Donbas is again in the center of the whole world’s focus. Russia is taking refugees out of there, and the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic themselves are reporting attacks from Ukraine. Against this background, the State Duma asked President Putin to recognize the independence of the two Donbas republics, but he has not yet made a decision.
I decided to talk with political scientists and economists about what such recognition will give to Donetsk and Lugansk, what sanctions will the US and NATO respond Russia with, and what will Donbas turn into - a new Crimea or a new Abkhazia?
