
