Another solution looking for a problem. I also have a jig for framing walls at the correct spacing. It's a 2x4 cut to the length of the gap between the studs. If I wanted to get really fancy, I could get some Ridge tie brackets or something similar and attach them to the end of the 2x4 and have pretty much the same thing, but it would only cost about $8 for the whole thing. The big problem with this is that you still need to mark all your stud spacing because if you don't transfer them to the top place, you could end up with your entire wall being off. Not to mention if you have a door or window in your wall you need to properly space that and plan your stud spacing.

A scrap 14 1/2 is not the same. This device lock it in at 16 oc, where you would need to hold the stud firmly to prevent shifting, though being a 16th or 8th off isn’t a big deal in rough work. Yet it would need to be laid out ahead of time or else the consecutive ones will be compounded. With this device, there’s no marking or measuring save for the first stud. A 14 1/2 scrap can’t be used for the first either. I just discovered this jig so I couldn’t say how effective it is in the field. Yet a similar device could be made with scraps instead of just using a 14 1/2 block.

Stick an 80 cent bracket on each end and problem solved. I have a feeling this is a homeowner gimmick and anyone showing up to a job site with one of these would get laughed off the lot.

I can read a tape and this thing was WAY faster than marking it out and it aligns everything for you, perfectly square and plum.
@Parafinn1970
@Parafinn1970 Год назад
The jig does have a feature that accounts for the first stud. You align the end with the notch on the top (just where it slopes up) then you land on the 48"
@MyDIYAdventures

🧐🤔The fact that this tool is out says a lot, you contractors and construction workers 😜 are funny 😂😂😂some of you that are talking down on this 😂😂 probably have one or something similar to this tool! 😂😂it seems that whomever came up with this template was in the same mindset your in now! Some days you wish you had a tool that could speed up the process without losing efficiency! Regardless of plumbing, windows, and or doors! If code says 16" on center, well I would test this tools theory! Knowing that also whatever corner you start at the opposite end is going to need to be compensated for final completion of that wall, thats without any variables, meaning windows or doors. This tool seem to provide accurate layout for a perfectly framed WALL again without any variables; plus if you contractors and construction workers are seasoned and not green your going to know off rip how to use this tool to your advantage! I will say this evolution is a real thing😂 you guys stop being scared if this tool helps and works stop hating! And no😂 im not for this tool 😂😂

It's not necessarily about "can't read a tape"... It's more about saving the 15 minutes of measure and mark. Just grab the tool and a stack of pine and start nailing. I agree with you, knowing the tape and understanding the numbers is essential for a craftsman. But this is being sold as a DIY tool.

@@AOMartialArts I get your point & like the guy said "its not rocket science" & i dont know your level of experience with framing BUT there are few places on a house where you can just drop that down & run with it.
