Hey Times Radio! You made it..!! First time you start with the presenter and not with a 1 minute piece of the interview. Hope it's not a mistake. Keep going this way 👍
I agree, I end up fast forwarding that part. It has been an annoyance of mine for some time. Only negative as Times Radio is the best imho. Great experts who are allowed to speak with minimal interruption, and they appear regularly so you can see how a situation is changing. No political bias from the presenter, just str
I am Russian who defected Russia. I was software engineer. I had good pay and good life. I received draft letter to fight and i had to show up in 7 days otherwise they can freeze my bank account, take away my apartment and car, forbade me to work. And also put me into jail up 12 years. Now I am in Canada and work as Data Analyst. I would say that war is not popular in Russia at all especially among young generation and middle and upper class. War only supported by elders, people who work at the government, and people who get paid to promote the war like: actors, bloggers and singers. Majority of Russians hate this war and not interested at winning it. Our state media tries it's best to fearmonger us with west, NATO and Ukraine. But people not longer falling for this. A lot of young men scared to be drafted and live in severe anxiety. People who work at draft center have severe depression, mental breakdown and anxiety, since they dont want sent people to die, and even notifying potential draftees so they have time to dodge the draft. War bloggers who used to advertise and promote the war starting speaking up against Putin, war and incompetency of Russian ministry of defense and high casualties, and advising young males to not come to fight. Even staunch Putin's supporters angry with him. If Putin will die, war will end right away, since nobody interested at waging senseless war and hating the west. I personally want coup to take place, even want to participate in it. I am Russian patriot I love my country but this regime failing Russia and ruining it, they pitting us against whole civilized world and we heading toward poverty, alliance with third world like: North Korea, Taliban, Iran, Africa and potential war with NATO. Putin is the worst thing happened to us. Even though I am in the safe spot, I still feel bad for average Russians, who cant defect Russia since they don't have means to leave and be likely to be drafted into mean grinder. Main narrative of putin's propaganda is if we won't defeat Ukraine we will be surrounded by NATO, and evil USA along with NATO will launch surprise attack at Russia will bomb Russian cities, will enslave us and take away all our resources, but Putin foreseen all of this and saved Russia by invading Ukraine .My 2 classmates were drafted and died 1 week after the draft, my best friend was wealthy lawyer ,he never supported Putin or Ukraine war, but he also was drafted and got killed 3 weeks after the draft his body was torn apart by shell and was unrecognizable. Russian officers treat civillian draftees as cannon fodder, don't care about their deaths. You westerners should appreciate your freedoms and democracy , if you were born in Putin's Russia government would have probably sent you into meat grinder against your own will and have full control over your life
Thank you for your insight. I've always found Russians who disagree with the course Russia has set to be the most reliable source of information. Maybe someday people like you can return to Russia and make it what Russia always deserved to be, but never could become under an authoritarian regime of imperialist kleptocrats.
Not likely to ever happen - Unless Putin was the kind of hapless chump that would put a violent ex criminal in command of a heavily armed army of mercenary convicts or something
@@briancarno8837 When will the enquiry into that incompetent kremlin blunder be, do you know? I'm sure questions are being asked over how that was allowed to happen! 😂
Great interview with a very knowledgeable man. Thak you for not putting 30 seconds of the interview at the start of the video. That was becoming tedious.
The same kind of people who are honest with pollsters in the west. Stop PRETENDING or FANTASISING that we in the west are any better, in any way shape or form.
I really like the Times Radio content, always knownledgeable guests and great hosts. However I´ve noticed the guests voice is often 2-3dB lower than the voice of the host. I often listen to these in the car with some background noise and as English is not my native language I find myself adjusting the volume quite often. I realize the guests are usually on Skype/Vmix or similar and don´t have a proper microphone but still would appreciate the same level. Anyway, not a major thing and thanks for the great interviews.
The volume issue has been going on for ages. It's so easy to fix but they often have voices at vastly different levels. It's very unprofessional, and it's a 10-second fix in most video editing software (Adobe etc).
First: Most ruzzians are unaware of the number causalties. 2nd: Even fewer are intresseted in some kind of revolt? What would they gain from a revolt? 3rd: The repression is more or less total. It is not posible to organize any kind of collective revolt as it is now in ruzzia. FSB is everywhere. There are no revolts in North Korea either.
Yes they saw democracy and freedom under Yeltsin. Sadly he sold everything to his Oligarch mates and the average Russian suffered. That is why I think Putin is popular.
There is an interest in decentralisation among many Russians. The Siberians feel that their wealth from their natural resources are being stolen by Moscow. Though there is no desire for a violent revolution.
The Czar's Russia in 1917 and the Soviet Union in 1990 were both run by extremely repressive regimes but the Russian people still staged revolts after they got fed of horrific pointless foreign wars and worsening conditions at home.
You should have your troll-farm supervisor help you with your english, because that makes no sense - otherwise you're going to end up in the meat-grinder.
well it is almost finished, the west have sacrificed an entire generation of young ukrainians not many left now and all for the stupidity and greed of the evil western elites. it was the ukrainians that in a sense started the war because they failed to honour the minsk agreements. if ukraine had honoured the minsk agreements and stopped oppressing and killing their russian speaking citizens this would not have happened. unless the west cooked another evil plan.
Team Times 👊🏼 Chip knows his onions... Putin may be forced to order another mobilization in the next few months. Though he doesn't want to, he is more likely to now, as #Ukraine may have forced his hand. Great podcast 💪🏼 Thanks for sharing, ATB Gus 👍🏻 🇺🇦
True, but Russia isn't sustaining the heavy loses claimed on this propagandist channel, it's pure projection and lies. All loses are a tragedy but Russia's are a tiny fraction of Ukraines and prolonging this conflict will wipe out the Ukrainian male population, if the West really cared about Ukraine they'd be calling for negotiations, not helping it "fight to the last Ukrainian" which is getting closer every day!
With half a million casualties, if they did the right thing and protested, pretty sure putin would be out of power with way less than a tenth of that amount of casualties
It is very amazing to see independently minded Russians being cowed by Putin during the Ukraine war. Hundreds of thousands of Russians die and Russia is being isolated internationally. Russia has so much land and natural resources. Why expensing hundreds of thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars for a small amount of additional lands?
Ehh, moderne Ukraine was established by Lenin as the Soviet Republic of Ukraine. Before that there was no Ukraine. As a part of the welcome, Lenin gave huge parts of what had been part of the Russian empire east of the Dnpr plus the coast to Odessa. Later on, Krutsjov gave Crimea. All this giving happened without consulting the people living there.
Russians have always been mindless to be honest. Not a point in their history where they have wielded free thought or free politics. If it wasn't for a few great artists and writers, their whole history would be trash.
Rosgvadia is huge. Putin has been massively expanding it. The Kremlin is ready to overthrow any civilian protest. It may be a different story when the invasion of Ukraine ends and half a million russian soldiers return to the Russian federation.
Finally ! A General worth listening to ! As a retired staff sergeant, this guy was the 1st General I enjoyed listening to and agreeing with. In Russian pov this is not a war between 2 countries but a civil war, and they must win, whatever the cost might be. Also - I predict that if and when Trump wins the elections, He will offer both sides an offer they can't refuse. The Russians will be allowed to keep what ever land they managed to occupy, and in return - Ukraine will be accepted into NATO.
so you preferred the ninties when the russian people were suffering and starving while the west stole your resources. putin put a stop to that and that is why the west hates putin.
@@AlexBunda-sn5yn Ohh ffs, the only country that has consistently been bullying its neighbors is Russia. Stop that pathetic attempt at painting poor poor Russia as the victim when everyone with two functioning brain cells can see that it isn't the case!
I am just a normal Brit here in Leads. So. Maybe Russia army, it is not so good? Ok. But if we stop to help Ucrainia then we could to having more wealths and war stop. Maybe u think?
It will take still a long time that anything like a new revolt could happen in Russia. Many formerly poor families have new money now (for killed husbands and sons, for losing bodyparts etc.) and in fact a better life standard than before the war.
well i guess they are better off than the entire generation of young ukraines that the west have sacrificed for the madness and greed of the western elites..
@@la7dfawhatsboutism is an American propaganda term invented by their media - do as we say, not as we do. It was designed for idiots living in America to manufacture consent to whatever their government wants. America considers itself to be the leaders of the world… then, why not lead by example and stop invading and destroying entire nations? Why not leave Syria and stop looting their oil and grain?
Times Radio - your title for this interview is misleading, you barely touched on the subject matter that discussed this, in fact, it lasted less than 30 seconds - can In please ask that you do not use "clickbait" headlines but use ones that are sensibly accurate. As usual, Clive gives a good interview and good appraisal. Lastly - love the fact you started with the presenter instead of a snippet - far better way to start these.
@@ThomasDanielsen1000 I wouldn't want that. I do want the Times to be honest and describe the truth rather than tow the line of the Western Media Narrative. For example explain to it's readership, how the US deliberately triggered this war. How it's not really a war of Ukrainian national liberation and how Ukraine is losing their war but the goals of the US are being made. Perhaps the Times could start by interviewing people prepared to tell the truth rather than be shameless Ukrainian cheerleaders.
@@boink800 No revolt against the USSR, yet half its nations chose the West when it collapsed. Russia doesn't need a revolt, it just needs to repeat the same dumb mistakes, which it is doing.
@9:15 Recent reports peg the orc force at 512k. If Ukraine demobilizes 1200 orcs a day, that force will deplete in 14 months. Assume the rate of demobilization slows in the winter, it still doesn't stretch the force out more than 18 mos. That's the end of next year. Granted, the orcs will regenerate, but at an increasingly slower rate, with increasingly lower quality orcs. That will increase the daily rate of demobilization. We need to keep Ukraine armed for this conflict through next year, at the outside, and Russia will collapse.
The burn rate of the old soviet equipment also shows that a lot of things will start running out somewhere in 2025. But we also need to increase our own production and send more help to Ukraine. Currently we have only replaced Ukrainian equipment losses, but not enough to build up to full war strength.
And if Putin tries to conscript a lot of men from relatively prosperous western Russian cities many more young Russian men will flee Russia to avoid ending up dying in Putin's pointless war. Russia's shortages of workers will get worse and deterioration of Russian infrastructure will accelerate.
yes but...Russia has many more people than Ukraine. Even if the Russians are dying at 3 to 1, Ukraine will run out of men sooner. I wish it wasn't true.
and Russia is sending what, 40k per month in? I mean, its not great for Russia but you're assuming no renforcements arrive. And you're assuming no Ukrainians die.
Estimates show that the russkies recruit like 30-40 000 people every month. And that's just the contract recruits they bring in from russia. They also employ god knows how many mercenaries from third-world countries, and they might be receiving recruits from North Korea too. Not to mention that they could call another large-scale mobilization any day now, which would mean a few hundred thousand more recruits in a relatively short period of time. They're a country of a 144 million people. They have millions of people at their disposal and Moscow has little to no regard to human rights or the lives of average russians. They can easily afford to throw a few million bodies at the problem before their losses become unsustainable. This is what they do, this is how they fought all their wars, and half the time they actually won just by their overwhelming numbers. If Ukraine's going to win this (🤞), it's not going to be because the russkies just ran out of people.
Yes I ;m getting tired of watching youtube videos of retired generals predicting that this may happen, or that may happen. No one can predict what can happen, especially until after the US election result
To Putin, it does. One man can impregnate multiple women. I think he believes he can replenish people that way. Also by conquering new territories (like Crimea). With conquest you can lose 500,000 men and gain 2 million men.
In studying history, Russia's apparent disregard for enormous numbers of Russian casualties in war is outstanding. For centuries, Russians and Chinese have tolerated an order of magnitude greater casualties without revolt than anyone else in the world. It's as though suffering and dying in enormous numbers, without revolting, is somehow their national superpower. I would like to understand why, before passing judgment about whether and how closely Russia approaches revolt. There may be some reason I don't understand, despite how ridiculous it seems, why casualties simply don't matter in that calculation.
Well you see, it is very simple. The Russians don't actually like that they are treated as literal cannon fodder and complain to each other over apps. Those can be infiltrated and thus we get a pretty picture. Also, a lot of Russian familymembers report their military father/brother/son/spouse as missing on a telegram app dedicated to troops having gone missing in Ukraine. It's already well over 250k names.
Фантазеры. В России нет предпосылок для социальных бунтов. Поговорите лучше о социальной революции в Британии и о возможном распаде королевства. Какое вам дело до далекой России?)
it is actually in Ukraine's interest that Russia remain on the offensive. This will reduce any mine laying efforts on behalf of Russia, to areas outside of their line of advance. The narrow corridors that existed between minefields last year was what funneled the Ukraine offensive into Russian artillery, which ultimately stalled and defeated the advance. Ukraine needs to keep destroying arty, air defense and logistics areas while Russia crawls forward, so they face less defense in depth when they do go back on the offensive.
these are difficult days for putinazi fans. Trump is almost out of the picture, EU confirmed Von der Leyen, Hamas and Hezbollah are getting hammered, Wagnerites die in Africa by the dozens, South Africa has a different government from the one who endorsed putin blindly, 1000 plus russian soldiers off the battlefield in Ukraine every day, inflation in Russia and other issues. Tough times indeed
the number of people here that do not know any history is astounding. do you know what the minsk agreements are and how ukraine failed to honour them. check it out and you may understand why and what is happening.
It's a bit naive of this guy to say that "Sinwar is in deep cover and wouldn't know about Hinayeh's death", seriously, it's elitist arrogance to think that the Hamas leadership would be that incapable of effective communication at a top tier level.
Russians, and revolt? Is it legal to say "revolting Russians" without some overly sensitive PC soul whimpering? Whimpering sans thought; reflex PC at its worst. Anyway, not all Russians are revolting.
I am just a normal Britishes, from Leeds. So. Maybe we should to supporting Presidente PUTIN?
