Egad, I detested the weather in Ohio, where I was born and raised. Rare visits to the Sandusky area were kind of nice, however. Years after I'd left the region I was pleased to stay overnight on South Bass for a night at Gayle's Guest House and my spouse at the time who was from NY loved the geological aspects of the place. He found a wonderful fossil! This was one of the few places in Ohio I could stand, but yeow, that weather! Greetings from France.
Sister and bro in law winter at their FL property every year since 2008 but still say they wouldn't mind one weekend in February to come back and enjoy the wineries etc.
@Giannboy1 In Fliptdog defense he is refering to the "Eliptical Orbit" earth takes around the sun. During our winter the earth is actually Closer to the sun distance-wise. During our summer, the earth is farther away from the sun. Now based on the tilt of the Earth's Axis, yes we are further from the sun or the sun's rays are not as direct compared to the Southern Hemisphere during our winter.
interesting, cool that you still have fun when the mercury dips below 30,an atv or a snow mobile would be a good thing to have that far north, since I don't think the roads are that drivable up there in winter
