Russian president Vladimir Putin made a surprise visit to Chechnya on August 20 for the first time in 13 years. Putin met his ally and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and also inspected troops who are preparing to join Russia's fight against Ukraine. He heaped praise on the troops and said, “As long as we have men like you, we are absolutely, absolutely invincible.” Putin's visit comes amid the ongoing incursion in Kursk region by Ukrainian forces.
